It’s been many years since we visited this pub but we remember having a nice meal at the time so thought we would go in and have a meal again. It was very disappointing. Value for money was really poor - the small fish and chips had about 7 chips and the fish was so pale in colour and really small with a spoonful of mushy peas. It was basically a child’s portion - for £14 even though it’s small it shouldn’t be that small. We’ve been in pubs where the small portions of F&C are still a good size. My partner’s meal was also nothing special. We were asked by staff how our meals were and we did say we we’re disappointed but they might as well not have asked as they weren’t really that bothered and didn’t try to see if they could make it better. The atmosphere was just not there either - and the wall next to our table was marked and stained with food. Customer service was lacking. If a customer isn’t happy don’t just say ‘oh okay sorry about that’ ‘I will tell the kitchen staff’ See what you can do and care about the feedback. Our waitress really didn’t know what to say when we highlighted our disappointment- they just wanted to get away from us. We walked out saying ‘well we won’t go there again’ - it’s a pity as it’s a lovely setting and has so much potential. I’m tired of spending my hard earned money and receiving poor quality and then getting an indifferent response when you raise it.
