Having dined in the restaurant previously with the family and had a really enjoyable 5🌟 meal, we decided to order a takeaway ready for us to watch the big ENGLAND V SCOTLAND game. Our orders were placed and we were told it would be ready in about half an hour. When we arrived to collect (I parked around the back, whilst my wife collected the meal) after 5 minutes my wife came back and said we will have to wait as the girl on the telephone (whose JOB is to take orders and pass on to the chef) hadn't even passed our request to the chef! After another 30 minutes we finally received our order, which when we arrived home we're missing the extras we had asked for (but we're still charged for!) it wasn't even as if the restaurant was busy either, so we were really disappointed by the whole experience!

Delightful and delicious. Unparalleled quality. I think this is the best place to seek a quality Syrian meal

Read the Evening News article about Samir's & also heard about it on Twitter and was keen to try. Managed to get a table on Friday evening and it was pretty busy. The girl serving us was a tad grouchy but we were there for the food, so it was fine. We ordered mutabal and kibbeh to start. The mutabal was stunning but the bread which came with it was stone cold. Kibbeh was delish but just slightly too salty. For mains we ordered a quzi & a spicy kebab. The portions are small. The rice in the puff pastry was bland and the dish was served alongside some yoghurt. The chilli kick from the spicy kebab was nice but the rest of the dish was unremarkable. The mains were generally disappointing. Finished with künefe and katayif, both of which were nice. The künefe was different to the Turkish variety we are used to. Pastry was less brown and crisp & there wasn't alot of syrup but the cheese portion was generous. The ice cream on the side also tasted a bit of rose water, which was nice. The katayif was a fried pastry filled with nuts & was freshly fried and drenched in syrup. Enjoyed the starters & desserts so will probably return for a mezze of the starters in future. Check Samir's out if you're in the area! It gets busy, so book if you're planning on visiting!

We’ve eaten here twice now and while I understand the difficulties others have had, as a vegetarian I have been pleased eating a selection of starters meze-style. The food has been great both times we visited and although the music isn’t great (I would prefer authentic Syrian music) it’s not offensive. The main thing that would improve the eating experience for me would be to have home made bread. Other than that, I love the food. Service does need prompting a little but I think it may be a cultural difference. This is new restaurant which is being run by a Syrian chef. Bearing in mind he is running the restaurant with very little money to invest, very little English to speak and, as Stretford has barely any eating out options, it always seems full. Go with realistic expectation and enjoy the authentic food.

Brilliant food & great service. Some of the dishes we wanted weren't available so we were given another choice & falafel free of charge. We were right by the speakers & music was a little loud, plus there was a large "shouty" man on the table next to ours.... I'm really not sure why some people feel a compelling need to bellow their conversation rather than converse at normal volume, but some obviously do?...... although this is hardly the fault of the excellent staff at Samirs

What can I say about this place! My friend and I visited this place last night. We were so excited as there are very few eating places in stretford. We visited this bistro last year, when it was under new management and it was lovely. I'll try to put our experience in a nutshell. It was absolutely awful. We got there at 7.00pm. Had a very long wait for our order to be taken. Things that were on the menu were not available, which we should have been told when we were given the menu. Starter and main came all together at 8.00pm. Food was either bland or very salty. It was just awful. Chef came out, wearing open toe shoes (health and safety breach)trying to apologise for the long wait and bad food. Table wasn't cleared so my friend put all our plates together as the waitress was just ignoring us. My friend took the plates and said 'shall I take these into the kitchen '! Guess what the waitress said? 'YES PLEASE'(health and safety breach). What a joke. After a while, I got up to rescue my mates and couldn't believe my eyes! The kitchen was in such a state. Food all over the floor, bin overflowing with waist. My friend was trying to sort stacked up plates, until I asked her to come out. After all that, the bill came showing £5 corkage fee and £30 for food. We complained to the waitress but she just wasn't interested. I'm still in shock now. We both want to support our local businesses and feel sad it was such an awful experience. But this was totally unacceptable and we will not be back. To add insult to injury, out council has put money into this business which I assume is money that has come out of our taxes. What a waste.

Most awful food ever and the service was even worse. I got the owner to taste my mince lamb dish it was so salty. He ate some and agreed it was bad. Ordering food went like this: Me: what’s the fish of the day on the menu? Waitress: there is none Me: oh ok, what are the three specials on the menu? Waitress: there are none Me: oh ok, what’s the chicken marinated in? Waitress: it’s a secret we can’t say Me: problem is I have allergies Waitress: I don’t know Me: oh can I have some halloumi. Waitress: there is none Me: ok, falafel? Waitress: no You get the idea, how on a Friday night you don’t have half the options on the menu is beyond me. Owner did give a free salad after we waited for an hour for our food and were told it would take another half hour, but that was because we said we would leave. Absolutely appalling, will never go again despite it being five minutes from my house.

We dropped in on Thursday night, the place was buzzing with only one table not reserved. Luckily we got it and we were not disappointed! We ordered a selection of starters and a main course. Everything was freshly cooked and flavoured to perfection. Its BYOB so it made it great value too. With friendly staff. What more can you ask for!

We came tonight for a pre-Christmas treat with the kids. The place itself is quaint and intimate- fairy lights and scatter cushions provide a cosy, festive atmosphere. The service was excellent- friendly but not overkill/false. We did wait longer than what you would expect at some generic burger/grill joint- this though we all considered to be a plus point, as you know your food is being cooked for you and not pre-made then “dinged” when ordered! And the food... just scrumptious!! The kids (aged 11 and 13- and typically will find fault with something when we eat out!!) were asking when we can come back, before we’d even left- high praise indeed! Top place - definitely be visiting again soon - thank you for a lovely evening :)

Small but with room to move, music at a level which made it easy to hear and enjoy or to have a conversation without having to shout. Menu limited but to be expected given the size of the place but does not detract from it being delicious and filling. Staff friendly, helpful and attentive and not over pushy. Highly recommended and would definitely return. Menu changes week to week - starts on a Tuesday. Caters for all tastes, especially vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.
