Fabulous evening spent in a gorgeously cosy atmosphere with lovely food and welcoming staff to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. It was a lovely treat and the vegan lasagne was full of flavour and piping hot. My daughter said her food, especially the churros were delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed it! 🥂

We ate here last night as a table of four. The fish pie was amazing, very tasty and came with a lovely soft bread. The fish cakes on the specials board were also very tasty and everything was served lovely and hot too. I can recommend the sticky toffee pudding and the raspberry creme brulee....delicious. Staff were very pleasant, efficient and nothing was too much bother, Overall a lovely spot to eat with a lovely outside seating area too. Can recommend and next time we are visiting, we will certainly book again, thanks

Slow service and food not good. I have never been served bread with a fish pie before and really couldn’t see the point, in fact many of the dishes appeared to have bread served with them and having had bread with my starter didn’t feel I could eat any more. The young ladies serving were very pleasant but I wasn’t confident had I made a complaint it would have been dealt with effectively and that is by no means being disrespectful to them. I have visited this pub on previous occasions and it has always been packed, not today however. Very disappointing.

I really like the Cross Foxes, it was good under brunning and price. But it's even better now, in addition to the classic British pub menu, there is an excellent lunch menu which includes a delicious southern fried chicken wrap! The outside seating offers a beautiful view of the river too 😁

This is the first time I have been back to the Cross Foxes since it changed hands. I paid £17 for a fish pie and it contained very little fish - it was mainly mashed potatoes and a huge ciabatta bread. I won’t be coming back sorry.

Bit of a 'panic' when we arrived for lunch today, as I phoned last Sunday to book in a table for 10, for a special birthday... but, it wasn't in the diary!! ...however, it was sorted out quickly and without fuss, and we were seated overlooking the river as requested. Staff are lovely, very attentive, and the food was very good too. Recommend.

Was okay. Went for a evening meal with friends and family. The restaurant smelled of stale smoke. The service was good and the staff were very attentive and polite. Food was a bit salty but wasn't bad. Not the best meal I've had but also not the worst. The atmosphere was far too loud and far too many dogs. They shouldn't be in a pub.

Not been to this pub since it changed hands and we weren't disappointed. Had a Sunday lunch of beef and belly pork and it was delicious and reasonably priced given the lovely setting.Loved the fact you could add a starter or dessert to a main for a reduced price of five pounds. Also a five pound coffee and cake option. For once I felt we were getting something that felt like a treat without ridiculous prices.Staff were pleasant and attentive in spite of a very busy service. Lovely summer's day... No really, it actually was! We sat outside with the dogs under the shade of an umbrella. Within a few minutes of sitting down we were asked if we wanted drinks and the menus followed swiftly after. A lovely menu with traditional and more 'modern' food available. It's always nice when you're umming and arring between a few choices. We settled for the beef daube and cajun chicken burger and we weren't disappointed! Excellent attentive but not intrusive service and kept the dogs topped up with water throughout.

Busy Friday evening so the kitchen was backed up a bit. Absolutely fine. Service was friendly and the location is beautiful. The food however was a real let down. The fish and chips were definitely frozen and cooked in the oven, not a fryer. Tasted the same as the breaded basa fillets you get from any supermarket. The chicken in the Caesar salad tasted and looked as though it came out of a can or prepackaged. Definitely wasn't a grilled piece of chicken. I'd recommend this restaurant for drinks, but not the food.

Fairly typical pub food. Steak pie was ok. Chips were not good, thin, and hard to pick up with the fork.. Fish pie was a bit odd. Served in a soup bowl with mashed potato in the middle. Once you cut into the potato, it turned into a soup. Crumble is not the best. Filling had the texture of jam. All in all a bit disappointing.

Myself and my wife have been regulars of the Cross Foxes for many years being locals and the food, atmosphere and service have always been first class. We have not visited for over a year due to my wife's illness so we thought that we would visit a few of our old favourites. What an absolute crying shame. The foxes looks like it is under new management and they have totally destroyed the country pub feel that the foxes had into now a burger and beer joint with loud TV and music and I noticed that none of the usual locals were in there. If you are visiting the area and you want a lovely country pub to dine and relax in, avoid the cross foxes as it's now more like your typical town pub that you might find in Wrexham centre. The Boat at Erbistock is quite close to the foxes and has it all, amazing location on the river, beautiful food relaxing atmosphere and best of all NO TV ! Quite sad at how new management can destroy a pub and I have laid a £50 bet with god that the foxes will have new management again when the existing management start losing money as they have got this so wrong. Tip - Once you have the locals to a pub avoiding a pub, that's the downturn. >>> as expected after meeting the new owners, I am called a liar in the same condescending manner as they reply on all of their social media. And please do not compare yourselves with the Boat as we mentioned how the cross foxes has gone downhill and they agreed with one staff member saying that the foxes has been turned into a drinkers pub and 'downmarket'. If you want to appeal to the type of customer who wants "pub grub for the masses", TV for the lads and your average estate family on a trip out, good luck with that, but I would rather experience the "class" of the Boat. Whoever is writing your answers on social media and google needs to learn how to engage with customers. When you are gone, the locals will be back ! Estimation from looking how you lowered the tone of the Foxes, about a year at best.

We have eaten here many times over the past 6 years or so. It’s a lovely building and setting with excellent staff. The food won’t set the foodie world alight but is reliable, above-average pub food. I usually order the crème brulée and it has shrunk a bit lately. The pecan brownie we had yesterday, though brown, was completely tasteless as if no butter, pecans or indeed chocolate had been used to make it. Nevertheless, we will be back.

I haven't been here since Marston's Brewery took it back from Brunning & Price so was really keen to see what changes, if any, had been made. A little disappointed in the menu. Not so ambitious but opted for the salt and pepper spare ribs for starter. Tasty but a little on the oily side. I went for the scampi main course. Served piping hot and a very good sized portion of scampi. I had a half of the Banks's dark beer, to try, 3.5ABV is plenty strong enough if I'm driving. Unfortunately the waiting staff didn't enquire if I wanted the other half or something else so I didn't bother. The biggest plus for this pub is the location so will look forward to returning in warmer weather to enjoy the views of the 'River Dee' from the terrace.

Really disappointed. Thai red curry didn't resemble a Thai curry at all. The sauce was very watery with a chilli taste and had no coconut milk or richness about it. It was like it had come out of a shop bought jar and watered down. The burger and chips were just that with no salad or anything else on the plate. The plate looked empty and bland. The olives and sun-dried tomato starter was missing the sun-dried tomato element. We were so disappointed as there was only one other couple in the dining area when in the past the pub dining has been busy and thriving. The music was loud and not quite the type of music to have playing in a restaurant. Unfortunately the cross foxes used to have a place in our hearts, however we will not be going back. We did leave a tip for the waitresses who were attentive as was the lady behind the bar.

We were recommended to this place as there didn't seem to be many restaurants around in the town centre. Very unprepossessing exterior and stairs leading to the first floor. It's claimed the place has had a makeover, but it was dark and redolent of the 1970s. Very few diners The two staff we encountered were pleasant but the place was dark and depressing. However, a pasta dish with mushroom was nice and a vegan selection was enjoyed. But we felt rather depressed with the surroundings.

Surrounded by history it’s located right on the WELSH border. Highly recommend Be careful on the pool table though Very competitive and there can only be one champ 🏆

We ordered 60 cup cakes for a work event to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness day. We were given options for the decorating and decided on 50/50 pink frosting and some with the breast cancer logo of the pink ribbon. The cakes were divine, so happy and they were delivered right on time. We also ordered a specialty Victoria Sponge which we raffled as a prize, I didn’t win it sadly so I can’t comment on the taste but it looked divine and was in a gorgeous presentation box with pink ribbon. Thanks Emzcakes for making our event extra special.
