After reading the reviews, we booked for dinner here. I have to say, given all the reviews and all their accolades, we were expecting great things. Firstly, the staff seemed disinterested and bored. The restaurant was pretty cold, despite the fact we were sitting next to a radiator. I had the vegetable Balti, which was just OK. It tasted like they had used mixed frozen vegetables and the sauce was nothing special. My husband had Hydra Badi Chicken, and said it was one of the blandest curries he had ever tasted. It wasn't a bad meal, but did not meet the hype...or come anywhere close.

Beware if there is only 2 of you wanting to eat out here. Waiter refused to let us sit on a table for 4 because there was only 2 of us. There were 3 empty tables for 4 plus 1 table for 2, but that was pushed up to the service counter and that was the table the waiter offered us. We didn't want to sit immediatly next to where customers would be hovering over us whilst paying for and collecting take-aways and where the phone was ringing and conversations between the waiter and customers were regularly taking place. When he said we couldn't sit elsewhere, I said 'we'll leave it then'. Then the waiter responded, in a sarcastic voice, with a 'BYEEE'. So that's a loss of income for them of between £1500-£1700 over the next year as we would have called in for a sit down meal for two every fortnight, plus a takeaway for two once a fortnight. We then had a meal at one of their competitors and then walked around Settle before heading off home. Whilst walking around Settle we looked into the Spice restaurant again to see if all the tables that we had been refused the use of, had now been taken. There were still 3 tables for 4 that were empty, plus the same table for 2, that is pushed up to the counter, was also empty. PS We had been to the Spice a fortnight earlier and the same waiter had tried to have us sit at the same table by the counter. On that occasion we asked if we could sit on another table and when he said no, we asked 'why not?' He then said 'ok' and we sat elsewhere. We didn't want to go through the same 'negotiation' for a second time. It's dimple, if they don't value us as customers then we'll spend our money elsewhere.
