Best Fish and Chips in Girvan ...Melt in the mouth fish ..the small is MORE than enough

Got 2 small fish and chips to take to sea front. Great crispy batter and cooked to perfection. Chips lovely and tasty. Also nice and hot. Would recommend

Food was shockingly bad. Fish was FULL of bones, gave up eating it after the literal 15th bone. Fritters were caked in grease and hard. Poor quality food. Came back in 2018 and 2021, the food was great, not sure what’s happened since then!

Stopped of for a couple of sausage suppers on the way to the boat. Big portions, tasty food enjoyed at the harbour.

Just had a fish supper for lunch, probably the best I've had this year. The batter on the fish was excellent. I'll definitely be back.

Tried this place and never ever again , fish oil was burnt thus ruining any fish supper, the fish was tasteless with no texture and certainly wasn't haddock ! Sausages were pretty rubbish too and not traditional chip shop sausages ! Just a waste of money

Got lovely fish & chips from here late Sept 23. Busy place when ordering at the takeaway fish bar - you had to be on the ball and know your order (the local boys surely did) ! You did feel as if you hesitated for a second you were going to get scowled at 😬😅. Interesting & worth a visit for good food & the potential for looking stupid.

Asked for a smoked sausage supper, then noticed how nice fish looked and asked if I could change. I was told pretty forcefully by the lady , "we've already cooked the smoked sausage !!!!" There was a queue out the door ,surely someone else could have bought it . Won't be back

Not the best place to eat they microwave all the food in front of you even the battered stuff there was loads of files and they was all landing on the food but the staff wasn't bothered

Large fish supper is plenty for two. Prices excellent service excellent.A clean and pleasant eaterie inside or takeaway. Long established firm. Good parking.

Modest cafe attached to Fish & Chip Shop with usual fare (fish & chips etc) - the battered haggis/black pudding combo is quite tasty but felt re-heated. Chips were tired and did not appear fresh.

Excellent fish and chips and the service was really friendly. It was nice to watch the young lady who served us constantly finding work to do and never standing around.

Visited yesterday for our usual choice of fish supper and haggis supper. Unfortunately the fish & haggis batter was very overdone, dark & crispy. Could only eat the food inside the batter. Chips were good though. These days a fish supper is not cheap so it should be cooked properly to allow enjoyment and value for money.

Staff so unfriendly, our plates were flung on the table in front of us, I was left with a very bad food poisoning due to over cooked food that had obviously been lying for ages and reheated, definitely would not recommend the place should be closed down.

For a modest chippy, this place takes some beating! The gaffa & his staff are so warm, smiley & lovely! All our ‘southerner’ questions they were happy to accommodate. We decided upon a fish supper & a haggis supper too (since we had to try the local delicacies 😉). Freshly cooked & delicious, I would highly recommend 👍🏼💚☺️

What a lovely little chippy by the harbour! No frills but service was excellent, really friendly girls who went out of their way to help. Had a small fish tea which was just perfect and when I saw the size of the large, I knew I'd never have managed!! Food was fresh and tasted great and really reasonable prices. Would definitely return next time I'm up!

One of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The fish were nice and soft, don't even need a knife to cut it. The batter was so lovely I could've eaten it on its own. 10/10 would come again.

Called in at lunch time, steps up to door and one of party in wheelchair, not too much of an issue as portable ramp brought out by staff so could get through the door. Food good simple and old fashioned, chose pie and chips. pie was full of meat with chip shop chips, sandwiches made fresh to order. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Will be back next year when in Girvan again.

Busy wee place ...some loud lady in when we were in but family and kids having a great time at family dinner .. nice to see Lovrly friendly staff and tasty well priced food ..great locstion to for parking etc

This spot is great for lunch if you are visiting the beautiful coastal town of Girvan. Perfect location, close to the seaside and the GirvanHarbour. I was there with my son. He had fish supper, and I had smoked fish. The waitress was lovely, so hardworking. Our meal was freshly cooked and piping hot. We enjoyed our lovely lunch and the beautiful view. We highly recommend this business to anyone driving through Girvan. It is worth stopping by. You will be very happy there.

We didn't sit in the restaurant we had a take out but the service was excellent the food gets top marks and from what we could see it was a very clean well looked after restaurant

Drove 70 miles..told it was good fish supper..2 bits of fish one lovely n fresh..other slice was dried up and burnt must have been lying a while..would have complained but was on way back before I stopped to eat....won't miss them next time I'm in area !!!! Foods dear enough without that!!!!

The worst fish and chips I've had in at least the last 20 years. We had the fish dinner, two small pieces of fish and chips each. One piece of fish was so overcooked the batter was solid, this should never have been served. The other piece must have missed the filleting machine, over 20 bones in half of it, before I gave up, as it just wasn't nice to get bones every mouthful. So disappointed as was recommended to us and we drove especially to try it, and queued for ages to be served. No idea why it's so busy. Not somewhere you'd return to again surely

Was very disappointed with my visit. The fish was a small piece of fish which was very greasy and the chips were crunchy and unedible. It's fair to say I won't be returning any time soon.

Just had fish supper and king rib batter was terrible overdone. chips were aw crispy and tore your throat when swallying if I hadn’t took them back to caravan I’d have slapped them back on the counter after all these aren’t cheap. Was wary when we saw aw the fish getting slapped out and batter was all crumbling to the side when they landed in hot tray absolute joke serving food like that

Tasty fish and chips at a good price

Don't know why but the fish I ordered was not very nice very bland and no taste.

We were visiting Girvan for the day and looked for somewhere to have a dinnertime meal, we parked in the car park at the harbour entrance and noticed the Harbour Cafe and so decided to give it a go, we were met at the door by a very friendly staff member and shown to a table, we were 4 adult's and the table was a little small however we managed, we were given menus and decided to have the fish tea (2 fish) this was fish, chips, peas or beans, bread and butter and either tea or coffee all for £9.80 (2022), great value. It didn't take long to arrive and it was a good plate full, the fish batter was light and crisp and the chips were light and fluffy not greasy at all, the mushy peas were great home soaked not processed out of a tin, we all enjoyed our meal and would go again

I've not had the chance to eat at this chip shop. But will be going back to girvan in June can't wait to eat in the clean well space if your worried about COVID. 😷 The harbour cafe chip shop it's always packed and ques in the take out going out to the street. With many happy faces going home with there supper.. see you nx month the harbour cafe / chip shop. 😜😋 Sharon.

The service was polite and friendly, the food was delicious. I hate a fish tea that came with 2 large pieces of fish, chips, beans, bread and butter and a pot of tea for £12. There were 5 in our group and we all enjoyed it. Highly recommended this place. Thanks Abbie from Hamilton, Ontario Canada

Got sausage suppers the batter was solid not worth the money £25 and seagulls got most of it

Sat in, waited for around 10 minutes and went up to till to order. Was told to sit down and they'd be with me in a minute, they then served 5 people. Waited another 5 minutes and and still no service. Walked out.

Good staff quick service food is always fresh and hot and you get a good cup of coffee and no stingy portions

The harbour Restaurant Girvan is nice place for fish tea and other meals looking over Girvan Harbour.

Wee drove 1hour 30 minutes just to go here Fritters were fabulous and the spicy Goujons and the sauce the gutl fr6the chip shop advised was absolutely gorgeous and the dun came out too top it all. Very friendly staff and cheap as chips definitely worth every mile and every penny.

Stopped in for fish & chips after a shopping trip, decided to sit in for a change. Staff very pleasant & helpful, food was spot on & reasonably priced, well worth a visit.

I live in Blackpool and work around Scotland and Ireland and always stop here fantastic food always great service from a good team of people many thanks . There's only one thing there needs to be a toilet on site then you would be the best chip shop in Scotland

Went on the spur of the moment and were met with a friendly smile and hello. Great service and delicious food. My husband had the blaggis which he said was very tasty and I had the 'small' fish tea. Small the portion was not. A huge, hot crispy plateful and the best homage mushy peas. Would highly recommend.

It wasn't bad, but we were looking for something else, this establishment was more for families and teenagers, there was no beer or alcoholic beverages. But the service staff were very friendly and the portions were generous.
