Beautifully run family pub. Made to feel very welcome any day of the week. With a stunning beer garden and family staff it’s a must go to in North Wales. Surrounded by history it’s located right on the WELSH border. Highly recommend Be careful on the pool table though Very competitive and there can only be one champ 🏆

Great menu, excellent choice to suit everyone, service was great and the food was lovely. There is lots of outdoor seating at the front and back and the church is at the back and pleasant to look at. The children loved the garden. Plenty of high chairs were available too. There isn’t a car park so you have to park on the road. There is a step to get in which wasn’t great for me as there were no hand rails but everyone else was fine!

What a fantastic pub! Food was delicious! Greeted with a warm welcome as soon as we stepped inside, it was clean, a well set out floor plan. Outside was a lovely well maintained beer garden. We were served promptly with a smile, we didn’t wait long for our food to be served, the steak and ale pie was the best I’ve tasted in a while, perfect ratio of filling to pastry 🥮 My sons burger looked amazing, and as a fussy eater, he demolished the lot, so that’s a compliment in itself! We’ll definitely be revisiting with family again

Since taking over the new owner, Ed, has created a fantastic village pub that has quick become a favourite of ours. The inside is fresh and inviting and the beer garden, with its beautiful views of the historic church, is one of the best in the local villages. We sampled the new menu and were both really impressed with the dishes and service. We’d heard lots about “the pie” and it lived up to all the recommendations. Ed, Tom and Dean have created a little gem here with a relaxed, genuinely friendly environment. Lots of veggie options. Baby and dog friendly.

Staying at Farndon nearby and called into the newly reopened peal of bells. Looked like a locals pub that does food. It was pie night on Tuesday so I had chicken and leek pie with mash and green beans. It was really lovely. Hubby had steak and ale pie with real chips and green beans and he said it was nice. I enjoyed a New York burger tonight. The burger was large and meaty, the bacon (two slices) was thick, smokey and tasty, the bun was a large fresh Welsh/English bap, the slaw was obviously homemade and lovely, healthy and crunchy, the onion rings were lovely and crunchy, the chips were hand cooked, crisp and wonderful. The beer was Brew Dog on draft, with many other options for those who do not like. I have not enjoyed a pub meal so much in Holt or Farndon for some time. The landlady and her husband were most welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend The Peal for traditional pub food in either bar or bar/restaurant areas.

My partner and I decided to try this place out on New Year's Eve as it has recently been taken over. The location is great, the service at the bar was good and the layout is nice and airy. The prices of the drinks was OK albeit slightly steep. The cleanliness needs improvement - tables were sticky and the toilets were not cleaned to an acceptable level. The music was a bit too loud and not to our taste - one wouldn't expect a place like this to be playing trashy rap music. Unfortunately, this experience has put us off going again to try the food; quite dissappointing as I believe the same people run Cleopatra's Coffee Shop just round the corner which is much better. We expected a bit more class from here - it has the potential to be so much better.

Looking forward to sampling menu. Starters delicious Prawn in ginger and dipping bread. Others had mushroom and mackerel which they enjoyed. However main course disappointing. I had chicken in coconut milk sauce. Sauce had lovely flavour but chicken tasted as if it had been cooked separately no flavour and over cooked at edges query microwaved. Friends had goat cheese chicken which again was sauce with chicken with no flavours and another had chilli which was very bland. To disappointed to try a desert. We were a table for 4 and only another couple eating. Music from Andy Scott was good but too loud we couldn't talk to each other so left before 2nd half. Reserved a table between 12-12:30 as we came from far to have a meal for my boyfriend birthday. Arrived and were told food is only served at 1 but nothing was said on the phone when booking. We didn’t mind and with 45 mins to wait we wonder around town for a bit. Got there me and my partner sat down after asking if we could sit down anywhere. After 30 mins of waiting we went up and asked if we had to order there and were told yes as it was busy (which no one warned us about). When we went to order our lunch we were told that the food from the menu was going to take ages because of the queue already in the kitchen. When asked how long if it was going take as it was likely to be 2/3 hrs at that rate, to confirm the waitress went to ask the boss when she rudely answered back saying she didn’t have the time to think about that nit answering the waitress. First and last time, wouldn’t advise anyone to eat here.

We ordered 60 cup cakes for a work event to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness day. We were given options for the decorating and decided on 50/50 pink frosting and some with the breast cancer logo of the pink ribbon. The cakes were divine, so happy and they were delivered right on time. We also ordered a specialty Victoria Sponge which we raffled as a prize, I didn’t win it sadly so I can’t comment on the taste but it looked divine and was in a gorgeous presentation box with pink ribbon. Thanks Emzcakes for making our event extra special.
