Had a smoothie there recently. Usually they’re ok but this one Tasted too much of apple juice instead of the mango I ordered- I’m guessing that’s what it’s watered down with. The guy who works there always seems to wear the same clothes as I’ve been in several times in a row and tbh it’s a bit minging not to change your clothes everyday if you’re front of house!!

Really enjoy the coffee and they're very accommodating with allergens. Great place to kill and hour or so with some sonic and a bite. One of our favorites.

Brought my nerdy gaming partner to Brighton for her birthday, and this was 100% a destination and didn't disappoint. Great games and great coffee

I’ve been 3 times now and every time I’m there I’m always greeted with such a warm and welcoming atmosphere and hospitality. The workers there are always so lovely tans the games alongside the food always tastes lovely. Easy 5/5

We had the best ever time! The full English breakfast was amazing delicious best ingredients and just perfect! The drinks were so good, the atmosphere is chilled and relaxed and we loved playing the retro board games from childhood especially Guess Who. I highly recommend this cafe for coffee too as the seating is very comfortable and the atmosphere is conducive to a quiet conversation, reading or study as well. Thank you!

Interior is trendy and retro-ey but the atmosphere was quite tense and a bit unwelcoming. I ordered the waffles, took quite a while (nearly 40 minutes) and the shop was nearly empty), and it was lukewarm. The concept is really cool but sadly won't be returning. You're better off just playing games at home with friends + making your own food.

Popped by for a coffee on the way to see clients in town, great space with a lovely team. Will definitely have to pop back when I've got more time and smash out some classic retro games, the menu looks awesome too. Thanks gang 🙌

Lovely little gem! Very attentive staff, looked after my allergens well (Dairy free and Gluten free available as well as Vegan) Retro games and music playing and to get you in the zone. You could sit and chill out here for hours! Extensive food and drink menu with home made goodness all around! Will definitely be back, thank you!

I visited with my girlfriend and our 7 year old son for breakfast and a couple of hours of retro gaming. We all had a brilliant time! We played on their N64 and introduced my family to Goldeneye which became a firm favourite as we played the numerous games on hand. The food was great too with a good selection for all of us. The breakfast burrito is definitely worth a try. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

Really amazing cafe for videogame fans. They have all the classic consoles and games! Staff are super friendly too. The milkshakes and smoothies are all yummy. My kids are obsessed with this place - we visited several times during a short holiday to Brighton!

I had the pleasure of trying out 1UP cafe on UberEATS for the first time, and let me tell you, it was a delightful experience! I was craving a relaxed English breakfast in the comfort of my bed, and they truly delivered. The breakfast arrived piping hot and impeccably fresh, thanks to their thoughtful packaging. I also savored a fantastic iced latte, expertly sealed to ensure no mishaps along the way. The food quality left me thoroughly impressed. However, I must mention a minor suggestion: the slices of toast, bundled together with the rest, became slightly soggy from the steam. It's a tiny detail, really, but perhaps packing them separately in a paper bag could preserve their crispness. I couldn't help but admire the captivating online photos of the café and the tantalizing array of other dishes they offer. I'm already looking forward to visiting them in person soon to experience it firsthand. With that being said, I wholeheartedly give them a resounding thumbs-up for the wonderful experience they provided.

Fantastic little retro themed 'greasy-spoon' (meant in the best possible way... This is an English term of endearment for you non native speakers) Any way it has a great vibe and an impressive set up with lots of retro consoles set up at most tables and even some sunny outside seating. There's a good community vibe with sign up sheets for events like board game nights and Magic the gathering drafts. The food is good too... I had one of the best fried egg sarnies ever...

Amazing place. Been here a few times for smash bros tournaments that are played biweekly and it's always the highlight of my weekend. Great staff and a really nice location make it a nice place to go and hang out or to compete in some of the various tournaments hosted there. They also sell some games there and have really great prices which is a cool bonus.

My favourite gaming cafe! Love all the selection of games here. It really brings retro gaming to life! The themed menu is full of options and the smoothies are refreshing, especially in the warm weather. I will continue to be a regular customer! Great staff x

A haven for gamers and geeks alike! Having moved to Brighton recently, we wanted to head over to 1UP for ages and finally took the opportunity on a sunny Saturday to pop by! Worth it? 100%! In the heart of the high-street and 5 minutes walk from the sea/beach, 1UP Cafe is built with love and a passion for good food, great games and awesome vibes! A Triforce of goodness that make it a *must visit* in Brighton! There are tables full of awesome retro games/consoles, from a SEGA Mega Drive Mini to a SNES mini, GameCube and Nintendo 64 as well - loads to pop in and play! If you're craving a little arcade fix, there's a Street Fighter II cab waiting for those frantic button presses, too! With themed bars/cafes, food can be a bit hit/miss - but with 1UP, wowzer... Bowser - Super fresh, absolutely tasty and great value, too! I had the Bowser Breakfast and blown away at how good it was - awesome portion size, packed full of flavour and not greasy, either! Paired with a smoothie and you're set for some gaming fun! Lots of options on the menu for veggies, sweet treats and drinks - well worth stopping by for a bite if you're in the area! Loved the vibes too - everyone working there was super friendly from the moment we walked in, super-attentive and great service! A great spot in Brighton with excellent entertainment, food, service - highly recommended!

Had a really chilled couple of hours at the 1UP cafe. Played some Megadrive, N64, PS1. The family enjoyed our time there

First time in this coffee shop. The slice of cake was a very thin slice and I found it way too sweet. However, I enjoyed playing domino whilst having a cup of coffee.

So good! Great for a brunch of breakfast, some really appealing deserts and fancy hot chocolates and the like, but also, GAMES! Our table has a PS1 with a great screen, we also played on the Street Fighter 2 cabinet.

Excellent cafe with around 70mbps internet speed. Lots of retro games to play. Friendly staff and lovely food choices. I had two coffees because the first was so nice. I’ll define I love you be back. Very relaxed atmosphere with sofas and benches.

This place is a gem! Great location and unique decoration, which immediately puts a smile on your face. The owner is a very friendly and welcoming person. The menu is great and food is delicious! I really enjoyed my lunch there. Will definitely go back again. Highly recommended!

love this cafe as it's so different to everything else in brighton. my food personal favs are the vegan brekkie, falafel and hummus salad, and the smoothie power bowl. service is always super friendly, and it's my go to place for coffee catch ups as I love the booths and all the retro games! old school sonic for the win! :)

Great gaming cafe with retro consoles, board games and Lego! The coffee is good and they have a nice selection of food, the chicken pesto panini is delicious. Great location too, with Norfolk Sq opposite.

When I saw this place has opened up nearby I was really excited. It's a really decent cafe with a menu to fit many wants, the tea is great and they've got an amazing hot chocolate too! On top of that, you get to play some awesome 'retro' games and tabletop games. Come as a pair, or come in a group and there'll be something for you!
