Things on the menu they no longer serve and when i called to ask the person on the phone was very rude.

Very poor meal. Dried out chips many overcooked. Hard goujons. Plastic cheese. Garlic dip was nice. Expensive £20 for 2 meals.

We're to begin order a large pizza and gravy chip in just eat an hour before closing driver delivers to wrong house I have cctv I can prove what I am saying phone restaurant and they say ticket ran out of paper. First order will be last.

I regularly went to the chip yard u ril my recent visit. Fish supper and half onion rings £13. Absolutely disgusting. Chips were cold, fish was all batter and the onion rings were 1” thick in under cooked , thick batter, uneatable.tbh, they went in the bin as did half the fish and chips. I won’t be back. Very disappointed because it was always great food in the past.

Stopped on way home to stop the belly rumbles.... Got the best chips I've had in long time... Crisp outside fluffy inside.... Fried by a young fella in shop... Will def be stopping there again. Fish was massive too! Shop was freezin while waiting but the chips were worth it

I have been going to the chip yard for a few years and it can be hit or miss. I placed an order tonight for a regular chip, 8 chicken chunks and a dip. However, the chip was very small, one of the chicken chunks was microscopic and I didn't receive my dip. I didn't realise this until after I returned to the house. The inconsistency is frustrating. It also took over 30mins for my order to be ready also.

Delicious fried cod, good sized portion, fried to perfection. Chips were meaty and or no fat residue....excellent. Highly recommended!!

It's a bad job when a chip shop burns chips! Surely it's not that hard? I also use the word chips loosely since most were more like scrag ends, not even proper chips. Oh and goujons also burnt and inedible. I now remember why I don't usually buy from this chip shop. It's rubbish.

Told my phone order would be ready in 20mins. Arrived, paid and waited 10 mins to be given my order from the waiting area. Had been there from when I arrived . The fish batter isn’t great . Very thick, not crispy at all . It was given to the dog.

Food lovely and good portion size. Staff friendly and quick service. Their chips were blooming lovely. But the piece de resistance was they took phone orders directly, none of this Just Eat nonsense service. Love it.

Graeme delivered the food hot and on time with a smile. Really enjoyed the pizza and my friend loved her goujons.

Just had a 1/2 lb classic cheese burger topped with pepper sauce and as far as burgers go it hit the spot just right better than average,or to be completely fair if you haven't tried it give a go absolutely delicious. Build a burger,Once bitten, forever smitten.

Great wee chippy, the food is great and very friendly staff, can be quite busy at tea time with takeaway deliveries and telephone orders for collection so could be a bit of a wait, but well worthwhile , fish and pasties are tasty.

I tried the Christmas Chip. Fresh cooked chips topped with turkey, ham, stuffing, cocktail sausages and smothered with gravy. It was awesome!

Being going there for at least last 4-5 years but sorry it's gone down hill long wait prices to high and ordered a delivery to be told by the delivery guy cash only surely the girl should have told me on the phone. Wrong drink sent and chips were cold! Will not be back

Yesterday I bought a fish supper and a fish. We have eaten from here before and it was good. However, yesterday the fish supper was lovely, the fish a nice golden colour, but when we opened the box for the fish on its own it was a dark brown colour. Inside it was dry and not nice, the batter hard and uneatable. I would have taken it back, but we live in Carrickfergus, so it would have meant an eight mile round trip. I would have hoped that when the staff saw it they would have realised that it was overcooked, and not just sent it out anyway. Even more disappointing as it cost £7.25.

I'm shocked I've been getting the same order here for years, I order the seniors fish super, its perfect for me, less chips and smaller cod but tonight I got a mini cod, my problem is when I rang to complain they immediately went on the defensive telling me they weigh all their fish, so I'm a liar?

They had a good selection of options to choose from.They have a range of meals deals and offers for certain nights of the week.The chip yard chippy is located on shore road Newtown abbey.if you don't live near the chip yard you could drive down to lough shore and enjoy the scenery. Or you could drive up to hazel bank park and enjoy the scenery.we where very satisfied with are purchase.

A good establishment for a good decent sized meal of fish and chips good peice of cod with a nice portion of chips Well done and we shall be using This establishment for our future fish and chips suppers comes recommended. 😀

From Hero to Zero. Use to always go here for food, now I am stopping. With prices as high as they are so should the standards, but no, prices getting higher standards dropping, I am not sure what is going on here, but use to be great food, one of my last take away orders was awful and despite, feedback sent on the 14th July 2022, nearly a month ago, I have heard nothing. On the last 4 orders, one was fine, cant say anything bad about it, the other 3 orders totally trashed that. Batter terrible on anything it had batter on it, Sausages, onion rings, fish, you name it, if it was battered it was ruined. Simple process to thin batter down a bit but it is that thick it ruins the food and fried in oil that needs changed. I totally get it that takeaways are getting tough time on costs, but providing better food will attract more clients, this type of food will drive them away. I am really dissapointed as this was my Favorite chippy and I am so annoyed that the last 3 out of 4 orders where not good at all, if there was anything positive in those orders I would say, but no, just not good at all. Plus, the staff are polite.

This was our go to chippy and would drive just over 20mins to get there not anymore waited 30 minutes on my order this evening, which wasn't even right asked for the 3 small cod to be "well done" and the batter was still wet inside. The chips were luke warm a waste of £33.00 and to add even more insult was over charged £7.70 going by online prices. Not happy seen more concerned about doing deliveries than customers at front of shop. Staff are pleasant but that's the only good thing I have to say.

Disappointing.... No atmosphere from premises or staff, long wait on order even though I was the only customer in person at the time.... £2.40 for a tiny cartoon of curry sauce😱. Chips unrememberable, portion size average, meal deals overpriced for qunity in comparison to other places... Impulse visit, would not be rushing back.....

Wasted 22 minutes for soggy chips. I've never had a chippy this bad in my life. 😠 Very poor service indeed. It advertised 5.75 for chicken goujons, chips and a can and they charged me £6.50! Menus aren't even updated.

Best fish and chips in Newtownabbey!!! Went here after an appalling meal in a restaurant just before it. Left starving as the food was soo overcooked and fatty we couldn't eat it, however the fish and chips here were great and satisfied 3 happy customers, wish we had of went here first and not wasted £80 on a terrible meal out in Larne

Ordered off Uber eats from these people, 45 minutes later they still hadn't showed up with the food, I rang them and they said they spoke to the individual delivering my food and they're almost here. 20 minutes later they still weren't here, I called to cancel my order, they told me they don't know how to process refunds through Uber eats. They also hung up on me because apparently a customer shouldn't be irritated about any of this. I never cursed at them, I never raised my voice and I never disrespected anyone, they took issue with my irritation. Absolutely do not order from these people, they know how to take your money through these apps but don't know how to refund it.

Great fish and chips, homemade chips and batter on both fish was thin and crispy, perfect.

Always great service from the girls. Have never had a bad meal from here, delivery or collection.

Decent quality chippy but they keep forgetting to put salt and vinegar on my food which is frustrating. Will probably stick it out thought since the food is good.

Food is always very good and the staff are very friendly if only they could get your order right! Every time whether ordered by fone or in person its never right. This wk it was juice missing from kids meals. By the time you get home and put the order out you realise theres stuff missing. No one wants to have to go back out again so we r now having to check our order b4 going home! Senseless really just get it right 1st time its very annoying paying for something and not getting it!!

Just had two cod fish really big and the girl even gave us a few chips on the side for free big fosh and crispy bstter

Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. I asked for garlic cheese chips and got gravy cheese chips incorrectly. I had to go back and get a swap. Cheese wasn’t melted on chips and fish wasn’t seasoned well. Also, my girlfriend ordered chicken sweet chilli loaded fries and a battered sausage. The chicken was bone dry, tasteless with no seasoning, onions were basically raw, there was a hair on her dish and the battered sausage was too oily. To add, we had to wait 30mins for our food. Worst take away we’ve ever had do not go there.

last week and bought fish and chips under party and I've carton of peas the chips were rotten freezing the peas you couldn't eat them the pasta with rattan not cooked properly we said to the girl under counter and she said the next time you're in you can get a couple of free chips was up today day and then to the chippy and was told that girl wasn't on today and you would have to come back driving up from Carrickfergus for a free chip my goodness the pace has gone downhill terribly to be honest you wouldn't even give them your dog that food apparel pensioner really disgraced service would not buy anything again I would say it would be closing for good and the near future like tomorrow

Used this place once.. wasn’t sure on potions size so asked for 2 hungry guys if the family chip would be too much for 2.. they laughed and said depends how hungry you are! well when we got home there was hardly enough for 1 person let alone a family :/ we think it was done on purpose so wouldn’t go back. Food seemed okay

I'm wondering if the food is going to be nice. I've been wondering for a very long time as we ordered 2.5 hours ago and it still hasn't arrived.Following a phone call half an hour ago we were informed it was on its way but that was a fib as they literally are a few minutes drive away.Ergo, the food may be OK but...... Interrupted as the food has now arrived and is unsurprisingly tepid and will need blasting in the micro, so can only give one star.

Really nice, well cooked fish supper. It is really good as you can get a small fish supper which was perfect size for me. Good menu with lots of choices and also deals. Chips were also amazing and none of the food was greasy. Pleasant and friendly staff a huge bonus.

Used to go here all the time as a kid, was up this neck of the woods so ordered the Cowboy Supper Special for lunch. It was just as I remembered it, the chips are lovely, the meal also has beans, sausage, burger and onion rings, really filling meal. I'll be back when I am in the area again.

Meal from here was awful. Raw battered mushroom, cold undercooked greasy chips and a veggie burger that was like something from the freezer in the 80s . Disgusting never again!!!

Been using this chippy since I was a child and even though ownership has changed a few times it is still as good as ever. Now they do the best potato scallops I have had since leaving home

The food here is absolutely lovely we love getting out off here but of lately the food has been very greasy don’t know what’s happened but when we opened what we had got tonight again the food was so greasy I had to use kitchen roll to Absorb the grease. I hope they can sort out the problem because the food is amazing .

Been once and and it’s up there with the best fish supper I’ve had. Not bad value and great service. Workers were nice and friendly and had a smile on their face.

Lovely food, not greasy at all, enjoyed the chicken fillet burger & especially the chips kids also loved the hotdogs.

We decided to give the chipyard a second chance a bad experience the first time keeping in mind that the first visit was a few years ago. Well they didn't disappoint in there service we got in about 10 to 7 and were kept waiting as we were going to sit in. We were kept waiting until 7 and as we went to take a seat we were told they stopped serving at 7. Will never be back. I will also add that there are a few local people from the blind community that used the foot paths to the side of the chipyard. The customers park on the path I have had to get out of my car to assist one gentleman on more than one occasion. All round no parking don't ask customers to be considerate to the local community using the footpaths and poor service. Hygiene personally hair nets wouldn't go a miss either....

Rang a takeaway order through, collected it & got home to find a portion of goujons missing. Rang shop, they said they would put another portion on. Landed back at shop, the supposed owner (although not sure she was) handed them over and said she doesn't know what happened to the goujons but 100% they left the shop in my bag. But she wasn't accusing me?!?!?! Staff in this shop are usually lovely. And the food good. But never ever shall I give them another penny. Disgraceful! I was mortified. And all this in front of another customer. Who actually waited outside for me to say she definitely accused me and that she wouldn't be near the shop again.

Great lunchtime offers, pleasant and helpful staff with a lovely seating area. Situated on a very very busy road, best advice is park round the corner or slightly into whiteabbey and walk a little. The junction the chip shop is located at is extremely dangerous so be careful. Super food though. Highly recommended

We used The Chip Yard many times in the past, friendly service, well cooked food and not bad prices, but, never gain. Hadn't been for some time. Went there yesterday, food was not thoroughly cooked, doughy and grey, plates were cold so food got cold quickly, staff were charmless and the prices did seem quite high. Maybe its under new management but whatever the cause what was once a bright pleasant experience is now dreary with this take it or leave it attitude. Bye Bye

Nous sommes deux amis français qui entrions par hasard dans ce fish and chips. Très agréablement surpris par la propreté et le goût excellent de ce poisson !! Que dire de l’accueil.. Une merveille, un homme et une femme à l’écoute et d’une gentillesse rare. Ils ont tout bon !!

Best fish and chips in the area by far. You can’t beat fish and chips by the seaside ugh recommend you visit if in the area.

Pleasant walk along the shore and in to one of our favourite fish&chip shops. Sausage and chips and then popped across the road to sit at one of the picnic benches and enjoy our lunch and the sunshine.Both cooked very nicely indeed but, alas, lost one star today as there did seem to me (and it may have been my imagination) fewer chips in the bag. More scraps as well which meant fewer large chips.However, we shall be back again no doubt.
