1950's American Diner in South Derbyshire

Very friendly staff and fast service. Great value, great food and generous portions. Definitely would recommend to anyone and will be back with the rest of the family soon.

We went for our daughters birthday 5 adults and a small boy first impression was wow we parked in the car parking area and went inside quickly show to our table a nice American style menu plenty of choices and reasonable prices we ordered and our meals were served we had starters and mains we were so full we couldn’t finish the mains the staff are lovely friendly and very polite the decor of the restaurant is good toilets could do with a upgrade but you don’t eat in there I would recommend a visit here to enjoy the food atmosphere and the American diner

The diner is really cool with vintage decor. The food was delicious (filling!) and the service was excellent. I would certainly come back.

We visited for Father’s Day and what a delight! The venue itself is so unique and done so well you feel like you’re transported back in time! The food was absolutely amazing! The portions are incredible and you might not finish it all! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much to ask for, but they weren’t overbearing and asking while you are mid chew. Cannot wait to go back again. I recommend to all friends and family

Went at lunchtime for my husbands birthday. The food was wonderful, excellently presented and the staff are so lovely. The little extra touches they made for his birthday were so thoughtful. Thank you so much we had a wonderful time.

We're afraid there's only a slight improvement from when it was previously open years ago...The fries are nice, burgers were OK but nothing special and definitely not worth the price. But the milkshakes and dessert is where it really goes downhill, they were watery and flavourless, save your money and pick up a McDonald's milkshake on your way home, they're a million times better. We bought a "sharing" Sundae at £12.50 and wow do we feel stupid, I could've easily eaten it on my own. It had 3 scoops of ice cream, a squirt of cream, 3 biscoff biscuits and 1 large marshmallow in the smallest bowl, hugely disappointed and feeling ripped off. You could have 3 scoops of ice cream for £5, so the extra £7.50 was for a marshmallow, 3 biscoff biscuits and a squirt of cream, will NEVER visit again. The waitress was really nice though, shame about everything else.

Excellent food and good service. Was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and in true American style the quantity:) would definitely recommend.

What a great place in town of Swadlincote. Went for Brunch with friends. The food was amazing, typical American big portions for a good price. For every non vegan/vegetarian food, there is a vegan/veggie option, which is an absolute winner! Something to treasure and worth having in the town. Do go, give them a visit and support them.

Really unique dining experience from the decor to the staff dressing up . Loved all the little touches that are around the venue including the songs played ! I cannot fault the food or service Would recommend to everyone I have been twice now and already planning my next trip !

We'd travelled an hour to get here, its not in the most scenic location but turned out to be well worth the trip. It was quiet(Friday 2pm) as in only 2 other customers but this was made up for by the Fabulous 50's music. First impressions of the interior were 'WOW' just as you'd expect if sat in a similar diner in the States. We were greeted & looked after throughout by Grace, who was really friendly & very pleasant to talk with. Our food was ordered & delivered in a timely & unrushed manner. Brisket Burger for myself, Chicken Club Sandwich for my wife which we both enjoyed. Grace explained that there will be a new menu coming soon which we'll await before returning, most probably with friends.

The food and milkshakes were excellent. Good portions. The service when we went was very quick. The place is very small, it’s best to book. Only downside was it is on the expensive side - food was fantastic but at nearly £50 for 2 burgers and 2 milkshakes I’d expect it to be! Worth it for a treat though, and it was a treat.

Please don't waste your valuable time and money coming here. The place was heaving and there were only 2 waiting/serving/hosting staff in total. We were approximately 10 minutes early and our friends had arrived before us. We had to wait for a table to be vacated and this took a long time. We were eventually shown to a table but we're not given any menus...we had to ask... Someone came to take our drink orders. Our menus were brought...old, tatty and sticky! We placed our orders...50 minutes later...no sign of any food...but of course we were asked two further times if we required more drinks. We declined. We waited some more and then decided to complain. We informed the waiting staff that people who had arrived well after us had been seated, ordered food and we're already eating it but ours has not arrived. The waitress came back and argued back about the length of time it was since we had ordered our food. We politely corrected her and told her we had waited and hour and ten minutes since being seated. She offered us a discount on the bill. We told her we'd like a round of Cokes and a milkshake and a discount. The consulted management, who refused, so we settled for the drinks. Eventually the food came and was slapped down on the table with attitude. Three of the drinks followed some time later. We ate our meals which were acceptable but there was no sign of the milk shake. Approached the counter and asked to speak to the staff and informed them...apologies were offered. I also asked to speak to the manager as there was no running water in the toilets and no hand washing facilities. The regulations state these should be in place for eateries of 10 seats or more. The manager refused to speak to me. I approached him at the cooking area, asked if he was the manager, his reply: "one of them". I told him I understood that he refused to speak to me. I explained the long wait and the lack of hygienic bathroom facilities. He said the local food hygiene officers who had awarded them 5 out of 5 for hygiene had been informed and said that it was fine. Really??? All those people using the toilet, not washing their hands after, using bottles of sauce, menus etc and that was "fine". I told him I'd be reporting his establishment to the HSE on Monday morning. At this point he said he'd be happy to come and see me in 10 minutes after cooking the food!!! Too late.!!! We paid our bill in full and left. To be honest the food and drink was overpriced and lack lustre. We drive a long way for a miserable, noisy, expensive "experience". We were not looked after, there was no apology and actually no interest! We won't be back and strongly advise you to avoid having the same "experience" that we endured!

Fantastic experience for our family. This was our second time eating in and we lived it. From the service which was absolutely spot on, then to the food that was tasty and came very hot only just made freshly. Portion sizes are very generous and as much as we wanted to try the puddings, we didn't have any space left. Atmosphere is really nice and we all loved. Thank you 😊 ♥️

Very very under average. We visited this place years ago when it first opened and it was a great experience with fantastic owners, now it's clearly just a money maker. Maybe not for long if there new owners keep serving what they're serving. The whole experience was not great really aside from one positive which was the brilliant waitress. Food was not good. Dry, bland, and just poor quality ingredients I imagine. It was super cold in there which I guess could be expected from an old diner. Prices are above what they should be for the quality of food. The someone who was walking around (I imagine probably the owner) which a chip on his shoulder and zero customer service skills (a smile or hello goes a long way) was off putting. I'd try again under the next new owners whenever that may be but will give a wide berth for a long time.

The meals were fantastic, the milkshakes delicious and the staff were wonderful. The country potatoes are some of the best we’ve had.

Great service and amazing food. Everything ordered was cooked to perfection and it’s a nice experience too so can see why people travel to eat here! Will be returning and probably a good job that I can’t order on deliveroo otherwise I’d be having a milkshake and waffles all the time
