Good view to clubhouse , Ailsa craig and golf course and light house , from restaurant , Expensive place for food and drink . Food was reasonable. We got a good deal to stay there , but cost of drink and food makes up for cheaper accommodation in winter rates .

The 1906 has exquisite views of the Turnberry golf course and sea. The service by Lara was very attentive and she was very accommodating when asked about menu items. The duck and rack of lamb entrees were both well prepared. Deserts were amazing. Excellent variety of cocktails and whiskeys but prices are high to include $5 bottles of tap water.

We dined here both nights when staying at Trump Turnberry and the food was absolutely excellent. Lovely flavour and on the second night the chef was able to change the risotto to my liking, which was very nice. The Only thing with the food was my soup on the first evening was lukewarm. However, we had a few problems with service. On the first evening, we didn’t receive any bread and butter and other tables did. Each night there was a good 30 minute wait between each course which wasn’t a problem for us as we enjoy a leisurely meal. However, for some people, it would maybe be an issue. We asked for our bill on the first night and after 10 minutes had not received it so just left as we know it would have gone to our room. We just wanted to check it over. On the second evening we received bread however, when on main courses someone on our table was still finishing the main course and we were asked are we finished. We said there is still one person eating, and our waitress continued to clear the two empty plates, leaving one person eating. With working in hospitality, that is a big no no and should not happen in such a restaurant. We paid the service charge each evening as the food was incredible, and most of the staff were very good and we have never asked for the service charge to be taken off any our bills when dining out.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had the displeasure of experiencing in a high-end restaurant. The food left a lot to be desired. the service was non-existent. we constantly found ourselves waiting for the next course 30mins+. There was 5 other tables so i know they were not too busy. the matching wine came 5 mins after the dish was served making us wait for it and allowing the food to go cold. I will not be coming back. Besides the fact that wine wasn't timed the pairing was terrible. It looked like the waitresses were bringing the bottles randomly.

We stayed at Turnberry quite a few years ago and loved the restaurant, having experienced both the restaurant and the “chefs table” at the time - it was wonderful. Not so this time. The restaurant has sadly gone quite a way downhill since then. This was certainly not fine dining. They served both of us a gluten free roll, which was still wrapped in the blue “Genius” wrapper, even though only my partner is intolerant to gluten. They didn’t serve my partner any butter only after we asked - twice. I’m dairy allergic and they apologised for not having and dairy free spread although I did ask for olive oil and balsamic which they eventually served. The server for the bread was very young and inexperienced and clearly didn’t know what to offer when I couldn’t have butter. My main course was Vegan and almost inedible. The mushrooms were tasteless and oozing water as if they had been dried and reconstituted - I left most of it. My partner was served with the potato croquette in the soup even though we had been told this was not suitable for someone with a gluten intolerance. The main course was much more difficult to sort out than it should have been. In most fine dining restaurants we have eaten in (Sat Bains, La Gavroche, Le Manoir etc) the serving staff let you choose the course and in most cases can adapt for allergies. However, the young server came out with a notebook listing what we could have and not have. As the main option for me was steak and I had eaten this twice previously this week I asked if the halibut could be made with no sauce. (Incidentally some poorer quality restaurants seem to only be able to offer steak to people with allergies. ) Eventually the server confirmed this was possible and my partner settled on the venison. Both arrived and were a real disappointment. The server never asked how the venison should be cooked for my partner and it arrived over cooked and tough. The halibut was similar, way over-cooked and dry. The wine list however, was good but the wine waiter was not a sommelier and he was very inexperienced and over-filled our glasses which is not good for a nice red wine. We were originally booked in for another evening but will certainly cancel. It was a very expensive evening and not very enjoyable. Do yourself a favour and don’t go. The Turnberry staff and chef should also do themselves a favour and book into Andrew Fairley restaurant at Gleneagles to see how it should be done. In addition to all the above the restaurant clearly has a problem with flies with many of them in the dining room.

The restaurant brand itself as fine dining but doesn’t deliver. The food is average but priced for fine dining. The staff is so young and just don’t have the manners to serve the food as it should be. They are lovely locals but need more training and more experience. The wine is overpriced too for the quality.

We visited on the day of the British Mother’s Day brunch. Our time slot was two hours after the start of the brunch. The meal was held in a huge beautiful dining room which has a great view over the Clyde and Alisa Craig. The number of diners numbered in the hundreds. Our table started with a flood. The waiter pouring our water had no idea how to pour, because of the ice cubes in the jug, and ended up pouring the equivalent of a large glass of water over the table. The table cloth was soaked just in front of my mother in law and remained very wet throughout the meal. Despite the large amount of guests, the buffet was only set out in one corner of the dining room. When we arrived the food buffet food was already becoming depleted. There was a large cooked fish which was slowly diminishing piece by piece . There was seafood cold salad with mussels, squid, cockles, and glasses of prawn cocktail. During visits to the buffet to collect different dishes, I didn’t notice the seafood being replaced and the large cooked fish remained throughout. All cold buffet was self service with all guests handling the serving spoons. Despite this, there was no hand gel obvious in the serving zone. We had our own supply on the table. The main course dishes ( cooked ham, steak, fish, chicken) were plentiful and tasty and the main parts were served to you by a waiter. The deserts were a disaster: the pavlova on the table was a mushy, crushed, mess. It had been attacked from various angles and not sliced. In this case it would have helped if the serving staff had assisted. The rest of the deserts were depleting fast but there was no rush to replace, so we didn’t get much. The cheese board on offer was standing all the time on a table close to the deserts. Everyone had to walk past the cheese to get to the other courses. The COVID rule in place, and well signposted, was that masks were to be worn when moving around. In fact there were very few marks worn by the guests throughout the meal. For this reason we elected to avoid the cheese. There was no tea or coffee offered as routine. Maybe you had to specifically ask but I would have expected the wandering staff to ask. In the end, because of the way the food was handled, we cancelled future bookings for afternoon tea and a planned overnight with dinner.

Had to eat at least once here, just to say we had whilst staying at Turnberry. Evening meal on a Saturday night, you expect to be memorable. Well it was, but not for all the right reasons. The food was nice, though as expected not exactly generous on the portions. Menu variety was ok, but nothing special. Presentation was excellent. Service was poor Value for money was shocking. Yes, I knew it would be £75 a head when I booked. I didn’t expect to pay £5 extra for vegetables. The salmon was a lovely starter, but 3 thin slivers is quite frankly taking the mick. Beef Wellington was ok, nothing special. Frankly I expected more……(in so many ways). Do yourself a favour a look elsewhere I won’t be back.

We booked in for the twice-monthly Sunday brunch. Arrival is grand, coming up the impressive drive to the wonderfully-refurbished hotel on a morning when the rain clouds decided to part and let the glorious sun shine down on us. The dining room was bright and had incredible views over the Forth of Clyde (when the clouds dissipated). We were shown to our table and looked over the menu that was provided although the brunch is provided via self service buffet. We ordered drinks and went to the buffet. The starter station had a selection of cold favourites including Caesar salad, pate, stuffed aubergine, tomato and mozzarella, salami, as well as a few others. There was a hot soup - butternut squash. Next up was the fish station with prawn cocktail and a selection of fine smoked salmon. Progressing to the mains, we found, roast pork, chicken in mushroom sauce, sea bream, and cottage pie. Winding up at the dessert station was heaven. There were hot rhubarb crumbles and a myriad of varied tarts, pies, cakes, dishes of delicate mousse, and other little delights. Those inclined to a healthier option could opt for a fruit salad and there is a cheese board for those that don't have a sweet tooth or for those who are able to stretch to another course.

We loved our experience of dining here, because we love Turnberry. But I'm not sure all the decor changes really add to the experience overall. The 1906 room used to be the beautiful , stylish Ailsa Bar but it's now all white walls and ceiling, pale ivory roman blinds and stark white tablecloths and seems very empty somehow. For such a 5 star place, I think they should have flowers on the table, a nice candlestick or such like.If this was your home you would do so much more with the space!A touch of colour here and there.Maybe they should take some lessons from some of the Michelin restaurant interiors in hotels elsewhere which combine simplicity with elegance (Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, Martin Wishart at Cameron House).

I had booked the 1906 for a birthday dinner for my husband as we stayed at the hotel, and so glad that we did. The dining room is in keeping with the opulence throughout the hotel truly beautiful. We were welcomed by David and Sumit and escorted to a beautiful table at the window overlooking the clubhouse Ailsa Craig and the first tee, and our as the weather that evening was fine the view was spectacular, our pre-ordered bottle of Veave Cliqot was on ice at the table ready to be popped and poured. An Italian themed menu, but not the norm, my husband had the minestrone soup which was excellent and I had the beef carpaccio, one of the best I have ever had, the mixture of flavours was superb. Main courses were fillet of beef and the halibut respectively, again the fusion of flavours in both dishes was fine dining but without the pretentiousness and minute servings. As my husband is not keen on champagne, he is more of a Rioja man, Sumit was wonderful in suggesting the perfect wine, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. Overall experience of this restaurant was superb and will certainly be revisiting the next time we stay at Trump Turnberry, a big thank you to both David and Sumit for making our evening so special.

Had an anniversary meal at 1906 Restaurant. Started with a hotel tour by the head doorman Rory. Food was absolutely stunning. Informal dining in salubrious surroundings. Very very enjoyable evening at 2/3rds the cost of fine London restaurants.

My favourite place by far. The food, ambience, decor, customer service is truly worth experiencing. The best in south west Scotland.

We went for dinner on Saturday night and our meal was fabulous. The attention from the staff was first class but not overbearing. Would definitely recommend it. Superb views! Bit pricy but great for a special occassion.

We stayed at the Turnberry resort for 3 nights and ate in all the venues. We found that dinner at the 1906 was in fact much worse than our prior experiences. Everyone in our group had loved the Dover sole in the past and they had done a great job with it. The Italian theme was maybe ok, but but the food quite uneven. My appetizer was a tagliatelle with duck which was great, but the cod disappointing. Overall the food really rated about a 3. What brought down my review was the speed of service and the time it took to divide the checks. It was done quicker down the hill and they have to get a better system. Actually getting the food was quite slow and the entrees only fair across the board. The wait staff was great except at the end when they had to deal with their system, which caused about a 30 minute wait to get the bill after being asked.

An otherwise excellent evening was spoilt by a table of a family with very young children completely uncontrolled ,who shouted and screamed and banged on their plates all through the evening ..............this was after 11pm too !!

Once again the service is too slow even though the staff are very friendly and try their best. If you open a restaurant and the staff are not properly trained and supervised then this is the situation you will find yourself in. We had to wait one hour between our starters and the main course and there were only 8 tables taken in the restaurant and it was not as if all the guests arrived at the same time.!! The food is average to good but the restaurant badly needs a professional manager who can sort out both the kitchen and the serving staff. Needless to say we opted not to order dessert otherwise we may still have been seated when the breakfast service began the following morning. This hotel needs some urgent action taken NOW otherwise its reputation will be for ever compromised if not ruined. There are better restaurants nearby outside of the hotel which are more worthy of your patronage. My wife was served a green salad with a fish knife and fork as utensils and my risotto was OK but slightly too liquid. Really nothing special and not particularly Italian either.!!

We were staying at the hotel so we had breakfast here both mornings which was excellent. There was a large array of choices at the cold breakfast buffet and many choices from the hot menu. Service was warm, friendly, and accommodating. Couldn't have been happier at breakfast! Dinner was a little disappointing. There is definitely room for improvement, and I'm sure they are just experiencing growing pains. The food was good but not great. I had the linguini with Scotch lobster - I would not order again. The service was very nice and tried very hard, but you could tell the support staff was still learning and was a little unsure of herself. I would give it some time and then maybe try again at dinner to see if improved.

This appears to be a fabulous restaurant from looking in, but it was just average. The servers did not get all the food we ordered. Someone didn't get a salad. I didn't get my spinach. It was just kinda messed up. The food was good, just not memorable.

1906 was recently renovated along with the adjacent hotel (for 200,000,000 pounds, we were told) and is an important part of the Trump organization's efforts to re-invigortae the great Turnberry golf course and resort.

Romantic, Italian dining experience. Staff are excellent, as you would expect. If looking for something less formal I recommend the Dual in the Sun also.

We stayed at Trump Turnberry Resort and had breakfast in the 1906 restaurant. It was amazing. The wait staff were very nice and attentive. The food was fantastic and the variety was huge. Of all the breakfast meals we at in Scotland, this was by far the best.

We booked a Dome so our two wee dogs didn’t disturb other diners. The venue was superb, the food - especially the vegetarian menu - was extensive and simply excellent. I’d eat there every day of the week if my wallet allowed. Great staff. All round 6/5. Ron

Can't believe it took us so long to find this place, saves us a trip to Glasgow to find a decent Ramen and Sushi place. Food was amazing, flavourful and filling, great value for money would give it 10/10 if I were to criticise it I would say chips were terrible but they were an after thought and perhaps a child menu or half portion option would be a great addition to the menu especially for the Ramen

Love the old chip shops. Bang for your buck and delicious food. Up there with the best. And the prices are unbeleivable. We'll done guys, keep up the tasty food.
