1993 Cakery in Birmingham

What a complete shambles! Very poor communication throughout. After weeks of trying, we eventually managed to book a time to use a Groupon voucher, bought for us as a gift. We travelled nearly an hour to get there, and when we arrived, the place was closed. Gates were padlocked shut and no-one was answering the mobile phone number on thier contact details. An absolute sh1t-show that should be avoided. BEWARE!

Place is a SCAM Sherelle Mattis you should be ashamed of yourself! Report them to trading standards and get your refund from the bank ! They will NOT refund you.

Fabulous afternoon tea! Superb food, service and company.. Heavenly cakes and exceptionally friendly staff, a delightful, relaxing afternoon treat- we will be back!

It's a scam! Avoid!! Booked and paid for a bottomless brunch in advance. There's no one there when I arrived and bo one to answer either the door or the phone. Robbery!

Stole our money, where not open when we arrived for booked Groupon meal. They refuse to reimburse us and are denying to Groupon that they have stolen our money.

Bought a Living Social voucher for a "Romantic three course dining and glass of champagne or cocktail each for two" and booked (with lots of difficulty) to go on Valentine's Day! The greeting was fine - friendly and welcoming - unfortunately this was the highlight of the day!! Although we were expecting champagne or cocktail - we weren't given a choice! The starters - a melon tartare" (melon's usually served raw isn't it???) and a" tuna tartare" - tuna out of a tin!! We paid extra to have steak ( with seasonal veg and fondant potatoes) The steak was OK although not cooked as requested! The seasonal veg turned out to be boiled carrots and the fondant potatoes were just boiled potatoes with the skin on ( good fibre I suppose) We were asked if we'd like a sauce, said yes what have you got! Reply - mayo, brown sauce and maybe some ketchup! The sauces were in sachets! The dessert was OK! A bit claggy for us but that's a personal choice/taste! I asked where was the toilet and I had to be escorted - it was through the "kitchen area",up some stairs and through what looked like the stock area!! Unfortunately, It wasn't the cleanest of places and no dryer or hand towels available! My escort told me it was the staff toilet and the only one available! As we were leaving two couples arrived! They had presents, balloons and flowers - obviously in the mood for a romantic meal! I felt so sorry for them! The description given originally did not match the experience and that's such a shame! I'm not quite sure what this place actually is - but to me it's definitely not a restaurant!

I paid £19.95 for a Groupon voucher for the '1993 Cakery and Culinary Experience' Afternoon Tea. I booked a table for 5th August at 2pm. We caught a taxi on the day as it was a wet Saturday and the restaurant is a walk from the train station. My daughter was visiting from Oxford so I'd promised to treat her to an afternoon tea for her birthday. We arrived at 2pm to find the restaurant was closed and shuttered. We immediately phoned the restaurant and a young man (on his first shift apparently) told us he had been told to shut up shop and go home. 1993 and Groupon will not give me my money back- with various pretexts, excuses and time wasting emails.

Avoid!!! This “company” take your money but don’t provide any goods!! Bought a Groupon voucher for the feast. Contacted the company via email, instant response and booking made. Turned up at the venue for the booking, difficult to identify, no feathers or decorations outside just looked like a empty office. Went inside found one lady sat on a laptop, looked surprised to see me and told me they had no bookings for that day, and no food!! I showed her evidence of booking and she stated she would contact Groupon on Monday to ask for a refund. This has no happened. They have refused all contact with me and have told Groupon I attended on a different date!! This company is nothing like what is advertised, holds no accountability for their errors and is holding my money when they have done nothing but cost me a wasted taxi fare!!

Had the feast ! Must do it was great something for everyone . Team were friendly and were over helpful

Can I say this place is amazing. I wanted some Buisness cupcakes with customised details and these guys came through! I even brought a picnic box and it was delicious Thank you so much 1993 Cakery you did amazing I will be back for more treats
