129 HRD in Islington

I have been using 129 HRD for a couple of seasons now . It is a great stopping point between Highbury and Islington Station and the Emirates Stadium . I have been there for both lunch and dinner and sometimes just for a quick drink after the game . The food is of a good standard and fairly priced - and they have a decent selection of wines . But the place is made by the service and the warm welcome by the manager and his team . Thank you !

I have been coming to 129HRD since it opened as I work and live around the corner. I can't believe that it does not have queues out the door every night as the food is absolutely fantastic, the drinks delicious, and the service great. The food is always fresh (fish cakes, steak, seabream, mushroom pasta, and veggie burger are my favourites) and there is just enough on the menu to suit everyone. The wine choices are varied and the staff know exactly what they're talking about when they recommend a wine to you. The staff themselves are absolutely lovely and so welcoming every time. I think I come here once every 2/3 weeks and I never get bored of it. I think it is a total bargain for the quality and location, and really is Highbury's little secret. I 100% recommend and believe everyone should come here!

The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and the prices were reasonable for London (£25 per head for a main, dessert and drink). My sea bream was tasty, my partners duck was fine, but the skin wasn't crispy as it should have been. Wine was OK, but could have been better. Caramel in our salted caramel chocolate torte was burnt and shouldn't have been served, was made palatable by the ice cream.

We had a small Christmas party with a group of friends. The manager was very welcoming and chef personally came over to check if we were happy with the food and we definitely were! Seafood linguine was delicious and starter goats cheese salad was the best I ever had. If you’re ever there make sure to leave some space for chocolate cake and pistachio cake, both so fresh and tasty! I would definitely go again

We visited this restaurant twice whilst staying at our Airbnb across the road. Great food, prices and service. Highly recommend!

Great, modestly priced food with a really nice wine selection. Mussels in saffron cream, to die for. Delicious chicken liver pâté and great service. Thoroughly recommended.

Came in with my mate after the Burnley game and had a terrific dinner . Had the sharing starter which was very nice. The waiter recommended the rib eye steak which I had , it was top class. My mate had the mussels which he loved , I knicked a few of him and they were great. The waiters also came up with a suggestion for the ref wine again perfect. A couple of brandy’s warmed through finished it all off. A great restaurant you should try.

Went here last night, delicious food and wine at very reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Couldn’t fault it. Will definitely return.

We have been coming here for 18 months now...the place is a real gem. The food is always excellent.the manager friendly...it is comfortably busy but I don't understand why there are not queues out of the door. ...if you like good food do give this place a try.

We usually go to a nearby restaurant for brunch but decided to give this place a go for eggs royale. The quality was great but the portion was just too small, two eggs but on only one small slice of toast so not enough bread and not enough salmon. We left feeling hungry.

129HRD has maintained its high standards since day one -- June the first 2017. The service remains impeccable, the outstanding menu changes with the seasons, and the wine list is adventurous. The lunch menu -- with or without bubbly - is a great bargain.

My friend lives locally & recommended this spot! Have to say the food was lovely and fresh. I enjoyed the side dishes that accompany by main as well. My friends vegetarian option of mushroom Pasta was lovely too.
