Time Coffee House in Newtownabbey

Had a lovely experience. We had a big table, all ordering at once. The food came out quickly and all looked really good. I really enjoyed the chicken wings.

Far to overpriced. £4.95 for a brownie? You could buy all the ingredients for a whole tray for this nearly. 75p for alternative milk? Cost of wholesale Oat milk is £1.10. A splash of milk for an americano and it cost 75p Yous are an overpriced place, 100% won’t be back. Though the staff are lovely.

Really sorry But probably the worse breakfast I've ever had . I had to ask for a clean glass as the first one was dirty then came the breakfast which was cold the warmest part of my breakfast was my lemonade and items on plate I requested not to have . Really ruined this visit which was for my wife birthday and this was recommended to her I'm afraid this isn't a good recommendation and I definitely wouldn't return . 1 star for food as can't give a zero

Very disappointed we waited 40 minutes for our breakfast and when it arrived the poached eggs were totally overcooked on all three plates the Siracha sauce and chilli flakes were missing on one dish and the avocado was under ripe ... we should have sent it back but due to the long wait we hadn't time 😔

Was very disappointed! Had ordered soup, which was butternut squash and bacon. Texture was lovely, very creamy but extremely salty to the point that I couldn't eat it. My son had got a caramel frapuccino which you expect it to be sweet, but my goodness it was too sweet to drink. My son is 14 and has a very sweet tooth but left it pretty much untouched. After saying about the soup, I was too embarrassed to say about the drink . Have been a little bit let down with the food the past few times. Cannot fault the staff they are always so welcoming and one of them replaced the soup for another item I chose of the menu. It was a brie and bacon foccacia. This was lovely, but I felt a bit embarrassed to enjoy it.

Just been for food never again think I’ll stick to getting a cuppa cake food was a bowl of mush !!! Goujons were cut up you be lucky if you got 3 and chunky chips were so hard !!! Used my Xmas vouchers was disappointed

front door a nightmare. for anyone with disabilities or anyone with pram. sitting not great either for wheelchairs users or mums with babies. service was slow

1st visit just superb this is one of the happiest coffee houses i have been to. The staff are so lovely relaxed and all so happy working together. The xmas atmosphere today ( 23rd) was joyful staff full of xmas spirit. The tea and cakes gorgeous. I was with my sister and niece. My niece and i are here for xmas from London. Only a very small menu. All sandwiches premade that morning and all sourdough which neither of us liked. No hot food (pizza etc). No scones either. We left without ordering. Won't be back.

Sorry to say that won’t return. Food expensive and mediocre. £1 for a tablespoon of mayonnaise. The place is also freezing. We sat shivering the entire time.

I like waitress service. You need to order and pay at the counter. Food ok but expensive. Only one toilet. Not so busy the day we were there. Party of 5 had to wait too long for our orders.

Service Abysmal. Staff rude when asked if finished dinner plates could be cleared prior to coffee arriving. Food distinctly average. Chicken gougons rubbery and clearly microwaved to heat. Avoid.

Nice coffee. Awful scones, especially the 'luxury' ones. 2 coffees and two scones was over £14.

£3.50 for a scone that was very stale - the young guy doing the tables agreed with me. He went to management who told me they wouldn' t be doing anything - not even another coffee which I had suggested. Very poor

One of the best spots for brunch, coffee is great and the price is definitely value for money, a must if you're in the area.

Called in today with husband and dog, told no longer dog friendly inside (was after lockdown) so sat outside in the bitterly cold wind tunnel and this is only place for smokers too. Noone approached us so after 10mins husband went in to order, we only wanted coffee and snack, only lunch menu available at this time. Ordered 2 cappuccinos, 2 sausages and a jam donut, asked if he wanted cream or icecream with donut as its deemed a desert, said no- £4.95 eye watering price. Asked if it could be brought out as we both use walking sticks, no problem. 1223, nearly 45mins later noone had come near us, despite a member of staff clearing another table outside, I went in, told its nearly ready. Then someone appeared from kitchen area, oh youre the takeaway, no, im sitting outside, oh will I put these on plates then, I said no because we'd be leaving as totally frozen, ok thats your jam donut with ice cream, I said no icecream I'm cold enough, oh it was ordered like that, not on my receipt, oh it only shows on the order not customers receipt, I said I'm freezing do not want it, just bin it, she walked out behind me with it, I'll just leave it on the table, again, I said bin it, I then confirmed with my husband the interaction at till and he confirmed, no apology for wait, no apology for takeaway boxes, no apology for non delivery, no apology for wrong order. The coffees were luke warm as were the sausages, it was obviously left standing for at least 10mins. £13.35 practically down the toilet, dog loved his warm sausages at least. I will never be back. It was obvious that they were understaffed and people were doing jobs they didn't know, such as girl on till put our table number as 99 as we didn't have one and had difficulty locating jam donut as it is described as desert not pastry

I absolutely love Time Coffee House. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is so warm and relaxed. And the food... OH MY LIFE!! They have an amazing gluten free menu with plenty of options (which is difficult to find!!) 10/10 all round. 😍

Started with a sticky table which turned out to be the least negative experience. Ordered smashed avocado with poached egg on sourdough bread. AVOID. When it did come out eggs had as much raw white as it had yolk , avocado smelt sweaty and foul with brown unavocado looking pieces in this diced unavocado tasting avocado dish. You were left feeling that if it was eaten your next review would have been star ratings for toilet roll.

Good place for a quick bite to eat. We had two children with us and the staff were more than accommodating. Food was nice, portion sizes were fair for the price and atmosphere was good. Wasn't too busy either as we went slightly after lunch.

Absolutely dreadful service. As a large group we had to pre order which turned out to be a complete waste of time. So many of the orders were wrong and were repeatedly taken back to the kitchen to be changed. When we finally got our orders almost everything was stone cold. Time used to be packed on the tapas night but this evening it was half empty and I now understand why. Lots of lovely coffee shops in Ballyclare. If Time wants to survive they really need to up their game

Service slow....and not what it used to be. 1 meal was delivered to the table 10 minutes before the remaining 3 meals. We had to remind a member of staff that we were still waiting. The remaining 3 meals suddenly appeared..they had been left sitting on the counter top and therefore were not as hot as they could have been. To top it off one of the meals had a long blonde hair in it. Also on a warm/humid afternoon, the air conditioning could have been on. Unfortunately we won’t be having food in Time Coffee House in the future...

We saw a deal advertised that kids eat free with paying adults. Arrived at 12 noon for lunch and was told there would be 30min delay on orders as kitchen was very busy. We were given menus to pick food. We went to order 2 adult meals - told this would be okay as it was from the deli but couldn’t order kids meals of chicken and chips because the chef had closed the kitchen as he had too many orders and was afraid he would lose orders. No alternative offered for kids or apology. Most people around us had received food and we’re eating, we only counted one other table close to us who still had to order. Waste of time coming to Time for lunch when they close the kitchen. If we had of ordered, the adults would have eaten while kids had nothing! Very disappointing. Kids not eating for free - kids just eating nothing. We can’t comment on the food as we went elsewhere to eat - a cafe that was accepting lunch orders!

I last reviewed this place back in 2019, after it had undergone a change of ownership, and refurbishment, and it was pretty good overall. Since then, it has changed owners again at least once, and has completely gone to the dogs. The food is poor, the place is dirty, the service has gone downhill. And there’s a guy sitting playing a guitar and singing, when you're trying to eat your lunch and have a chat. I had what is the smallest lasagne I have ever seen in my life (picture attached) – a couple of mouthfuls, for £11 – oh, sorry, £10.95, which makes all the difference of course. It was also pretty dry and tough. My friend had the “gourmet sausage roll”. Surely the most ill-described food item ever? It was dreadful beyond your imagination – dry, tasteless, lukewarm, virtually inedible. If this was the gourmet version, I dread to think what the normal one would have been like. As noted in other reviews, the floor is dirty, the tables & chairs are sticky etc. You’d have to assume the kitchen is the same. You shouldn’t visit.

I have heard people talking about this place, so I was very excited to try it out. We ended up leaving disappointed. Half of the items in the menu weren't available - the ones we wanted. No pizza, no gourmet sausage roll, no our chosen milkshake flavours, no ice for the drinks. The place is dirty , I placed my bag on the small edge and had to remove it as it was soo dusty. Plus you have to order at the counter, while two of the girls standing and using their mobile phones, instead of looking after customers. If you need to get drink half way through your lunch, you have to stand in a queue at the counter and order it while your food is getting cold. They also had no steak knife for my steak sandwich. Drinks are served in cheap plastic cups, which was shocking. I would expect that from a festival not a coffee house . Not once anybody checked on us during our meal. Food was just ok , I won't be a returning customer.

I ordered an Italian panini - the bread was so hard I couldn’t eat it and the filling was cold! Very disappointing! Coffee not great either!

Ordered 2 coffee's, a flat white and a mocha - both were tasteless.

Arrived freezing cold came back just warm had to get a refund as it was horrible. Service rubbish. Creme Bruce not good so sweet no flavour. It also arrived with ice cream long time before the meal. So hence my review.

First time there, and I will definitely be back. Vegetable broth was lovely. It needs a little more stock for my taste, but other than that, it's really good .

We had breakfast and latte. Latte wasn't strong enough, very milky and our breakfast was very greasy. Place looks beautiful outside and inside, but very disappointed with food and no atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend. And definitely won't be back .

We had lunch here and were very disappointed. My husband ordered the soup with wheaten bread and I ordered the quiche with salad and 2 pots of tea. The tea arrived quickly but we waited over half an hour for our meals and our tea was cold by the time they arrived. The soup was presented with a slice of white bread and when my husband said he ordered wheaten bread the waitress said "there's none left". Surely they should have told him this and not assumed he would want white bread( which he never eats)! My quiche was rubbery and the portion was very small. Needless to say we were not impressed especially as we paid £23 for it. To sum up our experience, the food was poor, portions were small, the staff seemed very inexperienced and the food is extremely overpriced. We won't be back again and certainly won't be recommending this establishment.

Popped in to Time yesterday for a snack, great tea made the old way with tea leaves. Had a sausage roll to go with it all very good. Staff very friendly always seem to be cleaning. Not the cheapest but would go back.

Disappointing experience. The choice for vegetarians is poor. The sandwiches are pre-made in the morning which means if you would like an ingredient left out that isn't possible. My pastrami special focaccia bread was tough, my wife's sandwich was cold. The side of sweet potatoes were nice. Waitress was polite and friendly but I doubt I will return PS I would like to apologise to the manager who took time to reply only for me to accidently delete it by updating this review

Called in mid afternoon for coffee. Told we could sit anywhere. It took us almost 10 minutes before we noticed sign saying to order at counter (why were we not told?). Ordered eventually and had to prepay with order which was to be delivered to table. Almost 15 minutes with no delivery. Approached one of the 3 staff who were underemployed. No one knew about us, luckily we had asked for receipt. Apparently our server had gone off duty, till receipt system had malfunctioned. We were too annoyed to stay. Only plus was that we were refunded without delay. They need to pull up their socks, and wake up their staff.

Second time trying this place, 1st time was a Saturday so looked past the mess on the floors and greasy feeling of tables etc as it was very busy. Didn't have most of what was on the menu. No pancakes? Decided to call in for a late bite on a week night around 6.30pm, shown to a table and looked at menus, menus dirty, table dirty, just the entire place, dread to see the kitchen. The glass case that houses the sweet treats was disgusting. Opted for just coffee. Staff pleasant.

Called in yesterday for lunch &was blown away. The choice of opitions were so yummy that my niece & I decided to get a meal each and share... we were not disappointed. Had a gluten free opition which was clearly stated. Kids food came with a drink and a top hat, which was just lovely. Food was so healthy and yummy. Side salad and rice salad was AMAZING. Also had THEE nicest strawberry milkshake. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Will defy be back soon :)

Absolutely loved the meal we had. Steak cooked to perfection. Everyone was well pleased with their meal. In lovely suroundings and friendly staff.

Excellent place to eat, food is gorjus and a great variety for everyone. All these people moaning about this and that this isn't a high class hotel that's 5++++ stars give yourselves a break from moaning.. This is a beautiful clean place to eat and the chiefs work hard to feed your faces

I booked Time for lunch for a group of over 20 people and we were able to pre-order our meals. When we arrived we were seated in a large area solely for our group and our food arrived within 10 minutes. Everyone’s meal was hot and delicious and the staff were excellent. Would definite recommend.

Very very disappointed if could give no stars. I ordered lasagne firstly came out no garlic bread with it. Then noticed it looked like only the bottom half of lasagne had been put on plate. Asked girl to change it and brought out what looked like one layer of mince with one strip of lasagne pasta and some cheese on top. Not cheap to eat here and the meal was disgusting. Would not recommend time coffee house

Never again. Disorganised. Stood for ages to place order being ignored. Food took ages to arrive. Other customers also complained about the wait. Not very busy at the time so no excuse. Food far from hot on arrival, and cold before we finished eating, so left a lot of it. One food server had dreadlocks hanging all around her head, no attempt to tie back. Overall a dreadful experience. Won’t be returning under any circumstances.

I took my elderly friends here for lunch on Friday. Our disappointment was in the extreme. No one ask us to order at the till, no table service, after I ordered the vegan choice had no vegan cheese!! The staff were distant and unhelpful, the food was tasteless and overpriced. Overall an experience not worth repeating.

Good food but consistently slow, I mean painfully slow every time I visit, even just for a coffee! Update: still ultra slow!

A word of advice to owners - stop introducing a million menu concepts every two days when the chef (or lack of them) can’t even get the basics right. I went with a friend for a smoothie, she ordered a chicken sandwich to have with it, 20 minutes later no sandwich, I politely ask a waitress who rudley tells me how I don't appreciate how busy it is, slightly abashed we wait, and waited and waited! And hour later we ask for a refund and they try to tell us to wait longer for a sandwich, we took the refund and got a chippy at johnny whites which was fantastic, as for time, their standard has dropped significantly and I will not be going back anytime soon, nevermind I will not be going back!

Went to Time Coffee House for breakfast, and what a mistake. Ordered two large fry’s - no mushrooms and a pot of tea. 15 minutes later, breakfast arrives before the drinks. The waitress produces two fry’s WITH mushrooms. She said she would go in and take them off the plate. Sure I could do that myself. No vegetable roll either, which was advertised on the menu. Tea then arrived - no spoon, no sugar. I then got up and asked for a tea spoon and sugar only to be told “we don’t have any tea spoons, but we have lots of sugar” and she proceeded to give me a dessert spoon. The cutlery was a starter fork and and a large fork and two knives that were so blunt it was almost impossible to cut the sausages. A customer was in the kitchen with their children which is not hygienic. People who were seated at tables were leaving and a chef was coming in from the shop with Ormeau soda and potato bread. Won’t be back, and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Spacious property with plenty of tables available at lunch time. Read the menu and choose the "bake of the week". Was informed the bake of the week was not available this week! Ordered the quiche which was reportedly served with salad and coleslaw. Salad yes...

Visited with my wife for lunch and was very underwhelmed with food. Just average is what I would describe it as. I had lasagne which was missing the garlic bread on the menu. The bottom edges of the lasagne were burnt and couldn’t be cut. Won’t be going back unfortunately.

Went in for food waiting 35min to be told food not cooking they are closing at 4PM this was 3.40PM just had tea pot iwas not the only people who thought they were going to have food no sign to say not cooking very disappointing .they were to busy chatting to each other for got they had customer waiting to be severed

VERY DISAPPOINTING !! Visited 2 weeks ago and ordered 'Gourmet Sausage Roll' and fries and Scrambled Egg, toast and bacon, tea and coffee. 2 shop- bought sausage rolls and some crisps on side came out and scrambled eggs with no bacon - no explanation and paid £23. Will not be back...very poor ! 👎

I called in here to wait an hour whilst my daughter was at a class nearby with my 9 month old son. I had a flat white and a sausage roll - was very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were very pleasant. The waitress...

Beautiful large plan coffee shop in Ballyclare. It's beautifully decorated inside and the coffee is amazing. I had a plain scone with butter and jam, however it was a bit dry and stale, though the other food I seen served looked really good!

Went here during a motorbike ride, i got seated and was asked to move to a different place right away, my drink arrived first (water and a glass)the glass was dirty, it had bits of green leaves stuck to it and some other stains, when my food arrived, i was asked if i wanted anything else, i wanted salt, vinegar and garlic mayo. No vinegar was brung to me. When i got my food i was given some frozen skinny fries, they had black bits on some end bits were green. I got chicken goujons aswell, they were still pink when i cut into them, you could also see where the chef cut into the chicken to see if it was cooked…it wasnt cooked and was still sent out. No staff came to see if everything was ok, the meal was near £11 for frozen chips and some raw chicken goujons, the only thing right about my meal was the bottled water and garlic mayo. I cant say ill be back at Time and i will advise people to stay away. (15.00) 29/12/22

I decided to give Time a third chance and again, it was hard, overpriced and disappointing. I'm a vegetarian, but according to my companion who ordered the waffles and bacon, the bacon was like a bad piece of soft afterbirth and was not crispy. Definitely...

Staff are friendly. Went in and ordered a coffee ☕, asked to take a seat. I waited 30 minutes before the coffee arrived. This is the second time in a row, last time it was 25 minutes. On both occasions it wasn't extremely busy. This is the only coffee shop in Ballyclare I have had to wait so long.

Food is fantastic. Although, my guess is the rising energy and staff costs are the contributing factor in the reduction in portion sizes and the increase in prices.

The scrambled egg was like rubber sent it back the next lot was almost as bad by this time the toast was cold, not even an apology or no one came back to ask if everything was okay. Definitely wouldn't recommend here

Warm an cosy, lovely lunch wraps, soups etc good portions excellent coffee hot chocolate and Sunday dinners. Shuts at 4pm so don't be disappointed. Fab sticky toffee pudding with loads of extra sauce. My dad is 97.in a walking aid staff really kind and helpful with him so impressed by the young staff. Thanks so much made his day.

Food was OK to be fair, I had the fish, not the biggest, but was cooked perfectly, kids got toasties, have to order at counter, which wasn't explained to us, so we sat 20 mins, floor staff never explained to us, great decor

Service awful.scones like dry cake and add water mix easy to tell and not home made scones at all .staff touch their nose 5 times in 5 mins during the process of getting our order to us. Over rated establishment

Great wee spot. Good food and great friendly atmosphere

My burger was good, and served quickly. The only reason for the 3 star review is the speed of service. Food served quickly but drinks served 15 minutes later. Usually it’s the other way round.
