I visited The Sportsman last Friday (mother's day weekend) I took my mam for lunch along with our little dog. I had small fish and chips with a lovely glass of red wine and my mam had the homemade corned beef pie with a lovely white wine. The fish was big for it being a small portion and delicious, chips were perfectly cooked I thoroughly enjoyed it. The homemade corned beef pie was unreal also and the service was great. The 2 lovely ladies who served us were very pleasant and polite they looked after us well. Our dog wasn't the only dog there and the atmosphere was lovely also. This was my first time visiting the pub, my mam has been a few times for food previously and this was her choice of outing. I would definitely go back and highly recommend for food and drinks. Nice to have homemade food served, none of the microwave grub you get from alot of bars these days. The Sportsman pub is very traditional, relaxing and very clean with high standards and a really good vibe. Popped in as looking for somewhere for a late tea and also dog friendly. Food was delicious and very good service. Chose from the 2 courses for £12, was plenty of choice, all four of us would definitely visit again.
