We had two breakfasts here. Has an institutional atmosphere so would not come here for a romantic meal. Service seemed a bit unorganized but the breakfast food was awesome in quality and quantity.

Terrible. It’s not a restaurant for starters, it’s a canteen. There were two long tables with a group of elderly patrons, but the place was less than half-full. (There are also seated areas at the back that were empty) Although I was staying at the Centre, when I asked to see a menu the lazy student posing as a waitress said that they were full… Judging by the bog standard plate of fish & chips she was carrying I didn’t feel too disheartened, but anyone could see that there was plenty of space if they were half-arsed to serve their customers. Avoid like the plague (as with the bog standard accommodation which costs over £100 but is barely above hostel quality…)

Met a friend at this canteen/'restaurant' Lamb was microwaved, cold on one side frazzled on the other, the veg was boiled to within an inch of its life, menu is like a rough pub from the 90s. Didnt stay for pudding. Will not be returning. The Staff were lovely though

Nice view if you get a window table, if not it's like a too brightly lit canteen, not the best ambiance to enjoy an evening meal. Staff were polite and friendly. Food was mediocre. I got the lamb shanks with leek mash and red wine and rosemary gravy. I'm not sure if the chef forgot the rosemary but I couldn't taste it, it was also used very sparingly which left me eating dry mashed potato which wasn't leek mashed potato as advertised on the menu. Very disappointed. I ended up pouring my partners left over gravy out of his steak pie on to my mash so I could eat it without it clogging up my mouth. We paid £20 95 for the pleasure of the lamb even though the menu in our room stated 18.95. Turn down the lights, pay a little more attention to detail and it will be better.

The restaurant is part of the Management Centre accommodation. If you are staying there then it is a convenient place to eat. Breakfast is excellent. For evening meals there is a pub-style menu; scampi and chips, vegetable curry, haddock and chips, pie and mash etc. We ate there on two evenings. The food is unremarkable. The atmosphere in the large open dining room is more “canteen” than restaurant. The staff are presumably students; they were very friendly but rather unsure what to do. Perhaps they were new. We asked for a coffee with our desserts. We were initially told coffee wasn’t available, then the waiter came back and said that they had asked in the kitchen and that we could have a filter coffee, so we ordered two coffees. After 30 minutes wait we gave up on the idea of finishing the meal with a coffee, paid the bill and left. Perhaps our expectations were too high. The rave reviews on Trip Advisor, photos of beautiful dishes and the reference to Welsh cuisine make you think it is going to be rather special. It isn’t special, but it’s OK.

I was attending a family event and decided to stay at the business centre, the restaurant is part of it. Had two evening meals and two breakfasts. 1st evening chicken burger, very well seasoned and presented. No complaints. Breakfast is hot and well cooked, but a skight wait for freshly fried eggs. Second evening meal, steak pie. Well well its one if the nicest I've had, served with mash, and well cooked vegetables. I was giddy and followed up with sticky toffee pudding, again delicious. Now the menu is not big, but what they do they do well. Now the bit I really want to bring to the attention of the readers, the serving staff are young, efficient and very polite, they are students at the University, well done you, the university should be proud of you.

We spent two nights at The Management Centre and ate in the 1884 restaurant on both nights. On the first night, we hadn't booked, but we were welcomed with open arms despite explaining that all 3 of us have gluten and dairy intolerances. We all had the slow cooked beef rib on the first night off the specials board which fell off the bone and was so tender. We all agreed it was the best meal we'd had in a long time. Chef came out to speak to us and ask how the food was. She was so lovely and friendly and offered to make us a gluten and dairy free crumble with custard. It was absolutely delicious. On the second night, we all had a different dish each...chicken supreme, 6 hour slow braised pork belly and a slow roast lamb shank. All the meals were amazing. Jack was great at looking after us both nights and chef was amazingly accommodating with our dietary issues. None of us were ill after, so cross contamination wasn't an issue. We also had a cooked breakfast each morning and had bacon, poached/fried eggs, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and gluten free toast. We will definitely be back! No photos as the food was so amazing, we had cleared the plates before I remembered to take them.

The restaurant is quiet and unassuming, tastefully decorated, and so quiet that it is almost eerie, however the food was just divine. The three cheeses pasta with chicken (off the specials board) was so flavour-some and had so many cheese dimensions that is was just a delight to eat. The battered haddock was fresh and beautifully cooked and served with chips and peas and it was just lovely. The service is very professional and efficient. Jack was our server and he knew the menu, the wine & beer recommendations and had a witty sense of humour. The view from our table was overlooking Menai Strait, it was just a very pleasant and relaxing evening with delightful food. The portions are generous, but we still had to taste the Sticky Toffee Pudding which I can only describe as delicious and divine. The restaurant is worth seeking out, it was a faultless dining experience. And do try the local Purple Moouse Snowdonia Ale.

After drinking in an excellent pub (The Globe) we thought we would book an evening meal in the 1884 restaurant. We were not disappointed I had a very moist Cajun Chicken Burger and my wife the seared gammon. Both main delicious and filling and we both had a good glass of wine.£36.50 for a lovely meal in a quiet setting - very reasonable.

We ate here whilst staying at the management centre. The food was reasonably priced and after seeing photos on here and reading the menu I was a bit confused as the menu was pub fare really. Burgers, steak, gammon etc. It was very tasty but I’d have liked some vegetables with my steak. The chairs are very tatty and the room is where breakfast is served so there is a big screen blocking self service tables. Staff very friendly. Go for a nice meal but don’t expect fine dining. Also you need to book.

The breakfast had some decent options if you're willing to use your imagination as a vegan. However, more options that some places in town. Which was a nice change- It is not the breakfast which makes this a delightful experience, the service was incredible and honestly change my whole mood for the day. My main server Maria I believe has a golden personality and is a credit to her team. She is kind and bubbly, very attentive and funny. This was a delightful morning.

We booked for evening meal with high hopes after other reviews on TA, but were overall disappointed with the average quality of the food and rather overpriced for what you got. I had Thai fishcake starter, which was rather mushy not crisp on the outside, and two tiny fishcakes for £5.50. Hubby had the soup, supposed to be leek and potato but he said tasted just of potato, so again disappointing and seeming like they were trying to make it very cheaply. My main course of prawn curry with rice and naan bread was a small portion of tasty curry bulked out by a large portion of rice, again mostly the cheap ingredients and not much of the actual curry. Hubby chose cod with mashed potato and 'chantennay carrots', which turned out to be a small portion of quite bony fish, not much very dry mash and broccoli instead of the carrots. So both mains OK but rather disappointing in quality. Hubby had chocolate mousse to finish, which was not very chocolatey, too dense and rather flavourless he said. The only redeeming quality was a glass of house white and rose we each had, which were both very nice wines, if not really chilled enough. An average meal at quite high prices (£14 each for mains) which we felt was like home cooked food but at restaurant prices. We won't be back and don't recommend to others. Staff very friendly and worked hard.

The food in this resteraunt is delicious. I lived most of my life in North Wales and never expected to discover a hidden gem like this. I started with the Welsh rarebit which was scrumptious and was accompanied by a salad which made the texture of the dish perfect. In between the starter and the main we were given a blood orange sorbet from 'lwy ar Mon' that was divine. the highlight of the meal was the main, which was the duck, this was exquisite and was supported by a sweet muffin that was very gratifying. I struggled to pick a dessert as there was such good choice on the menu, I eventually went for the selection of ice creams which were heavenly.

Although the menu has limited choice, there are some great sounding main courses available. From a table of 4, the Red snapper was chosen by 2 and the 1884 burger by the other 2.I had the Burger which was on a hard bun which came with no sauces, relish or butter and the burger was extra dry. I had to ask for ketchup and filled the bun with my salad just to try and moisten it up. (This was the same for both of us having the burger)The others eating Red snapper both agreed that this dish is just an average dish with no real flavor.Fortunately our party of 4 was hungry and are not accustomed to complaining unless its something serious.A positive from the dinner is that 3 of us tried the blueberry cheesecake and this I can definitely recommend.

I got really hard children and ice- cream that I normally don't eat. If the restaurant could not afford to cook for 60 to 70 Persons for dinner, then it should not take the orders at all. Besides, the staff there are really rude. They forced us to accept the food that we don't normally eat or like. What a service! The food is definitely not worth 30 pounds. I am very disappointed.
