food arrived late, cold and in a puddle of water from the steamed veg.. there was hardly any sauce with the mutton and no flavour.. would not order from here again.. whole meal thrown away

Firstly I ordered the food at 4:30pm. It said it would take 35-45mins. It took over 1hr and 25mins. Secondly, the food portions are outrageous. I didn’t order sides with my ackee and saltfish, I had the stems veg option instead of rice as I wanted hardfood. I ordered hard food as a side and it was stale, dry and taste like it’s been sat in stale pot water ALL DAY. I was charged £8.50 for a large and the veg was more than the ackee and saltfish. I’m so disappointed, how do you put more steam veg than the actual dish? Never again. The ackee is dry too, the food tasted STALE. The stew chicken and rice has a weird taste. The rice was too soggy and wasn’t nice.

Went to order and collect in person. Appeared to be a family run business, friendly. Generous portions for the price. I had large mutton, rice and peas with veg, dumpling, coleslaw and plantain. Food really hit the spot I was craving. Really tasty, mutton melted in the mouth. All fresh and hot. Usually order on just eat but will go there to collect now.

I’m really sorry but the food is nasty. I bought rice and peace with oxtails yesterday, the food smells off, the rice didn’t taste nice so is the oxtail.please guys don’t waste your money

I don't know why I gave this shop another try, each and every time the food is days old unseasoned or tough 😐 I ordered jerk chicken and it's dry an old with NO FLAVOUR!!!! the festivals could hammer nails into walls, the yam was tough an old, the dumpling was rock hard and I spent my money for the food to go in the bin kmt. Plus they don't have a shop number to call and I'm not surprised because they'd get nuff complaints!!!! Caribbean food shops need to do better than this, I can cook an wish I did now because this food has annoyed my whole evening kmt thanks taste NO taste!!!!

By far the worst Caribbean I’ve ever had.

OK my first try here today and I'd say it's very hit and miss!! First off, all portions are very tiny and not much meat in them. Big portion of rice with a table spoon of juice less curried goat for £5.50.. Not worth it.. Worth £3!! However it tasted delicious but still wasn't worth that much! Fried Chicken, I had to laugh 2 tiny Robin redbreast drummers and a lump of something fatty half the size. 1 was edible the other two burnt.. Definitely different batches. Again £5.50 and I expected chicken, literally none once you've took into account the huge 1 inch bone!! Macaroni cheese £3, I thought they'd sent a dumpling by mistake the box was so small. Portion was half a handful and I have tiny hands!! Worth 30p in fact I get macaroni cheese at aldis for 39p and it's 5 times as much. Plus it was nuked from the microwave and the polystyrene carton was melted into the food.!! Sexy juice for £4 is awful.. Sicksy more like and not worth the money!! Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place and won't be returning. I've given 1 star as the curry goat tasted nice and beautiful rice however I was still hungry and everything else was very disappointing!! Delivery took around 1 hour and we're 4 mins drive away.. Not too bad 🤔🤔🤔 There's better quality and quantity in Selly Oak delivered quicker. Sorry guys it's a "No" from us!!

Favourite carribean to order from in BRUM!!!

I have had some lovely food today. Vegetable pattie was beautiful and mutton curry was even better. There was a slight delay however, the lady was lovely and gave me an extra pattie and my delivery back so I was very happy with this. Many thanks I will order again with you.

I ordered mutton soup which came without a single piece of mutton. The menu should be changed to overpriced vegetable soup.

I had a large curry mutton from here and a dumpling for £10 The curry come with 6 small fatty pieces off meat and tonnes of dried out rice you could not even drain no curry juice out if you turned it upside down The only goat that came with the meal was me The guy had an attitude like he was above the place, sulking about the shop

So they gave us the littlest portions ... ordered two medium curry goats and a small then it arrived in a medium container along with a large and a small rice. Called up to tell them they must have got the order mixed up and they kept telling us it was right when clearly it wasn’t, will not be going back there again.

thought I would give this place a try,big mistake.Iordered brown stew fish with steam veg a dumpling and a portion of plantain.I also ordered a large guiness punch.what I actualy recieved was a bag full of spilt guiness punch.don't understand why you would put the cold drink in with the hot food.it had spilt on the dumpling and,plantain so soggy and cold yet still greasy.I then opened my fish which was not brown stewed fish but two small pieces of fried hake and some poor steam? veg.the fish was tough and tasted old ,I threw it away.so I paid £6.50 for two old small pieces of hake.never again

Decided to give this place a try, I ordered the curry mutton which looked decent if a bit greasy. However the first piece of meat which I tried to put my fork into turned out to be a piece of bone. Several of the other pieces were also mostly bone. Probably about 25% of it was actually meat! Won't be rushing back

Taste the taste is a Caribbean takeaway. I generally get food every Sunday and it's 9 times out of 10 it's good. Only a few occasions the rice hasn't tasted totally fresh but the curry mutton and curry chicken always good . Plantain good too..

No joke, the curried mutton was so good it reminded me of the home cooked stuff I got on Sundays when I was round my mate's house.

First time I've visited Taste the Taste so decided for a take out to test the waters. Have to say was impressed with the food. I had barbecue chicken with rice and peas and steamed veg, my wife had curried mutton and rice and peas. The food was well cooked and tasty and £6.50 for a large portion is well priced (£5.50 for medium and £4.50 for small). I took a menu so will definitely be ordering again based on this first tasting. Hope this venue is a success (it's been open a year now) because we've been looking for a decent Caribbean food place this side of the city. Recommended.

If you want authentic Caribbean food then you want to try here. The goat curry and jerk chicken is amazing and the service and staff were so friendly and helpful I can't wait to order from here again!

Ordered from here as a take out for me and my boyfriend. I had the small jerk chicken and steamed veg (pictured) and he had a medium ackee and saltfish with rice, sides of fried dumplings and plantain of course! The portions were good, apart from the plantain... 3 slices of plantain for £1.00 that's just ridiculous Disappointed in the meat i got with my jerk chicken portion, flavours and textures were all completely on point but the amount of bones i had was bad . Maybe it was because it was later on in the day but standards shouldn't be compromised i expect a few bones typically but this was excessive. Unsure whether we would order food from here again but definitely would get another or their Sexy Juice, that was the best ive had in Birmingham All in all not a bad take out just in need of a few tweaks

Popped in today after hearing about it from a friend. Had mutton, rice and peas and dumpling for £4.50 - cooked beautifully and great flavour , good size portion too. Will be back !
