Great experience at this restaurant. Good menu with plenty of choice, all 4 of us had well cooked food and good service. Will return when next in the area. Food good value, wines maybe a little pricey but the list was impressive for a modest sized restaurant. Espressos need a bit of tweaking to get to a genuine Italian version but otherwise one of the best Italian restaurants we have been to in some time.

I had the best vegan meal I've ever had in this restaurant! It was all so fresh, flavoursome and perfectly portioned. My partner who isn't vegan also thoroughly enjoyed his. The staff were friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is that we were just tourists and don't live locally!

We stopped here on a visit to Castleton as we thought it looked lovely on the outside and we fancied a pizza. We chose a table outside and I went in to get some menus. I was met with a questioning look, which felt uncomfortable but the waitress said she’d be out to take our order. A group sat down next to us and someone came out to take their drinks orders but ignored us. We then waited a few more minutes but no one came out. We appeared to be the only two tables outside, so it was very odd. We decided to leave and went next door to the Rose Cottage cafe, and had a delicious meal!

My family and I visited this restaurant this evening for a belated birthday and anniversary meal, to which we were extremely disappointed with. The service was incredibly slow and the lasagne was awful and inedible, then when asked by the waitress if everything was okay with it, it was explained that it wasn’t nice and too strong, and there was no apology at all or no discount given seen as it was not eaten. We will not be back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Shocking.

A glorious find in the heart of Castleton after a Thursday afternoons hiking. We hadn't booked but luckily were able to find a table as we were eating early. Offered a choice of still, sparkling or tap water immediately on seating, then chose a bottle of Pinot to share, a shared starter of warm bread with dips / spreads, my wife had the lobster cream tagliatelle and I went for the beef cheek lasagne with a side salad of kimchi and cucumber. Everything was excellent and served with a smile in a very comfortable dining room. Dessert was offered but by now we were fully replenished and sadly declined, maybe next time. Just shy of £35 per head for two courses and a bottle of wine represented excellent value for money. The pizzas being served to other customers looked enticing, certainly one to look out for next time we are in the area

Fantastic little Italian restaurant, serving modern tweaks to traditional dishes. We shared a wild mushroom bruschetta starter which was delicious and a nice ease in to our meal. Seafood pasta main was fresh and filled with seafood and a fantastic sauce that didn't overwhelm. Beef brisket lasagna was an interesting twist on the traditional dish, rich, melting beef in-between perfectly cooked lasagna sheets and a creamy, rich, cheesy sauce. Tiramisu was a step too far as i was full, but my only comment was that the savoiardi sponges could have been soaked in the coffee/booze mixture for longer. A very drinkable Gavi went well with our choices and we finished with a couple of liquors. All for around £100 which in this day is very reasonable. Service was excellent- we ordered at the same time as a large party and the kitchen was switched on and made sure we weren't waiting. A very pleasant evening in lovely surroundings. I'd definitely Recommend 1530 for dinner if you are in Castleton. Booking is recommended as they are very popular.

This is such a lovely restaurant, the staff were really welcoming and super helpful. They were checking and giving us complimentary water top ups and being really attentive. My wild mushroom bruschetta with spinach and garlic sauce was amazing and flavoursome and tasted really fresh. The dream maker pizza I had was the best pizza I have ever eaten and the staff were real lovely and swapped the cheese for me when I ordered. The ingredients were all really fresh and balanced and the base was perfectly thin and crispy with lovely thicker crust. I could really tell it was home made. Although everything on the menu sounded so delicious I struggled to choose, I wanted to eat everything! If you don’t go here when I’m the area you are really missing out and I couldn’t recommend this place more. It had a lovely homely atmosphere and the food was immaculate. This was evident as the restaurant was fully booked so clearly a favourite with both locals ans tourists.

A cracking independent Bistro with fabulous food, and great wine list. We visited 8 years ago, and were delighted to find it in the same ownership, with delicious food, great staff and service. The courtyard garden is a lovely. We finished off our meal with some deserts and drinks sat there. All in all, a wonderful bistro, we will not wait as long to revisit. Don't hesitate book it.. you won't be disappointed.

After venturing deep within the ‘devil’s arse’ we decided to head to a near by English pub for a quick bite. It was founded in 2012 by its owners who met in Australia. It sports a slightly mediaeval interior with its stoned walls dating back to 1530. At our time of visiting which was approximately 3pm in the afternoon, we had the luxury of having the entire dining room to ourselves and had our meals served piping hot and bursting with flavours. If ever we had any regrets, it would be walking into the restaurant with half full tummies which limited us from ordering more. Excellent meal. Staying in Castleton for the weekend and we book this on for our first night. Lovely welcoming restaurant and menu made everything sound delicious and we weren’t disappointed. Started with the Charcuterie Board, we loved it, especially the Duck. For main course I had a Risotto with Roast Duck it was superb. Then for desert I had the Affogato... it was AMAZING! Best I’ve ever had, Expresso, Cappuccino Ice Cream, Amaretto, Chocolates and Shortcake. Kids loved their meal, the kids pizza was a good size and we were able to bring some back in a box. Convivial atmosphere and friendly staff. The starter of garlic prawns lacked any garlic but still quite tasty. Padron peppers were delicious. Tried to book a dinner table here but they were sadly fully booked. We opted for a takeaway pizza as everyone raves about them - but what should’ve been a thin based pizza ended up being a tiny circle of not well pulled dough piled up thick with toppings. Had half of it as by this point we were starving but could not manage to finish it. Appalling. Probably the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten including frozen ones from the local corner shop.

Asked some local people what they'd recommend and they told us this restaurant so we made a booking online to eat in - plus, they are currently doing the Dine Out to Help Out scheme which allows you to get £10 off per person. When we turned up, our waitress was very friendly and all the tables were as per the Covid regulations, with hand sanitiser at the door. We ordered the charcuterie as a starter with smoked culatello, prosciutto ham and duck prosciutto-wholeheartedly recommend the latter, was the best of the three by far! Served with lovely warm bread, pickes, olive tapenade and some butter, though it would have been nice to have three pieces of bread for three people! For the mains we all had pastas, and I had the beef ragu and wild mushroom tagliatelle. Serving was a bit on the small size but the sauce was super rich and the pasta well cooked, a very good pasta dish! Ultimately despite some slight mathematical miscalculations in deducting the dine out to help out scheme money, we had a good time here and I would definitely recommend to you in the area. (I would NOT recommend getting a takeaway pizza though...£6 pizzas with the scheme, yes, but they seem to have reduced the size alongside the price...)

Myself and my boyfriend visited here tonight for dinner. We had booked a table and that may be recommended should you visit. The staff working were very friendly and welcoming, however service was slow even though the restaurant was not full. It took 40 mins for our starters to arrive, the wait times were similar for tables around us. We ordered the padron peppers with oxtail, the pumpkin arancini and the mushroom bruschetta to start. Unfortunately the padron peppers were bland, you couldn't taste the oxtail at all. Similarly the arancini were bland. You could barely taste the pumpkin, and could not taste the fotina cheese at all. The mushroom bruschetta was as advertised and was tasty. I ordered the chicken carbonara and my boyfriend had the slow braised oxtail and sirloin burger as a main. My carbonara was lovely, however I would have preferred it without the chicken. A traditional carbonara does not come with chicken and I felt that it just didn't go well. For some bizarre reason I found a piece of tomato or red pepper in my sauce, as shown in the photo which definitely should not have been in there. The sauce otherwise was tasty. My boyfriends burger however was a different story. It was too rich and greasy. It definitely could have done with some salad to cut through the greasiness. My boyfriend also asked to upgrade his fries to the Gino fries, however when the bill arrived we were charged for a separate portion of Gino fries (£5) even though his burger has fries included in the price. I would have thought upgrading the fries wouldn't cost as much as an additional portion, we assumed the upgraded fries would be a supplementary cost. Bringing the total of a burger and fries to £g hand sanitiser around the restaurant, this should not be in place of hand soap and I am shocked that they allowed this to be overlooked.

The garlic prawns were cooked to perfection, the black pudding and leek lollipops went so well with the prawns - we recommend that as a combination. The calamari was perfect and the charcuterie was very tasty. Mains didn't disappoint - beautiful pizza, cottage pie was delicious, the lamb sirloin so tender, beef and wild mushroom was delicious and the king prawn linguine was out of this world - the best creamy sauce ever tasted.Desserts too were incredible - cheesecake, white chocolate marscapone mousse both delicious but our highlights were the chocolate fondants - amazing.Highly recommended. I cannot recommend this gem of a place enough! We had come to Castleton on our 1st date. The Bull and Castle were close for food due to the adverse weather and upon spotting 15 30 we honestly thought it would be fully booked. Lisa very kindly made sure we had a corner table with high seats. It smelt divine and there was a lovely ambience. Adie is intolerant to gluten but they had a whole array of gluten free options including Peroni so that was an additional bonus! They also stocked Moretti which I was extremely pleased about. The menu had wide choices but we both opted for steaks. The steaks were cooked to perfection with fries and we had peppercorn sauce which was served in a tiny jug. The presentation was excellent. Lisa said how run off her feet she had been as due to pub closures, everyone has descended there. The young lady with the dreadlocks who was waiting on was amazing too. Water was provided at the table and we were given chocolate orange coins with the bill. Incidentally, it was so reasonable. I was expecting the bill to be far more considering what we had and I had 2 bottles of Moretti. Would we go again? Yes. Would I recommend? Absolutely. 10/10 to 15 30. They were actually on their phones in between preparing courses - no gloves on. It took a while for our order to be taken but once done, the food arrived very quickly. The staff were very knowledgable about gluten free requirements and where there was any uncertainty they checked with the chef to confirm, which was reassuring and gave us confidence to dine there. We enjoyed it so much we went back for more the following evening.

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time, on a Monday night. The staff are pleasant, the ambience of the setting is romantic and the quality of the food is excellent. Plus, the pizzas are only £6 on Monday evening. What are you waiting for..? Get there a.s.a.p..!

We have very good friends who live in Cheshire and we live in South Yorkshire so we are always looking for a central location to meet for lunch, with varying results. 1530 is just about central and we lunched there today to celebrate our friend’s birthday. I think this will now become our special place to meet. We all enjoyed an excellent lunch, nothing disappointed, really, really good, well presented and tasty food. We were served by the owner, her husband is the chef (hope his back is getting better), lovely lady, very welcoming and patient, particularly with me as I NEVER know what I want and as this menu is predominantly Italian, nightmare for me to chose as I love Italian food. The sea bass was lovely. Definitely recommended

This is the second time we've been and it won't be the last. Great food - great quality, well cooked and well presented. The decor is good and the atmosphere is relaxing. The staff are friendly and attentive, - they were very helpful when choosing gluten free food and a good gin ! We loved our evening.

The food was lovely, the sevice was amazing, they made sure we'd got everything we needed. We're a healthy group that don't really eat much and it was that good that we all ended up having three courses, (we'd normally dodge the dessert). We had a lovely chat with the aussie lady who runs it at the end as we were leaving and, as a team, they really do try to make it special. We're in Castleton 4-6 times a year, (parents in Hope), and have made a mistake by avoiding is as we don't like carb heavy foods. They have so much other stuff to choose from, we'll be back.

We arrived in Castleton on a Friday night at 6 and asked if they had a table for 2, they seemed to have a lot of reservations but fit us in and gave us a nice corner table. We had 2 servers working our area and both were nice. Food was ok, average wines and I wish it had been a bit brighter as my old eyes don't see as well as they used to.

Great decor, service, loation, staff. Pretty good overall, 2 really nice meals (and one a bit ordinary but fine). Loved the oxtail burger and the steak was generous sized and tasty. served water at the table without asking which always gets a big positive from me.

We have eaten at 1530 a few times before and wanted to return. We were greeted by a cheerful member of staff who showed us to a table and served us with water. Drink order promptly taken and delivered and food order taken. A bit of a wait for it to be served but that was no problem and suggested it was being cooked fresh.

This is a really lovely restaurant. We both had pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were there on a Monday night and took advantage of their £6 pizza offer - some restaurants would lower the quality when offering cheaper food but 1530 certainly delivered excellent quality. Pudding was also exceptional. The place was packed and we were lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked.

Great selection of food to suit all tastes from sharing platters, tapas dishes, typical Mediterranean and British dishes to pasta and pizza plus a superb choice of vegetarian and vegan options which were also cooked to perfection (not just a veggie option as a token gesture to keep the vegetarian in the corner happy). There was also a great drinks selection from beers, gins and spirits to a good range of wines. The food and drink are competitively priced and no more expensive than in the local pubs. We loved it so much we went twice during our week long stay!

We went to 1530 for a birthday meal as a family of 4. We live locally and can’t believe we haven’t been until now to eat! Nice atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff, very accommodating towards our 3 year old both with food, friendliness, colouring sheets etc. The food and drinks were beautiful, already planning when we can go again, thanks 1530!

Find Castleton’s eateries below par, feel they don’t really have to try as there’s so much tourist trade. Gave this a go as it had a lot of good reviews and generally I don’t fail with trip advisor!! There’s always a first. Maybe I’m too fussy. Decent ambiance although a little dark, like to see what I’m eating. Waitress service was a little slow but friendly. I had Beef Ragu which was ok but my husband had Lamb Shank which he was really disappointed with. It came covered in tomato sauce ?? which spoilt the dish. Others had varying dishes and all said it was just Ok!! My husband is a Tiramisu connassieur and this wasn’t one!!! Maybe trim down your menu and concentrate and quality.

We visited 1530 on the 24th August and wow the food and service was excellent and everything was made in house. I had the Double Pepperoni pizza which was wonderful and the other 3 in our party had the King Prawn Linguine excellent too followed by the Affogato. An excellent find and a hidden gem in Castleton.

This restaurant is really lovely, the food is lovely, the setting is lovely and the garden at the back is an added bonus. However, the staff are unfriendly to the point of being exceptionally rude and unfriendly and it is because of this that we will not be returning. We were made to feel unwelcome, intrusive and positively uncomfortable. There was no smile, no offer of second drinks and no offer of desserts. Very very poor!

Booked in as a treat for the last night of our short stay in castleton. Great to find a proper restaurant amid the usual pub grub. Starter, main and puddings were all excellent. Wine was good. Everything was reasonably priced.

We visited 1530 this weekend, a really lovely place with great staff but the food let it down. Tomato Garlic bread that had no garlic on it, Beef Ragu tagliatelle was lacking in flavour and had gristle in it. My friend ordered a new dish on the menu that was cauliflower based, it was so bitter, with way too much lemon rind in it, it was almost inedible. Not all dishes were disappointing but we wouldn’t return, shame because it could be a cracking restaurant.

We ate here as we were a bit 'pubbed out' with the same old menus in every establishment in the village. This is a really nice place. Pizza, pasta and some more traditional Italian meals were available. The service was really good. It was speedy but polite and friendly and the food when it came was smashing. It is not a cordon bleu restaurant but it is nicer than a pub. Two courses and a couple of glasses of wine and coffees was about £50 so not bad at all. Thanks

Good atmosphere and friendly and efficient waitress. Food on the whole was very tasty, and house wine extremely pleasant. Prices reasonable. But there were a couple of issues which grated and hence a 3 rather than 4 star review. I ordered a lamb dish which was advertised as being accompanied by a yogurt and mint dip. It wasn't until the dish arrived that i was told that there was no yogurt and mint dip as 'chef was unhappy with the consistency'. As a regular user of greek yogurt in (and with) savoury dishes this seemed a weak excuse. I was offered mayonnaise (which i can't stand) or balsamic vinegar - which was just wrong for the dish. Unfortunately, without this, the food seemed rather dry and not as tasty as it should have been. My husband had a calzone which looked to me a little burned. He said it was nice but certainly not the best he'd had. He had to ask for a steak knife to open it up. Then, just before i left, i used the loo. The tap wouldn't turn on, and although i tried hard i didn't want to use too much force in case it broke. i informed the manageress/owner who didn't seem surprised and said it probably just needed some WD40! I was rather surprised at her reaction as my view is that working taps in a restaurant toilet are essential. I haven't seen any other mention of this, so hopefully that was a one off issue.

We went as a couple. My wife is vegan but there was a small selection for her and she waxed lyrical about the main course she had. I chose the lamb shank which was delicious. Service was friendly, menu choice was large. We had a good evening there.

Enjoyed dinner here on our last evening. Mad Monday is a pizza offer and we were definitely ready for one after a walk that day. Food was great and service was even better. The two young women who looked after us had excellent customer service skills. A real credit to the restaurant, making an enjoyable experience a memorable experience. Thank you.

The website said they opened at 5.30, when I arrived it turned out they didn't plan to open til 6pm. After waiting around and getting v hungry I ordered the lemon chicken pasta for £12 - the bowl of food that turned up was so tiny I thought they had accidentally delivered it as the appetiser-sized option. But no - I was charged the full price for about 6 mouthfuls. The food was ok but nothing more than that and the price was ridiculous for the size of the portion.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. No surprise there are so many good reviews. Due to time restraints and commitments in the area we maybe didn't get the full experience however, what we did get was great food, very welcoming & helpful staff in a pleasant ambience. We will be back...
