We called ahead to book a table to guarantee seating, since it was a Sunday night and many places were closed. But there did not seem to be an issue seating people without bookings. This restaurant has a "tapas" menu, or small plate menu. It was suggested that we order two or three items per meal. I have an allergy to plant peppers & paprika, and I had difficulty finding two items that I thought I would enjoy. I chose the tomato/olive salad, but I had to specify NO green olives that are pimento stuffed, and the Blue Cheese Soufflé. Both were quite tasty. My husband ordered some type of seafood with capers. We both enjoyed our meals. He had a Spanish beer, which he said was terrific. I'm not a beer drinker, so I cannot offer an opinion on that. There were three young men running the restaurant, and they were all rather entertaining. I felt that I had to work extra hard to convince the young man of my allergy, and he even asked "how bad is it?" It was when I mentioned that I have an epipen that he seemed to finally grasp the situation. Most restaurants manage to take my allergy seriously without asking the severity. We were seated near the bar, which resulted in a cold draft every time someone came in and out of the door. Something worth considering if you are sensitive to temperatures. There was a large party coming in, so we chose to leave quickly as there really wasn't anything else tempting on the menu, and between the drafts and the noise, we felt it best to just get on our way. There was another room, a few steps up, near the front of the building, where many walk-ins were directed, but I have no idea what the ambiance was like since I never went to look.

Always brilliant, an absolute must when visiting PZ. We have been going to the Waterside for 20+ years and remember the Regent Meadery too. Just been three times in one week. So sad that it may close as early as March 2025. If you’re in PZ and thinking of dining there before then, make the most of it. We will miss it when it’s gone. Thanks for Cornish Mead, the Meaderies and all the good times.

We have a B&B in Penzance and have been frustrated by the lack of great places to eat between 2.30pm & 6pm. We need to eat at these times but more importantly our guests do! Delighted to rock up to the Vault Kitchen at 3pm with our dog Elvis today to be met by Lee & Mallery. So impressed with the service and food, happy to wait for obviously fresh cooked food. So impressed with Lee who not only offered great service but also handled a very uncomfortable situation without fuss, Providing ice cream for Elvis despite not having desserts on the menu. We will be back for all the events that Lee marketed. Final note.... Lee questioned our tip as thought we had made a mistake. Lee! You are worth every penny and more x
