Sleepy Hollow Restaurant

Mallusk, Newtownabbey
17/12/2018: We had been bought a voucher for Sleepy Hollow and visited on Friday evening. I am sorry to say that it was the worst meal I have ever been served in any restaurant. We ordered the soup to start which was basically water with a few vegetables floating in it in the smallest saucepan shaped dish I have ever seen. For the mains we ordered turkey and ham which has to be the worst turkey and ham we have ever had. The ham was non existant, the turkey was stuffed with a porridge like substance and the potatoes for what we got of them were burnt. The cost was £65.00 for a meal that wasn't worth £10.00. We didn't complain as we had the voucher and so we only had to put £15.00 towards it but the server knew we weren't happy as the plates went back practically full. We just decided not to go back again and hopefully no one will get us a voucher for there again.
11/12/2018: Our work went to Sleepy Hollow for our Christmas party . We had a brilliant night with good food and homely atmosphere.

The Side Door Bistro Restaurant

Hightown, Newtownabbey
17/09/2018: Four of us went here around 2 weeks ago. Friendly staff, delicious food and BYO...what more could you ask for! The lasagne is totally gorgeous and all meals very reasonably priced, well presented and very tasty. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. I plan to return again this weekend!
24/08/2018: Had dinner in The Side Door tonight and the food is excellent - cooked to order. Good menu and plenty of options. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. A really nice place and great food.

Brown's Coffee Co.

Ballyclare South, Newtownabbey
29/11/2018: This is a nice quaint coffee shop in Ballyclare. Their homemade soup is usually great with plenty of crusty or wheaten bread with it. Will definitely be back.
08/11/2018: Absolutely love this place!! It’s the personal touch that makes it!! I go in and they know exactly how I take my coffee! Always friendly and amazing service!! They even know that my mum takes her coffee the exact same way as me!! Would highly recommend!! It’s a must visit when in Ballyclare!! Warm welcome!!

The Cosy Chair

Rostulla, Newtownabbey
11/12/2018: Called in today for an afternoon treat. This place has a warm cosy atmosphere. It wasn't too busy and we were able to choose where to sit. There is a lovely choice of home baked goods - cakes, traybakes, scones and shortbread. As a coeliac, I knew they usually have a good choice of gluten free items and I wasn't disappointed today. There were several different types of scones, shortbread, and choice of traybakes. I chose a peanut butter blondie traybake which was delicious. With a large pot of tea, it was a perfect remedy for a gloomy day.
26/11/2018: Introduced my future daughter inlaw to the cosy chair and she loved it and went back of her own accord with her mum.

Indian Ocean Restaurant

Hightown, Newtownabbey
29/10/2018: We had dinner here and as vegetarians were spoilt with a great selection of dishes to choose from. We were given complimentary poppadoms (with a selection of dips) on arrival and these were all lovely and fresh. Our meal was delicious with just the right amount of spice and the Naan bread in particular was fabulous. The service was very good. I have to say that I am very fussy about cleanliness and the whole restaurant (including the toilets) was spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.
23/10/2018: This is our families go to restaurant anytime we want to enjoy Indian cooking, food and service is always fantastic.

Knags Bar & Grill

Ballyhenry, Newtownabbey
01/12/2018: Stopped here for lunch after a friends recommendation. I had the salt an chili beef an have to say it was tasty! Everyone with me had a nice lunch an staff where friendly, still abit of work to so on food but for a quick stop worth a trip
16/11/2018: Went with 3 friends to Knags a couple of days ago and was very pleased with the whole experience. The food is absolutely fabulous... I had the Chicken Caesar salad for starters and the lamb as a main course... Perfect and soooo delicious... My friends ordered the Gambas Pil-pil for starters which I sampled... The best I have ever tasted and will definitely order when I go back. 2 had steaks which were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing...The other ordered the sizzling tiger prawns which looked the part and she said she really enjoyed them. AND on top of that the staff were sooo nice and accommodating, really friendly and made the experience said I will be back and would say this place is a must go to restaurant... Great menu, great food and Great value with lovely staff *****

The Khayber

Ballyhenry, Newtownabbey, >100£
16/12/2018: Lovely food, altho my friend and I were left sitting there without being offered a dessert menu for a long time and we had to ask in the end for one. Nice Meal tho. The Chicken madras is beautiful
29/11/2018: My husband and I have been eating the Khayber's food for a couple of years now. We live in Donegal and frequently get a takeaway when we are in Belfast. We drive all the way back from Glengormley to Malin Head with the curries packed safely in a heatbox. Unlike most people we buy in bulk and freeze a few. Any Friday or Saturday night, we have a Khayber from our stash.

Ballyclare Golf Club

Doagh, Newtownabbey
15/11/2018: Had a Friday lunch here. We are not golfers just thought it would be a change of scenery. Great food, good variety and good service. Wine selection was average. Would eat there again.
12/08/2018: Have eaten here many times, the food is always good, nicely presented and served by pleasant staff. Week days they have a buy one meal get one free. Great for families or birthday celebration. Restaurant has nice view over the golf course and of course drinks are less expensive than a typical bar.

Pots of Coffee

Ballyclare South, Newtownabbey
30/10/2018: This place is like a tardis inside, if there is a queue don't let it put you off, there will be a table available in one of the many rooms. The food is amazing, nothing is a problem and the staff are all lovely. They have a great menu with numerous gluten free options available. It is so nice we have been for brunch and then went back again later in the afternoon for coffee and cake. It is now our go to place for food whenever we are in Ballyclare. They also have a lovely gift shop at the front with some beautiful products for sale.
20/10/2018: Called in for breakfast after noticing the lovely refit the shop has had. Unfortunately quite a number of the tables were sat dirty even though they had no one sat at them. We stood waiting for quite a few minutes before being seated. Should point out that the cafe was not even that busy or I wouldn’t have minded. Food however was lovely and was very nicely presented. Hopefully next time will be better.

Rostulla, Newtownabbey, <20£
02/12/2018: Trendy (think Land Rover Defenders in this most suburban of burbs, sleeve tattoos, mandatory beards, liquids served in...jam jars) Sozo works a Norn Iron pastiche (eat your ‘Dirty Wee Butty’ - or whatever - outside if you like under the ‘Wee Blanket’ provided) that is just a bit wearing if you’re over 30.
27/10/2018: I’d be a regular enough customer and haven’t had an issue so far! The foods lovely and has good variety! Service is effective and the staff are nice! Very consistent and reliable.

Rostulla, Newtownabbey
03/12/2018: Called in for a quick coffee entire to a meeting. Served by Sarah who is always so friendly and polite. Nothing is too much to ask. An excellent addition to the beautiful Easy Antrim Coast!
29/09/2018: I love this little cafe, the staff are friendly and chatty especially when I call in on my own. Coffee also good and great gluten and dairy free choices.

Taaj Restaurant and Lounge

Rostulla, Newtownabbey
03/12/2018: First things first the food was lovely I could not make a complaint there! The service on the other hand was one of the worse table services I have received in a long time! Drinks taking far too long to come or forgotten about, meal orders mixed up, took meal order and then came back to re take the order as they had lost it, a general feel of organised chaos, I think it was more good luck than good management that the meals came out correctly, although one was forgotten and had to wait longer than the rest of the party. The restaurant was also cold, even though the food was good I certainly wouldn’t return if it was for a larger party!!
10/11/2018: Had a good catch up with an old friend. Decided to do so over a two course lunch at The Taaj. It’s been a long time since I’ve been here and since then it’s changed hands and chef. Food is still good and suits the local clientele. All in All great food, service and ambience

Corr's Corner Hotel Restaurant

Mallusk, Newtownabbey
12/12/2018: The bar and grill was pretty full at 5:30 on a Tuesday evening.
11/12/2018: Called in on spec for a bite of lunch. Car park was full, so we were expecting a wait, but no. We were seated right away and our drinks order given. The menu was presented shortly after and provided a varied range of dishes, including Christmas lunch.

Bambou Chinese Restaurant

Ballyrobert, Newtownabbey
20/10/2018: My son and I, on a week long golf trip ordered three dishes. Two from the early bird menu and one from the regular menu. The two eb's were very good. A soup, garlic prawns and two other prawn dished. The one we didn't care for was a sizzling noodle dish. Not remotely close to what we expected, more Ramin like.
26/07/2018: Went tonight & was well impressed. Food was amazing & service was brilliant. Would definitely recommend. We will be back again

Ballyclare South, Newtownabbey
15/12/2018: Beaut Indian food and great service! Biryani was awesome. :) Nice to have a catch up with a great friend over a curry and a pint or 2!
15/09/2018: We went here last night as it had previously been good. I got the mixed starter and the middle of the chicken was raw, I told the staff member who took it away and I told her to tell the chef. My partner went to pay I was told the starter had been taken off the bill but the bill was not itemised. At no stage did I receive an apology. There is another Indian restaurant opened in the area and if that’s how namaste serve food and provide service they will close!
