Back when this vaults was a really nice cocktail bar. Haven't been here in a while and boy it's taken a dive. The cocktails where great a bit pricey, the bar staff friendly, but the physical premises has seen better days. The men's toilet top 5 worst toilets I've ever been had the displeasure of using. 1 urinal full to the brim with piss and a dead fly floating in it, and given how quiet it was at the time, that wasn't from that evening. Cubicals locks broken and graffiti everywhere.

A fairly small underground location with good vibes. My espresso martini was average, but the caipirinha was very strong in flavour, which I liked. The long island ice teas also hit the spot! The interior decoration could do with a bit more work, but overall a nice chill environment to drink some reasonably priced cocktails in!

Booked for a large party of 18 people and paid a deposit. On arrival I could smell damp (it's in a basement) which was very off putting. Went to the toilets and they were frankly disgusting. When I asked where our 'special area' was the bar staff didn't seem to know. So of course we left before even ordering a drink. Terrible experience and would never return. Oh and the rude person I spoke to refused to return my deposit. Don't bother with this place unless you fancy picking up a respiratory illness...

Went for a Psytrance night in the basement, great atmosphere, saw Alexstatic play, good layout and great crowd....

A fantastic cellar bar. Whether it's a romantic date location with a difference or a visit on a psytrance night to dance until the small hours. 2648 ticks the boxes. Look carefully though, there's just a door onto the street, blink and you'll miss it.

3 hours to serve 12 people chicken wings a absolute joke don’t recommend unless you get a drink then you might be okay

Booked over a week ago for a table of 12, they were so unprepared. We waited 2.5 hours for food, and the food came out in stages and not all together therefore people were left waiting for their food. The staff were abrupt and rude, and did not take any responsibility for the delay in food from the kitchen. For a top rated bar in Cambridge the service and hospitality was shocking. Would not recommend to anyone.

I went in here on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty quiet. A lady of a certain age (nearly 50) on her own and I was met with a lovely bar man and his lovely girlfriend (who he moved to Cambridge for, what a lovely pair). He made me the most wonderful gin martini and made me feel most welcome, a gent. The reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is the decor. Your bar staff are worth more than that, get it sorted and you have a 5 star spot ;)

Hosted a private event in the Secret Library of 2648 Cambridge and would really recommend it. A cozy feel for such a big space and the chicken wings banged as well. Without a doubt though the best thing about the 2648 are the staff. Annii, Will and Amber were so welcoming and made the whole event go really smoothly.

Expensive but really nice to have somewhere that plays good electronic music. Really nice if you actually enjoy going out for a dance and don't want to be crushed by huge crowds. If cheap drinks and 90s/00s guitar music are your thing you will not enjoy it.

A miscommunication was handled completely inappropriately by a staff member; aggressive, domineering, and embarassing for the team that had to compensate thereafter for one staff member. I don't know if they were having an off day or what; we were happy to rectify the situation, calmly, but this staff member flew off the handle and made the situation needlessly hostile.

Heard about the place, came in for a few drinks and ended up spending more time there! Will and Annii were lovely, Will had so much cocktail knowledge and Annii, having broken her hand bless her, had a great chat with us and made us feel welcome…if you’re looking for great service and amazing cocktails this is a great place to go

I would have expected more from a cocktail bar, average at best. Staff was ok, as well as my Negroni, but the location/furniture needs "serious attention". Cocktails are definitely overpriced! And when it came to pay, I didn't like being prompted to leave a tip before receiving the service. I tend to favourite small businesses over franchise, but in cases like this it's hard...

Drinks were well made but it's a bit soulless. Staff were pretty non descript, neither friendly nor rude. Just there.

Awesome little hide away, so perfect for partying the night away on loads of cocktails. This is a cocktail bar so don't moan if there's no beer on tap..

Visited with friends in a Saturday, early evening. Waited at the bar whilst our cocktails were prepared. Staff were unfriendly. Cocktails were average.

Cocktails are very good but the queue for the bar is around 30 minutes.

Drinks nice, but incredibly slow service. Waited 45 mins for some drinks which never arrived, people beside us were incredibly noisy and were smashing glasses onto the floor purposefully, which the staff did not clear up for a long while. When we asked for a refund for missing drinks, the staff said we shouldn’t bother asking for one as “£18 is not a lot of money”. Other times the atmosphere has been good, but this Saturday it was very poor.

Little over priced and service was slow.

Waited well over an hour for drinks that never came. Was promised a refund, then told I had to wait for them to process it after close. Of course, they never did. Eventually left drinkless and down £20. Good place to go if you want to get robbed.

Went out on a date. First round took 20 minutes or so - it was OK, although drinks were weak. Second round... after 20 minutes, was told drinks would come in 10 minutes. After 40 minutes was told they were really busy but shouldn't be too much longer. After over an hour was told that they couldn't tell me how much longer I would have to wait, and that I could get a refund; just return to my table and someone would come over. They then refused to give me my refund there and then, took my order details saying that they'd process the refunds after closing. Of course the refund never came, and we were left out of pocket and drinkless.

Incredibly slow service. No atmosphere. Long Island iced tea was probably the worst tasting one I've had. Not enjoyable. Left after one. The host was very nice though (on the upside!)

Was taken to our table, sat down and tried to catch the staffs attention to order a drink. After trying for about 10 minutes we ordered some drinks. A couple of our ordered drinks arrived in a few minutes, however we were then waiting for about 30 minutes for the other drinks to arrive. After chasing them twice, they finally arrived and we felt very annoyed considering the staff didn’t care to chase our drinks up and we had to pay a 10% service charge that was not optional. While we were enjoying our drinks, a guy then came over to grab “empties” and they picked up a full drink! Just disgraceful service which is a big shame as it would otherwise be a pleasant vibe. Honestly you’re better of basically anywhere else.

Perhaps we came here on an off night, but unfortunately the experience was overpriced and generally disappointing against what I'd expected. . Drinks were standard at best, waiters seemed distracted. Drinks took very long to arrive and one didn't show at all - turns out it was given to someone else in error. On escalating we were told since it had been served they'd not make another one unless we paid again. So..unsurprisingly...we left. Two stars though, since my midori sour was actually pretty good (difficult to get wrong though!)

Visited after a couple of years being away from Cambridge and they haven't changed! Friendly service, delicious cocktails and a cosy, stylish atmosphere. Will be back as soon as I can be!

I had previously heard about 2648 but never knew where it was or what it was about. With friends, we were walking down the street when we stumbled upon the door so we thought we would give it a go for drinks. Down the staircase and into the dark basement was a very busy room full of people and had a really relaxed atmosphere. We ordered online the website and then the drinks came to our table. They had a great selection of tasty cocktails and beers, I found the cocktails were averagely priced but the beers were expensive. Barman was very friendly too. I would definitely return but just for the cocktails

A good, central cocktail bar with excellent atmosphere, nice music and decor, and friendly staff. The selection of drinks is varied, but nothing especially out there if you're looking for something special. I'll happily be coming back

I have not got enough positive things to say about this place and the team that work there. I called ahead as it was my cousins hen do and asked if we could have some Prosecco on arrival. They created our own special area and layed the tables so beautifully with gorgeous champagne glasses and fizz on ice. We were given such a warm welcome and the staff were so fun, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The music was great, the cocktails were AMAZING and it was just perfect for what we wanted. Thank you for making us all feel so special. We can’t thank you and recommend you enough. I will absolutely be returning!

Was refused entry for not having a printed exemption card. No where on their website nor social medias did it say this was required. Still denied entry upon showing gym exemption proof. If you're going to enforce these rules at least make it clear. Only place where my medical condition has been discriminated against. Happy to go elsewhere

Cool underground style bar, good service, classic selection of drinks. Liked the chill style of the drinks, mojitos, capriniha, and mai tai all on the menu. Good place to hang with friends

Didnt tried their cocktails. Had made a booking and once artived they placed us in hidden table where they store their chairs/tables! Couldnt see anything. Asked for a better table to sit with no luck. We left. Whats the point of booking I wonder. Unacceptable.

Don’t bother. 40 minute wait for drinks and then they brought the wrong drinks. Still waiting now.....

Underground cocktail bar with a big dance floor. Good for bar games and a chat. Gets busy during late nights.

Nice cocktail bar, with an extremely difficult to see entrance. It is right on the street though, just keep an eye out for a single doorframe. Nice menu and they'll make you whatever you want if they aren't busy.

Turned up and double checked if it was Happy Hour (as it was xmas week and you never know what day of the week it even is) and was told yes and then sold 2 cocktails at full price even though the website clearly states *any cocktail* during happy hour. Annoyingly I didn't realise until I saw my bank statement (as it had been loud and I thought he said £7.00 not £17.00 and he took my card and put it on the contactless machine behind the bar so I never saw the price). I emailed them and when they finally replied - took such a long time to get a reply to every email and they haven't even replied to the last one! It's a shame because it's a nice bar, but now I understand why it's always empty, obviously not interested in keeping return business and happy to make money off unsuspecting one off visitors, through dirty tactics misadvertising.

Went early evening on a Friday. Atmosphere was pretty dead (we were there only ones in there) and we were handed a rather sticky list of cocktails. There are a limited range of drinks on offer and the happy hour selection was disappointing - I won't rush to return

Took us a while to find, but when we did we were received with a great welcome by a very enthusiastic barman who made our fabulous cocktails .. and it happened to be " Happy Hour" ... and we were!!!

Small claustrophobic and extremely busy. Perhaps it was the time of the day, time of the week and even time of the year (December) that were contributing factors to this.

We visited 2648 on a girly weekend and it was fab! The cocktails were great ŷ(fab happy hour too!!) and the staff were so friendly! The food was fantastic! Great snack pub food! Best nachos ever! Ramone was the friendliest staff member. The ‘secret room’ is a great place for a small event, quirky and cute with loads of atmosphere! #weloveramone

Great bar - good happy hour and excellent drinks

The manager was very rude on several occasions to us and another party. Felt like he was in a bad mood and simply didn’t want to be at work that day but unfortunately made it an unpleasant environment to be in. Cocktails are good value but not in a rush to go back.

Imo necesita una buena actualización para ampliar su atractivo. No estaba ocupado el sábado por la noche a las 9 pm. Quería que me gustara, he estado en muchos lugares, pero esto fue muy corto. Buena gente trabajando allí sin embargo.

Inconsiderate to residents near by. Every day 11pm-1am or 2am I felt as if rockets were launching beneath my floor. WAY TOO LOUD MUSIC AND BASS!

Spent the weekend in Cambridge. My friend and I wanted Cocktails and this bar made fantastic cocktails which was a relief; we had been disappointed elsewhere!! Definitely recommend for cocktails and the music was great too!!

Had a great night at 2648, explored the hidden rooms behind the bookcase and enjoyed some great cocktails to celebrate my 24th. Well worth a visit to ensure a good night in Cambridge.

Hidden gem of a venue, with a really good vibe. Staff are friendly, even when they are busy. Great cocktail menu delivered by staff that actually know how to make a cocktail. Would definitely recommend.

Ordered two vegan burgers and fries. DELICIOUS. Burgers were amazing. Chips nice and fresh. Only complaint is we could have had more napkins as burgers are super messy. Cocktails and board games a bonus too.

How the hell did this place get a rating like this? Moody staff, no atmosphere, flat beer that we had to have switched for something else. I wanted the corpse reviver, but apparently the gin wasn't in stock so I couldn't have it. How about making it with one of the other 6 gins behind the bar? This wasn't even offered. I ended up with a lacklustre Manhattan. Suffice to say we'll never be coming back here again. As for a welcoming atmosphere, think of the pub scene in American Werewolf in London & you'll get the picture. Update - As I cannot seem to reply to the review response I'll add some extra info here. We visited 2648 last night, Thurs 9th August. The reasons for choosing it were good reviews and the fact that it was open until 12.30am on a Thursday. But, we got kicked out at 11.30pm on the dot. The whole feeling was that we weren't welcome there for some reason?

Visited on 14th July for a date and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.

I was originally going to give this place 3 stars, but the people working there were so darn nice that I feel horrible doing that. I went when it wasn't too busy, and got an order of chips with an espresso martini. Presentation for the martini gets a 4/5 - it was cute. Taste was more of a 3/5. I can't quite put my finger on what it was, but it had a soapy taste as if the glass had not been rinsed properly after being washed?... Atmosphere is interesting. It's in a basement, and a little on the old/eclectic side of things, but it works for them. Bathrooms could use a little work if I'm being honest here though... Either way, it's worth at least checking this place out, because the service *is* very friendly and that's often hard to come by in areas heavily populated by tourists.

Took my teenager here and we were both knocked out by our burgers and fries. It’s so hard to find a truly satisfying vegan meal when eating out — but Doppleganger have nailed it. Delicious burgers, with fresh, tasty additions in a nice range of choices, all served in generous portions. A must for any vegan in Cambridge! I only wish they were open for lunch :) Our bartender was friendly and helpful too.

Popped in for a cocktail before a meal somewhere else (thankfully). Overwhelmed by the smell of cooking oil from the kitchen. The place is a bit grimy, a bit tired, a bit not really very good. Felt like everything needed a good wipe down with some cleaning fluid to be honest. Drank up as fast as we could and left

Hired the space behind the bookshelf and had a wonderful evening. The burgers were deemed perfect by meat eaters and veggies alike. Area was cosy and music was perfect. Staff were a touch slow behind the bar but really helpful. Will definitely be back.

The happy hour cocktails are really really good, and even better. The doppelgänger burgers go here and eat and enjoy. We had the ends and the classic and both were excellent. The duck ball sides are incredible. Coming back ASAP.

We held a post-conference dinner/drinks here and it was great - staff were attentive and helpful and everyone enjoyed the evening.

When we arrived I ordered cocktails and I also wanted to order some of the vegan ‘duck’ balls but on this occasion they said their chef was unable to make them as there was an issue with texture. We had a laugh and joke and I told them I’d actually specifically come for the duck balls and the bartender got the chef out to talk to me! It was amazing being able to talk to the chef in a friendly conversation and to compliment his cooking as I’ve visited before and enjoyed his cooking. He then agreed to have a go at making them for me and they came out perfect, I was so impressed by their openness and willing to try and get me what I came for! So happy with the visit and I’ll be back for them again and again. The cocktails are so good here and they have happy hour deals as well so what’s not to like?! Very cool bar, underground and with super comfy seating too.

We stumbled across this place by chance on our first night in Cambridge. It was happy hour so the place was lively with great music playing. The cocktails were fantastic, especially the Black Mule and Soultrain. We didn’t try the food as we had already eaten. Our favourite bar in Cambridge.

Went specifically to get a doppleganger burger. Was early evening and nice and empty but the barman was a bit miserable/ unfriendly. The chef bought our burgers (which were amazing) out and was super lovely and talkative! really hope they extend the range of vegan food there!

Been here loads of times with friends and it’s one of our favourite places to go. Secluded away from all the tourists and students it’s a brilliant place to have a few drinks and enjoy the atmosphere of similar minded people.

After a lovely day cocktail hopping around Cambridge we ended up in 2648. I was excited as it looked really nice on its website but it was really disappointing. The bar itself was a bit dingy and run down looking. The barman seemed bored and uninterested and the cocktail he made us was terrible. We ordered 2 of the same cocktail but one was much smaller than the other and both were mixed all wrong with too much bitters and hardly any alcohol. We had half of them and then left, they weren't worth drinking. If looking for cocktails try La Raza, Tabouche or the snug, much better drinks and atmosphere.

I’m not one for submitting reviews, but this place requires some scrutiny. You’re welcomed with a pretty decent atmosphere and good music. However, the drinks do not deliver. Keep in mind their happy hour is the first page of their drink menu, which is not clearly advertised; we made that mistake and they gave us the “we’re sorry but get over it” type response. My margarita drink was only half full and was dipped in sugar. Yes sugar, not salt. And there was very little alcohol in the drinks. All in all for a newer bar in town, they need to compliment and accommodate for customers to ensure they will return. We unfortunately, will not.

A lovely cocktail bar with great drinks at an affordable price. Boardgames are dotted about the bar and provide easy entertainment for the night (especially when you find the drinking game jenga....)

It must have been a long day, because my wife and I rattled the door at around 4.30, a little too early for it to even be open. Well, a day without children is a rare occurrence, so after lunch, a museum, some shopping, tea and cake, the next on the list must be cocktails surely?

Visited for the first time last month and now this is one of my favourite places for cocktails in Cambridge. I went quite late in the evening on a weekday so it wasn't particularly busy. The service was really good and was really impressed with the cocktails I selected.

We booked an hour's cocktail masterclass at bar 2648 and got over and above what we paid for! Two fun and attentive barmen taught us how to make two cocktails, watched with amusement as we tried - against the clock! - to perfect them, and gave us time and space to also play our own games and sit and chat and enjoy the drinks we had made. A prosecco reception - with refills! - and a shot of our choosing were great extras. We were there for almost two hours and they even arranged taxis to take us on to our next destination. 5/5 Highly recommended.

They made me waited for 75 minutes to find out there is no more bun for my Burger. Freaking unbelievable!

I went with a few colleagues for dinner after work. It was for a Wednesday not busy. The system of ordering was slightly confusing to us. After figuring out that the drinks had to be ordered at the bar and we had to wait for the waiter for ordering the food. After at least waiting for 45 min, which was surprising as it was not busy at all, we finally got our food. I ordered a burger and mac n' cheese - honestly it was not really good. It was probably one of the worst burgers I had in Cambridge and definitely not waiting the time. Also the wings that some of my colleagues ordered were bad. The 2 stars are definitely not for the food. They are for the nice cocktail and the location.

What a major disappointment after a fantastic day!!

Tasty, reasonable cocktails in a chilled underground atmosphere- love this place!
