Opted for the cod supper this time and it was absolutely delicious. Well cooked and ample portions. Staff very pleasant as always too.

Back again and once again an outstanding meal and excellent value for money. Chicken goujons and chips and just the one order was more than enough for the two of us.

Excellent value for money - we both opted for cod&chips - and it was cooked pretty well. Don't think the portions were as generous as before but perhaps the lock-down has hit profits. However, very fair portions for the price.

Nice and clean, friendly service and excellent meal - what more could you ask for? Sausage & chips were excellent and very good value for money.

This is a carry out place. No sit in. I've been here quite a few times in the past & sampled quite a lot on the menu. Today I had the Hawaiian burger. Delicious. Stacked with lettuce tomato pineapple & fried onions plus the thousand island dressing. You really should try it. The chips were really nice too. Staff friendly & efficient. 5* ALL the way from me.

Fabulously cooked food and enormous portions. Clean and tidy with pleasant, polite staff. Highly recommend.

Excellent take-away - clean and friendly. Portions are more than generous and the cost very reasonable. Went for the cod supper and it was delicious - portion size was so good it could quite easily have saisified two people (partner had 2 sausages and shared my chips). Will be back and highly recommend.

This chip shop has the nicest fish around . Staff very pleasant and helpfull. Defo worth the extra mile to get to it best fish suppers ever .

Sausage and chips for two and cheesy chips for the other, and they were cooked to perfection. Good portions and good value for money.

Not quite so good tonight - don't know the reason because the chips were fine and there were plenty of them but the sausages were distinctly over cooked. Service with no smile either.

Just a good down-to-earth fish & chip shop serving excellent food at about average prices. One warning however, unless you are ravenous, consider sharing as the portions are very large indeed.

Best fish around quick service and lovely staff. Worth a stop for take away fish and chips or there chicken burgers 👌

Extremely good value for money as the portions are the best I have ever found but at no cost to quality - really lovely food. Excellent, friendly staff as well. You have to wait because everything is cooked fresh but it is well worth it.

Our usual port of call had suddenly changed its opening hours for Saturday (web site not updated) so off we went to find somewhere else (they may well have lost a loyal customer). This place is equally clean and bright with friendly service and the food was excellent. I settled for the 'small' cod and it would certainly have been enough for both of us had we known. Beautifully cooked as were the chips whose portions were equally generous. Price wise it also seemed a little cheaper which is a nice bonus. Will be back again and highly recommend.

I did love going here but as I am now on a diet I cannot. The service is really good and the food cooked in front of you. Well worth a visit for a family takeaway

Have been here on many occasions staff are friendly and helpful. Food is amazing and unlike another chip shop just up the street is not expensive. Worth a visit for sure.

Love this chip shop even from I went to school in rathcoole 13 years ago. Smoked cod is to die for. Chips are cooked to perfection. When u order a cheesy chip they actually give you plenty of cheese not like the rest of the chip shops in newtownabbey. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Never had a bad meal in all these years. Keep up the hard work guys.

Not to be confused with the Hungry Hound 2, located downtown Belfast. This fish and chip counter is busy, fast, very tasty, and inexpensive for the portion size. You can get a large piece of cod, and more chips than you could possibly consume, for just under 7 pounds. I have been to Northern Ireland several times, and didn't find the perfect fish and chips until my latest visit. This place has light, greasy battered cod, and absolutely perfectly fried chips. All the other places I've been to had bad service, or mediocre food (bad batter, undercooked chips, etc.). I realize my preference is biased as a Canadian, but this place was/is perfect. I highly recommend it for fish and chips. They also serve pasties, sausages, and chicken goujons but I didn't try any of those.
