Really good cafe in the area. I like to visit here on most opportunities. While it does get pricey, the quality of the food makes up for it.

Second time visiting Brown's Coffee. Great service, friendly staff, food was very well presented and was delicious! Well priced for the portion size. Will definitely be visiting again. Things I'd love to see in my next visit: More items on the menu.

Oh, Browns Coffee Shop in Ballyclare—where waiting is a sport and lukewarm coffee is the main event! If you're on the hunt for a coffee experience that leaves your cup a bit cooler than you’d like, or if you fancy a Chai that could very well be just glorified water, then look no further. This is the paradise you've been searching for. I’ve graced this fine establishment with my presence multiple times, and each visit leaves me pondering the real mystery: why on earth do I keep coming back? Sure, the food is decent, and I hear the building dates back to 1649; maybe the staff is still trying to fetch orders for those early settlers. On my most recent visit, the place was practically empty, yet I counted three staff members who seemed to have mastered the art of wandering aimlessly. It's not a large space, but somehow they managed to remain completely oblivious to the several customers patiently waiting to place their orders—or still waiting for their food after thirty long minutes. I was so moved by their indifference that another customer felt compelled to share his food with me, as he and his partner were also stuck in an endless waiting game. How generous of him! As for the ambiance, it’s charming—unless you're unfortunate enough to snag a seat near the central window hatch, where you must embark on a quest to order your takeaway coffee. Pro tip: if you want to enjoy your lunchtime coffee at a reasonable hour, you might want to place your order around 9 AM. It’s all about strategizing here! When you finally muster the courage to place your food order, don’t be surprised when a payment device gets thrust in your face before your drinks or meals even arrive. Lesson learned: I’ll be waiting for my food to show up before forking over my cash next time—apparently, that’s the only way to ensure you’re not left waiting for what feels like an eternity for your drinks and food to appear. During one visit, I ordered a tray bake and was still staring at the glass display ten minutes later, prompting me to nudge them twice before it finally emerged from hiding. It's no wonder that their competition across the street has twice the number of tables and is always bustling, requiring reservations at lunchtime. With a little more focus from the staff—and a touch less leisurely pacing—this could be a great spot. But let me give you a friendly heads-up: if you’re on a lunch break, be prepared to lose a good chunk of it marinating in anticipation for your food and drinks that definitely won’t arrive together!

Would of gave 3.5 if it was allowed food wasn't bad not a massive menu didn't see a kids menu maybe they did one and I didn't see it ordered a panini and it took that long I assumed it was forgotten and had finished the drink that I'd ordered first visit as well so wouldn't rush back

I had the best panini ever here! I'm always teased because I love Hawaiian pizza, and some people think pineapple on a pizza is strange, but at Brown's they do a ham and pineapple panini and it's fantastic! It's a nice friendly little coffee shop, nice hot chocolate and a selection of cakes. Well worth a visit.

So expensive!! £7.85 for poached eggs on avocado on sour dough bread. They made a mistake with my order, the waitress took it back out to the chef who got the order note out of the bin to check it. Made me the right dish. Wouldn’t of minded so much if I didn’t wait 25 mins for the first order or if they’d even apologised for the delay and their mistake.

This is a coffee shop that you don't need to go too if you are looking for a very good variety menu. They don't do sandwiches and when I asked for a wheaten scone with jam and cream they didn't have any cream. They said they'd run out of cream and this was at lunchtime!!!! I'm not sure if they have a children's menu but if they don't it's definitely not a place to bring kids. It would be great to see food on their menu like other coffee shops and restaurants. PLEASE DON'T USE AS MUCH BUTTER AND IT WOULD BE GREAT TOO IF YOU COULD GET A FRY. I understand your trying to do Healthy options BUT YOU NEED TO PUT YOUR CUSTOMERS FIRST AND THINK ABOUT THEM. Staff are ok but service was very slow.

Very nice cafe, light and open decor with relaxing background music. I had the avocado, poached eggs on sourdough and an americano. This came as 2 large slices of toasted sourdough, topped with lots of crushed avocado, 2 poached eggs sprinkled with some chilli flakes (no chilli heat) and cherry tomatoes on the side. It was very tasty breakfast. The americano was excellent, whatever coffee bean is the choice in here it provides a great tasting coffee. Cafe also has a side hatch for takeaway and can do telephone orders it appears.

Food is ordered from A hatch at the front of the shop on the main street. Tea collect at that time and food delivered to the table. Tables are all outside in the garden area most undercover. Thought this was a good idea. Only issue I had was going into the garden no hand sanitiser was available. It was only when I sat down that I found it when I sat down. It was located beside the side door the reason I could not find it was two couples were sitting at tables beside it I did not think I would have to stretch around others to get to the sanitiser. All cutlery and unitesils were disposable and separate bin for each selection was available. Food tasty and as ordered.

Browns have a great outdoor seating area on the lawn of the church yard next door. This was one of the first places I ate after lockdown at it was as good then as it was before. The food is delicious my personal favourite is there 4 cheese toasted sandwich and caramel squares. The food is served in a container which can be recycled with wooden cutlery. Love that the owners have considered the environmental impact when offering take away food. You order at a window at the front and then your food is brought to you in the lawn. Passing through Ballyclare today and stopped for a quick cuppa. My husband had cake and coffee. The cake was delicious and the coffee robust and flavourful. I opted for a scone which came with butter, jam and cream... scrumptious. I only drink decaf coffee. Browns have a special decaf blend which I think is filtered without chemicals being used in the process. Without a doubt a really fragarant balanced coffee, again excellent. The staff are friendly and very attentive and the icing on the cake, we could bring our dog along with us! Cool day but unlike many dog friendly cafes, good shelter, decent seats and blankets provided. Jasper also enjoyed the treats he was brought by the staff!
