The best restaurants serving Italian food in Verulam St Albans East of England

I’ve been to Per Tuti in St Albans on a number of occasions, it has always been a favourite of mine. The food is good. However on this occasion (New Year’s Eve) we left very disappointed with the service. Upon arrival, we were left awkwardly waiting for someone to speak to us whilst a number of staff walked past and ignored us. We had to flag someone down to be greeted/seated. Then, we were seated at a table with food menu only (missing cutlery for one person and no drinks menu). If you you didn’t flag down the staff then you didn’t get to order etc. When I managed to flag someone down (to get a knife to eat food, ask for drinks menu) it felt like you were a complete hassle to the waiters. They didn’t let me finish my sentence when asking for something. Having worked as a waitress and bartender for years I know what it is like during busy times. However, politeness and professionalism should always remain even during these busy times. The food was lovely as always but I don’t think we will be back soon.

Lovely, traditional Italian restaurant with a family feel. Great food and welcoming atmosphere. Hidden away in a cute courtyard with lots of twinkling lights, it’s well worth seeking out this wonderful hidden gem.
