I had a chicken fajita burger but the bun was burnt, the chicken burger itself was delicious shame about the bun.

Fun place after festival on bank holiday in Aug but the bar staff are all (probs under age too) 18-19 ages I guessed and very rude. They all looked like they were on drugs, eyes very wide off their faces. Rude little people. I didn’t realise the bar was closed as I hadn’t heard and one 5ft little girl screamed at me SO rudely “BARS CLOSED” with a filthy look, attitude and very loud, so rude. Makes me hate going to bars too, Rude little arrogant bar staff, just say .. sorry bar is closed. I just went up and stood there and got screamed at, I am never rude and I am respectful. Don’t go there even if your desperate if you want respect I’m tired of going anywhere with just no respect, I don’t go to get customer service, but I don’t expect abusive absurd behaviour

Popped in here for a birthday drink. They had no ice to put in our drinks. Said they have new owners but yet to sort everything out. Went to the toilet and the toilet was full of small black flies. Not a very nice experience.

Nice pub but real shame as the bouncers take off there ID when the are being aggressive towards people, short lad, said he didn't care what he did. Completely out of order realistically it was against the law so if the bar supports this should be shut down.

Absolutely terrible atmosphere unfriendly staff including one middle aged woman who took entirely too long looking at my ID had to wait 5 minutes for a drink when I was the only one there. AVOID!!!

Called in for a quick lunch 29th September, 2023. Waited 35 mins for a ' quick lunch ' with no explanation as to why the delay (only about 12 people in the place). Had to ask twice where our food was. One explanation from the bar was I'm on my own ! Spoilt our day in Lichfield I'm afraid. I see in another review that the ladies toilets had a toilet seat missing, still not fixed along with the locks on the doors.

We a group of 6 called in for lunch on a day trip to Litchfield. We took advantage of the 2 for £12.99 menu. After waiting 45 minutes for our food ( the pub wasn't busy) we asked where it was. 1 staff member said it would out when it's ready another staff member was asked and she went to check, Came back saying there was a problem with the chef. Almost 1hr our food came out. A very well done toasted sandwich A dry sandwich A steak with cold chips A wrongly cooked steak with cold chips. A chicken curry nice but tight on the chicken A lasagne which was nice and the best of the lot. No apology or real customer care eg free drink or desert were offered. The ladies toilets consisted of 2 toilets 1 didn't have a seat. Over 1hr wasted of our time 😪

Dead on a Saturday night, drinks in plastic cups, toilet doors wouldn't lock and no seat on one of them along with a suspicious brown nugget on the shelf above the loo that definitely wasnt chocolate! I wouldn't recommend eating here if they can't keep the place clean

Very accommodating, our server Lucia. Food was delicious and the service was excellent from Lucia. 2 meals for £12.99, worth every penny, will definitely visit again in the near future.

Just called in for something to eat. We were obviously not early enough or late whatever. When I asked young woman behind bar about food found her ignorant and never looked at us only seemed to have eyes for her friends 15.45. I asked her about cleaning table off where we were sitting she offered me a roll of blue cloth. When I wiped the table off I threw tge remains of dirty cloth on bar. Oh dear it's still on the bar. Miserable cow.

Waited for an hour for food. Staff didn't give us cutlery and condiments, staff was on the phone and the food tasted like it came out of a microwave do not recommend.

We always go here when visiting there.

First visit here for a lunchtime stop to have a rest from shopping. Had a drink but looked st the menu. We will be trying the food on our next visit.

Nice friendly place good beer and Sunday lunch

Went in on Sunday of a bank holiday weekend. There was only one group in there. We asked about the music and we're told the group in the corner had requested it and we would have to wait to make a request. We stayed for one drink. The mixer in my rum was flat and there was only one person behind the bar. On a bank holiday Sunday I thought they might want to get as many people in as possible, but seemed to be just happy with a group in the corner.

If you like rude bar staff and loud, foul-mouthed chavs hugging the bar, this is the place for you.

Only popped in for an early evening drink before dinner at a local restaurant, the young lady serving behind the bar was surly and unprofessional. She was more interested in continuing her loud conversation with the group of foul-mouthed chavs dominating one end of the bar. A thoroughly unpleasant place, cold, sticky tables and flooring, we wont be back.

Great pub with music + great drinks choice. Also lovely staff.

Never again! Visited this place at lunchtime today with my sister. I ordered Jacket potato with cheese. She ordered cheese sandwich on white bloomer. The sandwich arrived with no butter or spread on it. It was as dry as a bone and absolutely tasteless. When she asked at the bar where the butter was….she was told that they don’t usually put butter on their sandwiches!!!!! What? ? My potato was void of it too!!! Just dry cheese on a dry potato. We were given two butter pats each after complaining. Mmmmm????? Not a nice experience, we won’t be returning!!!!

Appalled by this place- it’s my first time visiting and I can’t actually what I saw last night. The bouncers are quite possibly the worst I’ve ever come across. A young lady in front of me in the queue started getting her bag searched which lead the the Asian (around 5’9ish) bouncer finding a bag of white substance in her bag. Yes , this girl should NOT of had this with her and especially not been trying to take it onto their property. However , the bouncer then quickly put this white bag into his own personal pocket and sniggered with his other bouncer friends as if he’d hit the jackpot and was clearly not removing it from the girl for the right reasons. Not only this , he then still allowed this young girl to enter the premises even without ID !! Will not be returning and I think you should really consider changing your bouncers before the whole place gets shut for good.

Popped in for an end of night drink with friends and felt uncomfortable before we’d even got in. Bouncers charged us £5 (cash only) on the door which didn’t go in a till. Our friends ahead of us were not charged. I paid for 5 of us, gave 2 x £20 and waited for £15 change. Ended up having to ask for it after the cash was pocketed. Plastic cups, hardly any beers left on. Stayed for half a drink then left. Wished we’d just have not bothered.

Not a great choice of ales to choose from although nice enough pub

2 of us, both vegans, visited for a midweek lunch. After waiting for 10 minutes at the bar for someone to appear, I wandered to the kitchen in search of some service. I was informed quite curtly to wait at the bar, again. There was a good value lunch menu, 2 meals for 12.99. However only one choice and we wanted slight change,ie swap mash for chips for a change. But no. We would then be charged 12.99 each. The lady was rude and dismissive, although there were very few customers. We had our drinks and ate elsewhere. Won’t be going back. Won’t be recommending to the many local vegans.

This is an embarrassing review to write due to my illness. I was shopping in Lichfield and unfortunately I desperately needed the toilet ( I have bowel disease and can get caught short while out) originally I walked past this pub as I could quite clearly see a sign on the door stating the toilets were for customer use only and I really do try to abide by this. After starting to panic that I REALLY needed to go, I braved this place and dashed into the toilet, while I was in the cubicle a very loud voice shouted from just outside the ladies "toilets are for customer use only" The shame I felt walking back through the bar was overwhelming and I was almost in tears as the manager then shouts across the bar "I'm sick of this" strops over to the toilets while giving me a filthy look. If she had spoken to me I would have explained my situation and apologised, but her attitude in general was awful and very unprofessional.

Lively town centre pub, cheap prices, good atmosphere

Dreadful place it needs closing down! The food was poor , Childs portions not adult , I had the plaice which was small and tasteless, chips were greasy and undercooked , cold peas my friend had steak pie which was steak and kidney and when she asked for mash instead of chips she was refused even though mash was on the menu we didn’t eat the food . The toilets are awful , one toilet with no seat and other toilet the seat was broken very unhygienic! When we complained the staff were rude with no apology they said toilet seats were being sourced but previous reviews from months ago had the same complaints, the staff were loud and used bad language, avoid this place !! Why do the staff give bad reviews a thank you and 👍🏻They obviously don’t care

Staff not very welcoming too busy talking with each other , only a few other people in there one of them turned out to be the cook resting , the food wasn't good , I had ordered it prior to my wife returning from the toilets which she said we're disgusting , doors missing the only one left didn't lock no hot water and no hand dryer the gents were as bad . The fish although crispy was sitting in a pool of grease , the peas (garden) were God knows how old , the tin bucket that the cutlery and sauces came in certainly hadn't seen a clean in a good time . No details on any of the menu's ect of the owners details ect . Pretty poor

Not impressed as it was our first visit. Manager just seemed to be incredibly rude to her staff, overall bad atmosphere. I had to wait at least 15 mins to be served at the bar even tho I was there at the till. Two tills one for drinks and one for food,we were expected to know which one to go too. Come on there were queues!!!! Manager or leader didn't seem to know what she was doing, picking on her staff. Felt everything was just a complete irritation to her. Kids milkshakes are apparently made in the kitchen & served same time as the food I was told,so if there was 40 mins wait on food,kids would have to wait that time for it. No fruitshoots left. Adult portion sizes were incredibly small,I might as well of had a child's meal. 5 scampi and the smallest portion of chips I've ever had,with a spoonful of peas. Looking around at other tables I noticed overcooked jackets that hadn't been eaten,side salads left. Never ever will I be returning. These review's ive read are shocking

Dreadful experience. The staff, including the doormen are just rude and incompetent. We’re 3 middle aged guys out having quiet pre Xmas drinks and we ordered 3 g&t’s only one came out without any gin in it…even the barman tasted and confirmed this with his little straw, but didn’t actually rectify the issue, instead called the doormen over who concocted a ridiculous story in order to avoid addressing our complaint, resulting in them asking us to leave!! I’ve never known anything like it, but after reading reviews on here and trip advisor, it seems to be pretty standard behaviour. Avoid like the plague would be my advice .

Only couple of items on menu at lunch time. Waited 3/4 hour when queried it was told that she had informed us of the wait which she had not. Extremely belligerent and rude member of staff. When food did arrive it was disgusting tiny portions greasy underdone chips. Why did food take so long when it was practically empty and there is no excuse for rudeness. Since the pandemic the Scales has been rebranded as 24 Market Street. Strangely enough it's at 24 Market Street 😂 it's had a slight refurbishment as well. Still a nice pub though.

Cannot justify how they can charge £3.90 for a Carling. Even after a full refurb the place is not all that. Won't be going in there again.
