Carlton Hotel Prestwick in South Ayrshire

Second visit and excellent stay again. Great room, food and all members of staff. Decor first class as are all the Rad hotels I have visited

Food was good rooms lovely. Was near Prestwick and Ayr.

Hosted our wedding here. Amber and the event team were wonderful. Couldn't have asked for more from them. We had the bridal suite. It was wonderful. Guests said same as us that rooms were too warm. Windows open sorted that for a time. Mahrena suite where myself and bridesmaids got ready was lovely. Plenty room. However it was just one big room, and I had to keep running to matron of honours room for the loo. ( I hadn't been able to view it on previous visits as it was in use). Also no private area to dress. The food for the wedding breakfast was amazing. Serving staff were friendly and very helpful. The big problem is lack of communication between the systems used. Incredibly important information such as my niece being highly allergic to certain things was not shared. Our bridal breakfast list was lost, and allergens were subsequently lost for bridal brunch. My Mum was extremely upset, especially as the food was held up and we had diabetics in the room - me being one of them. Reception day staff were rude to my Mum, butting into a conversation she was already engaged in with the other staff member who was trying to help. It was an especially emotional day as my Dad just passed in September. It felt a big let down. The bandstand made for a fabulous backdrop for our photos. The trees were stunning. Unfortunately the slabbing had been washed so puddles were everywhere. The dress got it. The private lounge is beautiful, 20s feel. Stunning lighting and near the only toilet close to it which is in the reception area. The disabled toilet, which I would have to use anyway, is definitely big enough for a Bride with a princess dress and a helper. Also very clean. The wedding breakfast was delicious, just about everyone raved about it. Special meal requests were met and fulfilled no problem. Only problem was the night before, the spaghetti carbonara was swimming in grease. I had gone to bed before everyone was finished so I don't think she brought it to anyone's attention. Amber was fantastic at calming my nerves, her coordination really made everything run smoothly. She was a saving grace and ensured anything that cropped up was dealt with quickly, efficiently and without myself or my groom having to worry. 100% ask for Amber. Wherever she may be.

Went here for my Husbands birthday. Food was good, albeit expensive. However the service was great - our food was brought by the foreign-sounding waitress Stephania who was very nice and asked if we needed anything more. We will definitely be back!

Was here for my aunt and uncle’s wedding yesterday, the rooms are beautiful and well kept. Service only got 3 stars due to a few hiccups between a member of staff and one of the wedding party, but otherwise the food and the quality of it was excellent. Their rolls and sausage are out of this world! Also such a beautiful venue to get married. The waiting staff and Amber, the wedding planner, were all lovely.

Just had an overnight getaway here for girls. Excellent!! The accommodation; recently refurbished, spotlessly clean, warm, nice bedding/towels - Food; 2 courses with multiple choices; lovely presented, warm, good portions, beautiful desserts, with no complaints. Again, repeat for breakfast - lovely. We found all the staff pleasant, courteous, and absolutely nothing seemed a bother. Excellent away break from my hotel break.

All staff were friendly and professional. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was to a very good standard with plenty of choice. Very good value for money and I would definitely stay again and recommend.

Had a really lovely stay at this hotel. Staff were really welcoming and friendly and delivered an excellant service from reception staff to breakfast and restaurant staff. Our room was lovely and clean and bed was so comfortable. The food at breakfast and dinner was delicious and there was plently of choice. I will definately return to this hotel and would recommend to family and friends.

Enjoyed, hogmanay ball with brothers and wives

Had afternoon tea in the restaurant myself and 3 friends. Was left disappointed by the service we got. We were given our teas and coffee then had to wait another 30 minutes for our sandwiches and cakes to arrive. In the meantime we had no sugar so we had to ask a member of staff which felt like it was a chore to go and get us some. Nobody came to ask if everything was ok and we weren't offered any top ups with our tea or coffee. Which was disappointing because I've been a couple of times before and was offered on both occasions. Sandwiches were nice enough but we felt that the cakes weren't the freshest. Nobody came near us the whole time and we had to go to the desk to pay where we weren't even asked if everything was ok. The staff member who served us didn't even make eye contact or even a thank you. As I work in the hospitality industry myself I know this isn't good customer service and our experience was disappointing.

Room was modern and clean. The service was excellent. Staff couldn’t do enough for you.

Absolutely fabulous meal today 22nd December at Logans in the Carlton Hotel as a celebration for my Son who would of been 43yrs old today. But he will always be Just be 29years old Thank you to the staff serving us today 22nd December

Always lovely food. Great staff and a lovely looking place

The food is not good. On day one I was given a room that was occupied. The couple in it were really worried when I crashed in with my bags. They replaced my door lock while I was there and then the door would not close if I was on the outside. I had to unlock the door to release the catch. It wa all a bit amateurish

Decidedly average and overrated. The prices charged do not accurately reflect the quality of food, service and the aesthetics of the actual hotel. The lentil soup was watery and tasteless, then there was a near half hour wait as staff frantically went to a supermarket as they had clearly miscounted the number of vegetarians amongst the guests. Once more supplies has been sourced, the main was extremely disappointing, the breast of chicken was dry, rubbery and tasteless (obviously not helped by having to be kept warm as more supplies and meals were prepared for the vegetarians. Overall the service was slapshod, and not what I would expect for a tourist class hotel masquerading as a "premium" wedding venue. The bar prices etc do not warrant the service and surroundings of say the Brig o Doon, or the Seamill Hydro (both of which are also owned by the same operator). Do yourself a massive favour and stick to these hotels when expecting to get what you pay for. I've had better food and service in a Blackpool guest house, for a lot less money.

Logans was fairly quiet ordered 3 hot filled rolls pot of tea for 2 and 1 latte. Hot rolls came first no sign of hot drinks 10mins later I had to ask this is not good enough service

We have stayed here on a number of occasions the staff and the facilities are really good. Bedrooms are so comfortable and the staff go the extra mile to help you.

Food and service were on point . Cajun chicken faghita burger was a master stroke .

All round good hotel, staff all courteous, friendly and helpful. Breakfast and evening dinner good everything's cooked fresh and good quality. Thought the drinks prices a little expensive.

Lovely 2 night stay, couldn’t fault it

I stayed with 2 friends for a tribute night,the room was clean and warm and well stocked hospitaly tray .we had lunch perfect panini.the meal at night was really nice and a great breakfast,each and every person of staff I met was friendly and helpful.

Attended a wedding at the hotel and it was magnificent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent and two waitresses entertained us after the meal. We stayed overnight and the room we had was very comfortable. Good breakfast choices and overall good quality hotel. Only downside was the prices at the reception but, I suppose it's the same everywhere.

Attended an after funeral tea in the family suite .food was fine if only we hadnt had to share one plate of sandwiches and 6 sausage rolls between 8 adults.service was very average.

We just love staying at the Carlton , Kirsty and staff are so helpful and friendly. Nicola is great at breakfast .

Stayed for dinner, bed, breakfast snd tribute night for a 60th birthday gift. Overall experience was great however, breakfast options on room service could be better and the order form clearer. This resulted in only 8ne breakfast being sent however, it was quickly rectified.

Stayed 16/08/24 The hotel is gorgeous our room was lovely, clean and comfortable, the staff are so warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for us, well we had dinner what can I say it was delicious and plentiful we had no room left for dessert so I asked if we could have a doggy bag 😀 which was no trouble at all, I'm so glad I did we ate it later chocolate fudge cake yum. We would definitely recommend the Carleton Hotel 5* from us, we will return

We have stayed at the Carlton Hotel on several occasions and the quality of service & value for money are both excellent

I couldn't fault the service I received the staff were very helpful and pleasant the room was very clean so a thank you to the cleaning staff the quality of the food was excellent would not think twice about returning it was a lovely experience

Went here for a works Night Out. So I can't comment on the rooms or service in that department.j The food was OK but overpriced and the portion size was atrocious. I revisited here to give it another chance. MUCH better this time. I was with a couple of my workmates and we went for lunch. So much better than last time. The service was great, portion size much better. I have updated my rating accordingly.

This is a lovely hotel right in the middle of Prestwick with plenty of parking available. My only issue was the wifi, I was here working close by and needed good connection for my laptop and it was very slow and kept dropping signal

Nice hotel in an ideal location for our visits to Culzean Castle and Dumfries House. Good food and service. Room a little noisey due to Kitchen Extractor Fans but otherwise all good.

the room we stayed in was very clean and decorated very well. The staff were very friendly and always looked happy. At first, i thought the meal portions were small but that was just me trying to waste food because i couldn't finish dinner or breakfast. i would definitely stay here again.

Top notch service and absolutely lovely staff. Megan sorted out an issue with my accommodation very efficiently. The breakfast has a lot of variety and is a combination of buffet and ordering off a menu. Would be happy to return here!

This was the worst experience I have ever had , room was small but clean and comfortable , bed was zipped together not a problem usually but on this occasion it kept digging into partner so not a great sleep . Shower was filthy and had gritty like bits coming through the water . So no sleep and no shower . Then to top it all off down for breakfast , only to be again disappointed in buffet offering . Cereal, toast or a small bowl of fruit was only option. Toaster didn’t work so ended up with “ warm bread “ . And then the cooked breakfast what can I say except disgusting grease filled plate and what little was on plate was cold and un edible . So we left tired sore and hungry . Avoid this place if you want a good sleep and a good breakfast .

We had my mum’s funeral reception here, it was really important for us as she had absolutely loved going to the Carlton at any opportunity. The staff really went out their way to meet our requests and make the event special. We had items for a display table with memories for my mum, and we were a bit worried about setting it up before the guests arrived after the cemetery. But when we got there, the staff had already set it out really beautifully and were ready to welcome everyone. It made the whole even stress free and enjoyable despite the occasion. We had requested the food they provide be high tea themed as it was something my mum had loved. We were REALLY happy with when the provided for us on the day. Even when everyone left they gathered the leftover cakes on a table with boxes for people to take home. If I hadn’t had to leave the country on a flight soon afterwards I would have popped back in to thank the staff for all they did.

Couldn't find any fault with the rooms, location or staff but the breakfast was a little lacking for a true Scottish breakfast experience.

Had our Wedding at the Carlton Hotel in February 2024, the day was amazing with no hiccups. My wedding rep was amazing. The food was amazing couldn’t fault anything. The grounds were perfect for professional photos especially by the band stand. I would however recommend, should you require lights around the bandstand for evening photos, ensure you arrange for lights to be places on the roof. This is the only thing I was disappointed with, I was expecting there to be lights so never arranged for any to be placed on the roof. There is however lights across the trees which is just as nice with sparklers. The honeymoon suite was beautiful however the bath needs to have a new plug as you need to use a sucker to empty the water. Was funny at the time. The staff however were amazing and so friendly. I highly recommend the Carlton for your wedding.

Lovely corporate type hotel. Most definitely a focus on weddings and functions. Room nice, bit small for price and very warm. Fan provided but really a wee bit of air con would have been nice. Lack of information from reception, could have been better. Handy enough and easy to jump on a bus. Bit noisy due to wedding in full flow. Would I stay again, for the price possibly not! Breakfast swift and decent enough choice.

We attended a wedding reception here and the service and food we had were very good. Drink wise we found it a bit expensive.

Here for a golf holiday with a group of 20 guys. The hotel is clean, has a secure room for storing golf clubs and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for exploring the many golf courses along this stretch of coast. Parking is free and plentiful and the bar prices are reasonable too. Highly recommended

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel recently, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The staff were extremely hospitable and the services provided were exceptional. Lovely food , great choices , attentive staff

We stayed in a lovely comfortable room that was nicely decorated. The only downside is the mattress. Whilst we had a good sleep, the mattress had big dips in it and therefore really needs to be replaced. Otherwise it was a lovely stay. Staff were v friendly (they sorted out my expired RAD voucher) The food was excellent. We had steak, steak pie, onion bhajis and tempura. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you and would definitely stay again.

We were welcomed very warmly by TJ at reception and then checked in to our room very efficiently. TJ had taken the liberty of booking me a ground floor room as I require crutches to get about. This was carried out very sensitively as sometimes you can be Made to feel a nuisance when not able to accept the first room offered by a hotel. My disability was treated as any able bodied person which was a nice change. The room was clean and tidy and quite close to reception and the dining room meaning I didn’t have far to walk to access all the facilities. Dinner was on a RAD deal and we were talked through all the options including being able to mix and match from the deal menu and the a la carte options which should satisfy most people's tastes. Dinner was served very efficiently and was piping hot. It was delicious. We had a great sleep in our comfortable double room overnight which was warm and surprisingly quiet through the night. Breakfast options were explained to us in the morning without prompting and the order taken very quickly. Both of us had a cooked breakfast with differing ingredients but they were served quickly and were obviously freshly cooked to order. Points were collected on our RAD loyalty card when checking out and once again we were made to feel valued customers by TJ in reception. Would thoroughly recommend the Carlton in Prestwick, but all the group hotels are excellent value so you can take your pick and be guaranteed a super stay.
