Barassie Chippy in South Ayrshire

Been here twice now once in the summer when it was really busy. And again tonight food was really good on both visits service was good quick and food was freshly cooked

What a great find. My second time and each times my fish supper was amazing. I have eaten in a lots of places but this chippy makes the best one. The service is nice and sufficient. There is a beach just opposite and I usually go the to eat my food.

Lovely Haddock and chips. Great size, taste and batter beautiful. Do not bother with cod and chips. Tiny fish and poor batter? Small portion of chips. Very expensive for what it was. Friendly staff. Will return again for the Haddock.

You have to wait usually, but food is cooked while you wait. Fish supper was very good.

After my trip from Arran I had another 3 hours of driving to do before getting home. I decided to get a chippy for my tea, I asked Google to take me to the nearest chip shop and this is where my sat nav took me. What an amazing tea I had. I was suprised when i saw I had 2 fish in my fish supper, it was cooked to perfection and the chip were great too. I am from the East Coast and you only get 1 fish, the same size as the fish from here! Thankyou for a lovely tea before the rest of my journey home.

great chippy, everything was made fresh when i visited which was great. i got a sausage supper and it was lovely and not greasy at all. would highly recommend ☺️

Scampi is poor quality frozen stuff. Not worth the money

I stayed in my campervan a short walk along the road .First time there and decided to try the fish and chips .very busy ( but now I know why ) it was how I remember fish and chips when I was young ( great 👍) keep up the good work everyone 👏

Nothing ready, everything made to order therefore very slow. Batter seems a bit unusual and not to my taste though very crispy. Service was fine

A long wait, but worth it, excellent chippy, best I have had in ages, also , no seagulls swooping at you when you sit outside at the beach. Best chippy in town.

Worst fish and chips tonight because it was so busy,,fish wasn't crispy batter and full of bones,tastless,just wasn't cooked enogh

My haddock was like a whale. After finishing this gargantuan portion, I was as full as a fat bird's shoe! Always good food. Been many times.

You can always get good food out of here, the ordering process is quick and easy portion sizes are great, they have a kids section on the menu I go here regularly and have never been unhappy with my meal The food is hot and fresh and there's plenty to choose from on the menu I can highly recommend this chippy you won't be unhappy

Don't know what happened to this place in just a year. Last time I was there it was really good, but this time the fish was almost inedible and swimming in grease. I watched the fryer just throw fried fish on top of each other rather than turn them on their side so the fat could drain. Do yourself a favour and pay a bit extra down at the Wee hurrie.

One of the best chip shops I've been to, food is delicious so sometimes you do have a wait but it's worth it. The staff are always pleasant. Food piping hot

Just had food from here. £15 for sausage supper and chicken goujon supper. Wife had sausage supper, big container with decent (but not a lot) amount of chips. Sausage was lovely as were the chips. I had the goujon supper, smaller container with half the amount of chips. There was, at best, a half portion of chips with five goujons. Chicken was lovely but portion size is very disappointing.

Class wee place, staff are absolute gems. Great laugh. Will be back.

In tonight, despite the workers clearly being under pressure they were very accommodating, food was lovely as always. Thanks again!

Went here tonight as the queue at the Wee Hurrie was too long. Staff were all laughing and joking about how much they didn't want to be working. Shop was busy so not the best atmosphere for the clientele spending money in you shop. One staff member left for her break leaving the staff struggling to manage orders and serve at the till. Fish was overcooked and swimming in grease. Don’t recommend

Always busy and be prepared to queue however it is well worth the wait as it is cooked to order.

One of the best fish and chips suppers I’ve ever had. The special fish and chips supper was amazing- crispy, tasty, not greasy and portion size perfect. Highly recommend

I can honestly say at 45 years old that the fish supper I had was one of the best ever. First time visiting on Sunday night and the batter was crispy on both bits of fish down to the last bite, not greasy but just perfectly cooked. The chips were fantastic too, I would happily drive from Newmilns to Troon just for the fish. Well done guys top class

Black pudding was delicious nice and spicy,fish and chips brilliant.

25 minutes for chips cheese and gravy, when others were in and out in 5.

A great place , as you will realise the humble fish and chips has gone up but you get 2 pieces of fish ! However the size of the humble chip has got smaller!

Great chippy! Probably the best in Ayrshire! Portions are great and reasonably priced. I've been going here for over 10 years to get food when guests come to stay but I would really love it if there was a few vegan options and it's a good idea to phone in your order before picking it up as waiting times can be awhile ❤

£1.70 for literally a teaspoon of curry sauce which was not even in a heatproof container and was the size of a tomato sauce dip tub.. and with it not been heatproof the curry melted its way out of the container all over everything in my bag! And the sausage was that hard it would of put a police batten to shame

Great staff, big selection of things to eat. Loads of parking right outside the door. Most of the food is made fresh so there is a wait but not overly long. Well worth it as the food was perfect.

Very good chip shop and with a great selection of food. The chips were well cooked and not greasy as was all of the food. We didn't have to wait too long and there was a constant flow of customers. Would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a chippy.

Maybe not worth the wait 50 mins later, that’s after 12 people got served that came in after me!!! Not a great portion for a special fish cod supper £9.30 Looked more like plaice than cod & more breaded batter than actual fish….

Could hardly find a piece of fish amongst the batter and even that was overcooked and hard

Great staff, I was in just last week and recieved wonderful customer service. My order was a telephone order and it was ready as soon as I arrived. Great food, ordered a sausage supper and it was cooked to perfection. Would give 6 stars.

Best chicken bite supper in Ayrshire! Staff are always friendly and brilliant at keeping everyone socially distanced whilst all customers waited for their food.

Good fish and chips and also a separate Italian pizza oven with a good choice menu. Pizzas are hand made and delicious. Pizza not available on Wednesdays.

The best fish suppers by the sea! 2 fish with crispy batter just the way I like it. Choice of small supper with one fish also with a great amount of chips. Always good service and worth the wait if at a busy time

I have bought chips and suppers from Barrasie Chippy a few times and I have always found the meals to be so appetizing. The fish suppers are so lovely, loads of chips, huge pieces of fish. Very clean place and lovely friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this chip shop.....

Rude customer service If i could give minus stars I would. Not the first bad experience either. We were in once before they got the order wrong and tried to give me produce that id stood n watched them put up near 20 minutes before hand that was going cold and I had to ask for fresh stuff and the girl just sniggered n walked away n told someone to do it instead. Then called asking about deliveries which they used to do and still says they do on the web to have a really rude guy not even answer the phone with a hello barassie chippy just a grunt of hi. Used to be the best chippy in troon but just lost our custom and anyone that ever asks us again. Bring back the old owners that actually knew how to speak and treat customers well and didn't have rude incompetent staff. Last time I will spend our money there or ever asvise anyone else ro use them too. I worked there when I was younger for the old Italian man that had it he was fantastic and produce was always perfect they have let down the name of barassie chippy down which is such a shame. A friendly hello and staff that care would atleast make them regain a little more respect back

What can you say about Barassie Chippy, well I think it is pretty much self explanatory just like most chip shops it's a fish and chip shop and absolutely nothing else, the food is ok not too expensive you get your food and leave and not much more, nothing special.
