The meal portions were huge. Value for money, I'd say.

I just went for one drink, I've been there before, a good clean and bright bar, well worth a visit.

Nice Wetherspoons. Place is always busy, friendly staff. Good value for money on drinks and food.

There has obviously been a change in management as seemingly small changes have been made which add up to more. Wait times for food are better and the bar seems more organised somehow.

It's a Wetherspoons so you know what you're getting. Cheap and cheerful which is important when you're on a budget. This one benefits from having friendly staff too and food is always good.

Currently sat at table 28. Ordered the same food multiple times. Wrong food came out. Not refund. No repeat order. Terrible. Chicken bites are not nice....

Crazy system of queuing down side of a long bar can take a long time to shuffle up to the front. Bizarre In addition when the air conditioning kicks in your food suddenly is very chilled within minutes .Especially if you sit in a window booth.Generally wrap up warm if venturing into this place.

Went for lunch late lunch. Ordered sirloin steak (requested medium to well done) for me and fish chips for my husband. The place was pretty much empty so don’t think the kitchen would have been under much pressure. My steak was burnt on one side and raw in the middle. The young waiter apologised and returned to say my replacement steak would be 10 minutes. When I finally received my replacement meal, (by which time my husband had finished his meal), it had clearly been cooked in an air fryer and was completely dried out making it totally tasteless and hard. I really don’t expect Michelin star food at the price these meals are served at, but I do expect them to be edible and I don’t expect to be served raw meat. ( I am not a bear)

It’s a Wetherspoons and in general the service is good and the staff are good. The food is what to expect.

Thank you to Lewis today, my friend and I who both have mobility issues was excellent today. I reported the app was down and he looked into it and advised maintaince was taking place but said if we needed help just to shout. App came back up but was a bit slow. I managed to order our meals twice. Lewis was straight over to check and the refund was immediately back in my account. Lewis has the best customer service skills. Incredibly polite and friendly even when the pub was extremely busy. Thank you Lewis0

The pub is ok, one of the better Wetherspoons in Sutton Coldfield.

Wetherspoon's breakfast is proper. I usually avoid the place but early in the day I will make an exception. With practiced efficiency, the lady on duty took orders, delivered meals, cleared tables, and chatted with punters, talk about multi tasking!

Having moved to the area recently, we found the local Wetherspoons, it’s reasonable priced, nice atmosphere and food can be reasonably. We visited possibly 3 times a week and was fairly happy with the establishment until this waitress came to the table to demanded we order a new drink straight away because they didn’t have the ordered drink available, so I said can we just have a minute and the face she pulled at me was unbelievable, we ordered a different drink and she went available making comments about us, I really feel sorry for her because I’ve seen her regularly and she never seems happy, always stressed and not very pleasant at all. Also a young chap with tattoos there also unpleasant in attitude. A few of the waitress there are really nice especially a new girl I haven’t seen very often. I won’t be visiting again because the whole experience has ruined my opinion of the place.

Great service and beer garden, convenient ground floor WC. Locals upset I didn't queue from the right of the bar, never seen a Wetherspoons with a queueing system before!

Excellent breakfast at an exceptional price. What's not to like? The selection of beers is good too, but perhaps not with the breakfast 😉.

Given that I have eaten at a few Wetherspoons' breakfasts across the country and found them good value for money,reasonable taste and heat,my local the Mare Pool has recently been generally cold amd recently very sickly. I would not recommend it to anyone

Was there today when a group of people came in with a tiny puppy was there is a NO DOG sign on the door also they allowed the dog to run around on the table thinking it was funny so I complained to a member of staff when they went up they said is was a service dog and did no more but I questioned where was its badges and he just walked away they didn’t do anything more. Also there needs more signs as there was a lot of people Vaping in the pub. This is now the worst pub to go to BAD ATTITUDE AS WELL AS BAD SERVICE

SO NOW THERE ALLOWING DOGS INTO THE BAR AND IT RUNNING AROUND ON THE TABLE WHEN I SAID SOMETHING THEY SAID IT WAS A SERVICE BUT IT HAD NO BADGES ON TO STATE THAT ALSO IT WAS A PUPPY THEY KEPT PASSING IT AROUND THE TABLE, ALSO ON THE TABLE BEHIND US THEY WHERE VAPING THIS IS THE WORST WEATHERSPOONS EVER

06/05/24. Bar and table service was fine. Food, oh dear.... large mixed grill was charcoal on most meats, steak was just gristle. Table staff offered an apology and a free drink after we finished , which I did not accept due to needing to rush off. Food standards really poor in my opinion.

This is one of the nicest Wetherspoon's sites. But until they put the heating back on, I wont be returning!. Absolutely freezing in there today, in April too!!! Everyone was wearing their hats and coats..............shocking!!! Will stick to Ruggley where the lovely Sharne keeps it nice and warm! TIM, GET A GRIP!!!

To be honest you can't fault a 'Spoons with what you get for the cost. I hada medium Villa Maria Rose which was reasonably priced

Thursday night struggled to find a table. My best description would be "cheap and cheerful" please don't change what you are doing

Lovely breakfast muffin, unlimited tea, great value and staff friendly and helpful

Mixed grill was so burnt had to send it back..was offered replacement wouldn't risk it being just as bad & didn't want to wait another 20 mins as my partner would have finished their meal ..so I had refund. KELLY the manager was very unhelpful & wasn't bothered that food that disgusting should NEVER have come out of the kitchen & lunch with my husband was badly spoilt by him having NO lunch We go often normally for fish & chips ..but as mixed grill was on offer..thought nice to try something else...what a DISASTER.. Will never return to Marepool ..KELLY should be retrained in customer service & should have refunded the full amount £10+ not just £6 due to how awful the mixed grill was..not fit for human consumption.

Great location. Spacious, bright, modern, very nice atmosphere. Not eaten here yet tho. We drink 2 evenings a week there. Just one improvement for me........ It takes a long time to get served at the bar, but not due to huge queues. Plenty of staff in the pub but always seems very few staff serving behind the bar.

I visit Mare Pool regularly sometimes early morning for breakfast which I always enjoy, or beers with friends and occasionally late afternoons for a beer and meal. Always good selection of real ales at very good prices. Food can be variable and not always really hot, or cold plates - but always good value. My only gripe would be it's often full of parents with noisy uncontrolled children who allowed to run around the place - & amazed there has never been a nasty accident with spilled drinks or food. But that's not the fault of the staff. At busy times the queue at the bar can be lengthy but ordering via the App can be quicker and works fine.

Me and my friends had lunch here today . We had the bprebq chicken and bacon wrap . The bacon was raw . Told the waitress said its pre cooked. Won't be eating her again

Kindly asked for a table could be cleaned, dishes etc from another customer and it was dirty with half eaten burger, cleaned only half of table, went and served 3 other tables, left still standing, I was watched by other staff chatting at the bar and still left standing and had to go to bar to ask if others were serving on the floor as it wasn't clear, Manager quite rude, seemed to enjoy upsetting disabled customer. Asked if I can raise my concerns, manager told me to google and make a complaint. Wetherspoon’s statement around customer service and disabled customers was not how they behaved, left standing in pain and left in tears. They were aware, and just laughed. Customer service sent complaint back to the manager of the pub that made me cry. Thank you so very much. So pleased customers are so well regarded and share holding provides great workplace practices. Blackpool, London, Bewdley, they were amazing, to name but a few, the above just totally upset and frankly disgusted and its as though they know they can do what they like, so we will not be going back.

Nice bar that we have met in before, gd service etc so this time we decided to order some meals. All was gd apart from an awful mixed grill with inedible lamb, steak and gammon as was that tough I couldn’t even cut it. Went to bar to ask to speak to a manager but was told she was too busy

Very slow service but nothing to do with the staffs, the restaurant is severely unstaffed, guess it is something to do with Brexit?

Always the same wherever you go, cheap good selection of beers and food,one of the better Wetherspoons,found a lovely spot by the fire. Overall toilets and general cleanliness credit to the manager. Definitely going back. Good selection of guest ales!

Good location same food as all other spoons pubs . Will go again as it's simple consisten food for a fair price . Only letdown was the amount of flies and fruit flies in there . Had to keep them of the food and drinks . Great atmosphere

More like a kindergarten than a pub. Constant sqealing of babies and prams everywhere blocking the gangways.

I'm not a fan of Wetherspoons, largely because the owner of the chain is vile. Generally, I try to avoid visiting any of them. However, I recognise that aside from the politics of the owner, they are well run, clean and sell drinks and food at good prices. (I was invited for a 'retirement do' and my respect for the retiree had to override any personal prejudices.)

One of the three wetherspoons we visit two in Sutton, one in Tamworth, out the three the Mare Pool comes out third for cleanliness of tables, using your finger to wipe across the table the grease is quite noticeable, the Bolebridge in Tamworth is by far the better one but overall the atmosphere in the Bottle of sac has a better feel, the Mare Pool and Bottle of Sac are in need of sprucing up.

3 stars for food as we didn't eat, just had a bee. Google really needs to sort it's ratings sytem. But otherwise the beer was good, there was a really nice almos and we had a good time at the venue. Recomended.

I went into this place with high expectations but the bar staff was very disrespectful with comments such as “bake off baldy”! I am fuming mega mega fuming about this services my whiskey looks and tastes like urine 1 star

It's in a good location and the pub It's self is rather nice and seems to be kept quite tidy. It's just a shame some of the food arrived cold, and the steak was both cold and overdone. They did re do the steak, and the second time round, it was better.

I don’t like all Wetherspoons but I do like this one. The food has always been great and like all Wetherspoons, it’s great value for money when you get the meal and drink offer. For children they provide colouring except the colouring and crayons aren’t next to each other. I get the crayons at the front of the restaurant and the colouring sheets near the back of the restaurant. Last time we went they only had yellow crayons to draw with.

Smaller than other wetherspoons I've visited, the staff very pleasent. Food the usual standard. Given 4 stars as not impressed with the decor. The food isn't the same standard of cooking each time as I eat every week.

Called in for breakfast and was told we could not sit outside with the dog. We then went and had a lovely breakfast at another pub that was dog friendly

Good Wetherspoons in a convenient location

Food is usually really good but not always. Same can be said for the cleanliness of the place. Sometimes it is great other times it is really messy and not pleasant. Unfortunately some customers leave the tables in an awful mess and I don't think staff can keep up with this when it's busy.
