The Perfect Match in Trafford

The best food I’ve had all year, sublime cooking, balanced, full of flavour and matched with some superb wines which elevated the whole experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place, and despite not being cheap, it still manages to be excellent value for money. The restaurant itself was large enough to be comfortable, small enough to be intimate, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Couldn’t ask for more.

Visited for a family birthday and we can't recommend enough. Food was superb. All cooked beautifully. Plenty of vegetarian options available too. Service fantastic and it's clear the owners, chefs and staff are all passionate about the food and service they deliver. Wine pairing is fantastic with such depth of knowledge. If you havn't visited yet you must. Outstanding. Massive praise to the chefs!

Visited here for a quick Sunday lunch. The beef was incredible , the only let down was the roast potatoes. Service was superb and a nice atmosphere. Would try again hopefully the spuds aren't normally not great maybe it was due to it being late and the England game was on.

We booked our table in advance and secured it with a credit card. The welcome was warm and service friendly and attentive throughout. We were a group of 4 and availed of the 2 Sunday Roasts plus a bottle of wine for £45 deal. Three of our party chose 30 Day Dry Aged Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding and gravy and the fourth chose the vegetarian option of Hen of the Woods mushroom which also came with gravy and Yorkshire pud. Two sides of cauliflower cheese were also ordered. The meal was superb and we haven't stopped talking about it. You could so easily miss this gem as it's small and slightly off the beaten track but it's well worth seeking out. I note they have a monthly tasting menu advertised on their social media platforms which would be great for a special occasion. Highly recommended! Photos to follow. Hope this was helpful. 5 🌟

The perfect match was a new place, recommended by our friends and it was a very pleasant surprise! The food was top notch, the wine pairings complimented the dishes impeccably, the service was perfect and the overall experience certainly worth the price. We chose the a la carte menu but we will be going back for the taster menu very soon. 2 starters, 2 mains with 2 side dishes, along with 2 desserts with their desert wine pairings went for around £70 pp which for the experience and quality was beyond worth it.

My first time, although my daughter and son-in-law had already eaten here. Well, it was definitely perfect from start to finish. A warm welcome, a good table and service throughout the evening was so attentive and well paced. I opted for a "cloudy" Prosecco to start - out knowledgeable waitress explained its origins - it was truly delicious - wish I could get it elsewhere. Starters were all good - my seabream crudo in orange and rhubarb dressing was to die for, and my mains of poached river trout was delicate and light - presentation of dishes is the restaurant's forte; the wine list is incredible and well priced. All in all, a wonderful evening - I can't wait to go back.

Enjoyed a beautiful Sunday lunch here. Delightful hosts and service. We loved the deliciously moist rolled pork belly/porchetta with herbs and crispy crackling and the gorgeous 30 day aged beef rump served pink. Andrea introduced us to the cloudy Prosecco - unique, sparkling and natural. Finished our lunch with a selection of cheeses, chutney, candied walnuts and a glass of tawny port. This neighbourhood bistro from Andrea, Jazz and team is a complete joy from start to finish.

It’s a credit to Perfact Match that they were almost full on a dismally wet midweek evening. I suppose it’s because of the regularly changing menu, the good service and the usual skill in the kitchen. I’d have to say, though, that we may have hit the kitchen at a rare “off day”, with some dishes not quite hitting the mark. A starter of crab and crayfish tortelloni was one such dish. Tasted fine but the pasta was overly thick and it needed more of the lobster sauce. On the other hand, barbequed celeriac was excellent. It had been given a miso glaze so you had the earthy sweetness of one of my favourite vegetables contrasting with the savoury glaze. Walnut ketchup was excellent and the crisp kale just gave another texture. Definitely a “course of two halves”. For mains, there were slices of Spanish pork “pluma”. The menu said it should be served pink, which is how I’ve eaten it in Spain. This was more well done and was a bit chewy in consequence. It’s saved by a lovely romesco sauce and caramelised onions. No spuds with the dish, but I ordered a side of chips. Stone bass was perfectly cooked, as was braised Little Gem which was still nicely crisp with a topping of anchovy flavoured breadcrumbs. Good idea with the lettuce – we’re going to nick it to try at home. Cherry tomatoes had been cooked with ponzu so were very sharp. Too sharp, in fact, and just not very nice. We both went with the same dessert and both reckoned it was not worth the calories. An ice cream sandwich. There was lots of skill here in the various elements but it missed out on flavour just about everywhere. No crunch to the “wafer” which sandwiched the semi-freddo, which was under flavoured in itself. And the “flavours of pear” were disappointing – little balls of fruit were fine, but a gel had no flavour and shreds of pear in very hard caramel were just not very nice to eat.. We finished with one of the best cups of espresso we’ve drunk in quite a while.

Amazing ! Haven't been for a while as we have been out of the UK for 12 months, but our first choice of restaurant on our return. The food is absolutely amazing and this was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I am a real foodie and this didn't disappoint. If there was availability I would have gone night after night after night. There is also a great selection of wine, with the waiter very knowlegeable about the wine, which can also be paired with the food and you are advised why the wine was chosen to have with that dish. Excellent, friendly staff. I would 100% recommend this restaurant but would advise to book.

We had another incredible meal at Perfect Match last night. We have been coming here since it opened, and whilst it remains an infrequent treat it never disappoints. The food and drink pairings are an experience not to be missed and Andrea never fails to deliver an eloquent and passionate description of his wine choice. The menu choice is impressive for a small venue and there is always plenty of options available for my pescatarian partner. Desserts have never been my favourite part of the meal, but the peanut butter pie and the spiced chocolate pudding are out of this world! The dessert wine pairings are also not to be missed. Out of this world. Absolutely amazing. The Yorkshire pudding was the best I've ever had. The entire dinner was exceptional .The service was excellent. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely meal, great ingredients and flavours in original recipes by an independent chef and sommelier partner. Wine matching means they suggest wine by the glass at each stage, more interesting and enjoyable than choosing a bottle. It’s on Washway Rd in Sale, not a pretty situation but well worth it. Suspect it’s very popular locally. If booking on line, The Bar Area is smaller of two rooms but just as nice. Go and try it.

One of the best meals I have ever eaten. We had starters, mains, sides and a bottle of wine for £120. It was worth ever since penny. The owner was friendly, the atmosphere was intimate, the wine was gorgeous and the food was sensational. I’ve eaten in the USA, Scotland, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Thailand and the Philippines and that was one of the top 3 best dinners I have ever had. Cannot recommend enough.

I made the reservation weeks ago for the anniversary dinner, and it’s totally worth it✨ The food is amazing, no matter the small dish or the main. Just one fyi, the portions for the main is perfectly for me (bird size stomach), but maybe too small for a man. but i do recommend to try more on the appetiser, they are so nice 👍🏻👍🏻

Eaten here twice and on both occasions it was faultless. One visit was for an excellent Sunday lunch and another for a la carte. Food is understated but excellent, perfect seasoning and accompanying sauces, jus, etc. were just perfect. The wine is very good value and the family-produced Prosecco is at another level. The wine-pairing is a little difficult to fully engage with as that concept tends to work better with a tasting menu rather than a 2 or 3 course a la carte - personally one glass with a starter and one glass with a main is a bit frugal for a special dinner out. That said, the guidance on choosing the right full bottles of wine was spot on! Really hope this place doesn't suffer from not being in the re-vamped town centre. It's definitely worth the visit!!

After reading a couple of positive things about Perfect Match we decided to try it out for ourselves Situated on Cross St in the less trendy part of Sale in an anonymous shop frontage first impressions were low As soon as we walked through the door we got a genuinely warm, friendly greeting our coats were taken and we were ushered to our table An excellent meal was enjoyed with the torched cod in anchovy butter an absolute stand out This is a small restaurant but an absolute gem The food and service are spot on and the prices are very reasonable given the quality of what is being offered We travel far and wide looking for good restaurants (I live on Yorkshire my partner lives in Worsley) and it’s great to find such great quality right on one of our doorsteps

Just a stunning meal all round! Went for my birthday with a friend, not for the first time. I had veg antipasti and steak and he had rabbit and guinea fowl with matching wine, all of which tasted incredible. Portions sizes are healthy but dessert is a must. He had a cheese board and I had vegan ice cream - again, gorgeous. Wine was explained well enough that I (a teetotaller) found it as interesting as my friend did. Service was friendly and they couldn't do enough for us. They even gave us a wee surprise as it was my birthday. The sort of experience that ensures many return visits. Highly, highly recommend!

Do not be fooled by the unassuming location. It is the best restaurant in Manchester. Do not miss out on the wine pairing- you will taste wines you haven’t tried and be the better for it. The food is the best balance between finesse and heartiness.

Consistently beautiful delicious food.

Food absolutely sensational. We have been on a Saturday night for the wine pairing, which was the best experience. We’ve been for a roast dinner on a Sunday, my partner had the beef and it was cooked to perfection. The restaurant is very good at gluten and dairy alternatives. And the service is exceptional. I love the staff and the food never lets down it’s always 100/10.

We’ve been here several times before. Coming every few months means you always get to try a new seasonally changed menu. And it’s always a menu that leaves you spoilt for choice, leaning towards Italian dishes, although this is not an Italian restaurant. Speaking of...

We had an absolutely incredible experience celebrating our 2nd anniversary at the Perfect Match. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were embraced like family. Andrea, who not only co-owns the establishment but also serves as the sommelier, delivered a level of service that was truly impeccable. His extensive knowledge of wines expertly complemented our meal, and we savored a glass of Prosecco from his family's vineyard. Jazz, the head chef and co-owner, surpassed our high expectations with her culinary prowess, especially with the venison main course. It was nothing short of a masterpiece, with the venison cooked to a perfect medium-rare, exquisitely tender and flavorful. The accompanying rich, velvety sauce was a symphony of flavors that took us on a delightful journey with every bite. The mussels cooked with Nudja were equally delightful, and we were pleasantly surprised by the perfectly seasoned Ox Heart, served pink with a creamy mayo. Another standout was the Guineafowl and mushroom pie, featuring tender, flavorsome guineafowl enveloped in a rich, buttery pastry—a truly delectable creation. What elevated our evening even further was the thoughtful gesture of celebrating our anniversary with a complimentary dessert that spelled out "Happy Anniversary." This attention to detail was heartwarming and left an indelible mark on our special day. I cannot sing the praises of the Perfect Match enough; there's a well-deserved reason they come highly recommended by Michelin. Wow! I have just returned home from a wonderful evening. I was diagnosed Celiac in January and I also have a nut allergy. I don’t think I have eaten out anywhere since and felt so comfortable doing so. The food, atmosphere and ambience was exceptional!

Excellent menu and wine pairings. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The atmosphere is fine. But we had centre table which was close to other guests. This made hearing some of our own conversations a little difficult at times. Definitely will return , but ask for a different table next time.

Simply stunning. Exceptional food, a super, warm host and to top it off, turns out it’s brilliant for gluten free diners too. So wonderful to see a local neighbourhood restaurant like this thriving (we went in a Wednesday night and it was busy). Couldn’t recommend it more highly.

I don't have much to say about Perfect Match. It's hard to sum it up without going straight in and saying that it's absolutely amazing. This little 20 cover restaurant is an absolute jewel hidden in Sale - and not even in the nice bit....

Only tried this place because our daughter started working there. Well what a great place it is. Beautifully presented classy seasonal food by Jazz and if you like your wines, Andreá will present you with his most suitable wine. You don’t have to be a wine buff to enjoy this place it is just a nice little restaurant for good quality food and wine. Particularly their Prosecco! We went on a Sunday for the Sunday lunch which is perfect but book early it is very popular. Thank you Jazz and Andreá💕

Such good service. Time was taken to explain the wine menu and there's so much pride in what they have to offer. Food was outstanding and I could not fault anything. The perfect dining experience from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble and I can't recommend enough.

A really impressive dining experience. I'd heard good things about this place before but it seemed pretty unprepossessing from the outside with being on the main road and it had never really drawn me in until now. Once inside though, it was a lovely atmosphere with just the right level of busyness and the food was probably the best I've tasted in Sale. Good service from the staff / owner too. (Being a sceptical sort, I'd thought the specific pairing of wines with meals was going to be a bit of a gimmick or a ruse to sell more wine but I was wrong again as it really worked.) Will definitely go again.

Look, the standard of cookery here is outstanding and Sale is lucky to have this restaurant (most chefs in Manchester, in my experience, don't know what good food tastes like). However, some of the portion sizes are just too small. I had the monkfish which was £22.00 and was the size of a starter. There was no starch that came with it. Yes it was perfectly cooked but if you serve something delicious diners are going to want more of it....not just a taste. The soft shell crab was delicious as was the Beef Wellington. Will come back but my advice to the owners is if you are having to dish out bread to fill your guests up something is not right. A lot of fine dining restaurants do that but please just make the portions bigger!

Independent restaurant in Sale, run by a couple. One is chef, the other sommelier. Truly it’s The Perfect Match. Local produce on the menu, with a great couple who have trained under some of the best in the business at The Savoy, London now back home in the north cooking great food.

The best roast I've had in a long time in Manchester! The pork crackling was amazing and the rioja they'd chosen to go with the pork was so tasty!

A return visit to this local restaurant. The food is amazing and there is an excellent wine choice and the prosecco is the best I've drunk. I highly recommend a visit as we have never been disappointed when we have been. It's not surprising you need to book as the restaurant is very popular.
