1947 London in Camden

I booked a large group (40 people) reservation with 720 GBP deposit paid in advance. They had flooding in their kitchen and cancelled the reservation, which is fine, but I’ve had 3 months of follow-up attempts to receive a refund for my deposit with no responses to multiple emails and calls. I feel they’ve stolen from me and run away!

absolutely disgusting. Booked my birthday meal two weeks ago.confirmed it two days ago and turned up to find the restaurant closed.No answer form the telephone number and no contact with them since.Avoid these people like the plague.They should be banned from running a restaurant for spoiling a planned evening at great expense

We were excited to visit after hearing good things about this place. Truthfully, the restaurant is not bad. The food was good with authentic tastes. The location was ok too. But that was the trouble. Everything was just ok. For the price, we were hoping for something that stood out a little more or made the dining experience a little more special. Perhaps save a little cash and find similar food in Brick Lane or Southall. And probably a more vibrant ambience too.

Went with my brother for dinner. Had great time with amazing food and wine. Service was excellent and the place is stunning. Will definitely come back ❤️

One of the worst food I've had in years. The lamb starters had absolutely no flavour, the main fish course was rubbish, they had the same masala for both Veg and Nan veg. If you love Indian Food go to Masala Zone or Dishoom .

I was slightly unsure about our visit as some of the recent reviews are not that great. However, we had a really lovely evening here on Saturday. I could not fault the place, the staff went out of their way to look after us. The food was amazing, well portioned and overall I would say the bill was reasonable for the location and quality of the food and service. I would definitely recommend and return

If you plan on going here, don't. There's better restaurants in London to spend your money. While the starters were delicious, the rest of the food was beyond average. Overpriced and poor taste. For starters we ordered the paneer which was scrumptious and the aloo chatt which was also tasty! The clay oven items were okay, not bad but not something I'd get again (not that I'd go here again but read on). The mains were terrible as they lacked flavour and didn't taste great at all. We ordered mocktails to celebrate my FILs 70th birthday as none of us drink alcohol. £12 for mocktails it's just ridiculously priced! That's the same price as the starters FYI. I ordered a mango and tamarind cocktail. It was literally Rubicon mango juice poured out from the carton with a tamrind put in, and a bit of cayenne pepper. For £12 I expected something extravagant and not juice I can buy for £1 at VB&Sons / pick and save! It was the hottest day of the year yesterday and we asked for water, we got it. Once we poured it into our glasses, this woman from the bar came and took our water jug from the table without asking. I thought she'd be getting us more water. We never saw that jug again. Teach your staff customer service please. We had come across 1947 before and wanted to try it & celebrate my FILs 70th birthday here. I'm so very disappointed with this restaurant that they didn't even make him feel the slightest that he was there celebrating his milestone birthday or any occasion for that matter. "If you order a dessert we can put a candle or something", thanks 1947, I can do this myself at home too! As we walked towards the restaurant my initial thoughts were where the hell have we come, and I left thinking why the hell did we eat here when we could've gone anywhere else and enjoyed it so much more! Sorry for the poor review but you brought it on yourself.

Such an underwhelming experience! The food was average and definitely not worth the price we paid. A portion of butter chicken which came in a mug, and two small naan’s came to nearly £40!! Me and my partner came down for our anniversary and we’re left extremely disappointed. The service was terrible; the receptionist was so so so rude! She originally wouldn’t take our booking because a table for 2 was too “small”, however when we went to the restaurant there were almost a third of the tables empty. There was no hello when we went in, no goodbye when we left. The lady simply ignored us, which we found disgusting. When we were seated to our table, the menu’s were just dumped to one side too. Extremely poor level of service from staff, especially for a high end restaurant. Don’t waste your time and money visiting this place. Thank you for ruining our anniversary :)

Very bad experience I had gone for birthday dinner with 4 people. We had to use mobile torch to see the menu as it was so dark in the corner table. We asked to change the table they did not help much. Cocktails were overpriced and small portions and bad taste. Food was average for the price they are asking. It was so dark and loud can’t see thefood properly and can’t talk felt like a disco thque. Never going back again. There are better restaurants to go for good food and drinks. BIG NO FOR ME.

I had the worst margarita I've ever had from this restaurant, and I begged the lady bartender to make me a good one with the appropriate recipe because I am a mixologist , and instead of a polite conduct, she wasn't even willing to listen to us. We overheard the bartender stereotyping and speaking aggressively about us after we asked for the drink with the correct recipe, and she was attempting to influence us regarding the drink she produced. This restaurant has unpolished employees, thus I recommend that folks avoid it.

I wanted to let you know what happened today when we went to 1947 restuarant tonight booked at 8pm. My friend and I visited this restaurant tonight for a special belated Birthday meal. We were seated near the kitchen area. Towards the end of the meal I saw a small mouse run under the fridge TWICE. Immediately I told my friend told 2 waiters and the manager. The waiter didn't react said he'd tell the manager. When I told the manager he said and I quote" it's common to have mice in London they are all over the underground". I said it's common to have mice and rats OUTSIDE and on the UNDERGROUND BUT NOT in a 4/5 star restaurant where you are cooking and near where people are eating. He didn't seem bothered and acted as if this was normal. I immediately spoke to the people that was dinning next to me and told them what had happened they were shocked and spoke to the same manager I did. This manager said the same thing to them. He then called his manager. He came out and wanted to talk to me privately in a room. I said no I want to talk out here. He didn't like that I mentioned that I saw a mouse to other diners. But I did this because they had a right to know and because I didn't like how the manager didn't care and was arrogant. He seem to imply that I was only saying this to get a free meal. I was absolutely livid at this point!. Insinuating that I wanted a free meal and that I made this up. I booked this restaurant because I saw the good reviews you gave and I booked this in advance came on time and came as a late Belated meal. My friend and I are full time working and never on our life have experienced this where we've seen mice in a high class London restaurant and not paid. The arrogance of management was disgusting. The manager said he would only give a 20% discount and said he would call the police if we didn't pay. I was advised by the other diners to pay and report then to trading standards which is what I intend to do. I am absolutely disgusted by the way we were treated and how management think it is NORMAL and ACCEPTABLE to have mice running around a restaurant where diners are eating and chefs are cooking. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! MICE IN KITCHEN AND DINING AREA!!

This restaurant looks amazing and has a nice vibe, as advertised on social media. They had a nice flower wall, a DJ playing some good background music and the restaurant including toilets were very clean. Unfortunately, the service was really poor and it appeared they were short staffed. The food was average and really over-priced for what it was. This was for my sister's birthday and we both has stomach upsets the next day. It's a shame as the restaurant itself looks reeky beautiful, I won't be returning.
