4042 | Late Night Liquor in Edinburgh, City of

Unprofessional and not clear with their rules, didn't let people in for being under 18, even tho the event organisers made it clear that it's for under 18 aswell. The guard / one in charge/ jennie was also SMOKING INSIDE THE BUILDING.

Nice bar. Just the right level of ambience. That said, I have no problem drinking out of plastic cups, actually like it a little, but the fact that they were reused and soaked, watered down my drink and having to dry my cup on napkins so that I don't get additional water in there, isn't ideal.

Great cocktail bar! Good for a date or hanging with friends.

Good vibes, comfy seating and lots to do. Drinks are pricey but the staff are lovely. Bathroom was a bit gross and very small; had 1 out of 3 stalls without locks which isn't great when there's about 30 people stuck in the teeny room. Apart from that it was amazing and tbh when you're drunk nobody cares about bathrooms.

Good drinks, table tennis and a marathon of He-Man being projected on the wall. Overall, a pretty good night out

Really small corridors so no social distancing, bar staff are nice however the bouncer is so rude and obnoxious that it ruins the whole experience- will never be coming back

Used to really like this place but the whole experience felt a bit off recently. Understandably no ping pong tables probably due to covid right now, however we were told there were no draughts or beer bottles apart from a single option. Already extremely loud music was being turned up more. Also the themed menu/cocktails misses the spot a bit, couldn’t really understand the relation to the venue and the options they had before were perfectly good so not sure why they changed this.

Really amazing place. Today we visited few places in Edinburgh. At the end we opted for 4042. The only regret is we wasted our time in different places. Best place so far. Amazing hospitality from staff, most professional and welcoming approach I ever had in Edinburgh. Prices are more than reasonable and everyone will find something for themselves. Keep it up, and stay safe. Thank you again !!

It was a super fun atmosphere. The DJ was really good and had everyone up singing and dancing at their tables. I'm giving this a 3 star rating because the service was very slow and we did they the wrong order as well. They also stopped serving cocktails for what seemed to be no reason so that was really unfortunate.

Great music and it's a perfect place if you want to book a table for a group of people for some good vibes and games 🥳.

What an establishment. My favourite place in Edinburgh by a landslide. The staff are all fantastic. One of the bar staff has the biggest biceps I’ve ever seen on a man or woman, much like the bar I don’t discriminate. One of the staff told me he was an ex footballer, he was obviously as a keeper as he is a fantastic host and super handsy in all the right ways. Even throughout the coronavirus restrictions, just like maximus in gladiator, they simply won’t die no matter what boris imposes on them . One time I arrived without a mask and I was given a mask and even offered a kiss from which member of staff I see fit, obviously I chose Kingsley, or should I say kinglsaaaaay. If you are a genuinely sound person with a slight love for danger and a love for hip hop, then 4042 is the place for you. Their mascot is also cute as a button. On a serious note, no matter who you are, where you are from, 4042 is the place for you. Best place in Edinburgh hands down. 6 star bar 4 star kiss

Me and my wife Went to this place just before the 10pm curfew started and it was amazing. We got served by a lovely waitress named Charley. She was so nice and humble and environment was amazing. Would love to go back every time I get a chance 10/10.

We went here last night and had a great night ❤️ They were so accommodating to me and all of the girls and we had the best night even though everywhere’s shutting at 10pm.

Really cool nd trendy place, good mix of drinks available. Nice wide range of beers. Has a Vice-like quality to the place, a far far cry from the previous setups in this establishment.

Lovely place and most of the staff were nice. Shame the older gentleman on the door was rude and when I stepped outside with my drink immediately threw it away without giving me time to register what he'd said (a request to not drink outside) It's a shame when an otherwise excellent place is let down by this. Worth remembering that door staff are an essential part of the experience and need to be trained accordingly.

One of the more upscale places with alcohol untill 3am with a good drink selection and good music plus a sizeable dance area.

Be aware to Bodyguards(they can push and hit you) they are so offensive when you have a cigarette break they don’t allow you to go inside to get your jacket

I'll tell you what. 4042 is fun venue. Change the white bouncer in his late 40s and i'll change my rating. I am bartender, i know tipsy people, i know myself. Couple days ago i went to your venue with friend of mine, in about midnight. Bouncer stood in the middle of street and was chatting to someone. Out of politness I asked if its allright for us to go in. He Immediately responded with no. I told him good joke man and he told me i had too much and i cant go in and went inside. Anyway i then went to two other respected venues and had no problems entering. I know your life sux when you in late 40s and you do bouncer for late night venue, but that your fault big boy ;)

Wicked little club tucked away beside the Usher Hall and The Edinburgh Lyceum. Bar staff are so friendly including the lovely young lass Barbara who went above and beyond and her playlist was sick! Will definitely be back to this venue!
