The Monkey House

Buckland, New Forest, >100£
18/06/2018: A group of 7 of us booked a Table for Fathers’ Day at The Monkey House. We booked here based on the great vegan reviews, as 3 of us are vegan. Annoyingly, there was only 1 dish available on the Main Menu online, a sweet potato curry, which although is a typically lazy vegan dish which EVERY pub does (including Hungry Horse and Wetherspoons), it would satisfy us purely so the meat eaters could enjoy dishes from the frustratingly massive selection available to them. Still, many reviews said they have great vegan options on the Specials Board. So we hoped!
18/06/2018: Dropped in on the off chance of a Father’s Day lunch. We are lucky with a cancellation as they were fully booked and I can really see why it’s o popular.

The Plough Inn

Buckland, New Forest
01/05/2014: called in without a reservation and were fitted in to a reserved table straight away. Staff were friendly and helpful with meal selections from the specials board or comprehensive menu.Popular pub with car park pretty full at 5.30 with a mix of holiday makers and locals. Meals were excellent with generous portions
28/04/2014: I have driven past this pub many times but on this occasion decided to call in for lunch. Deceptively roomy pub with a lot of outside seating. Very clean and tidy with fresh tulips on the dining tables. The staff were very welcoming and the choice of food quite extensive, with a reasonable specials board. We chose the beef and ale pie (unfortunately there was only one portion left at 12.30 on a Monday) and settled for ham and eggs for the other meal, both these and two soft drinks totalled £24.10. Reasonable value for a good portion of tasty fare. Plenty of car parking and a small 'rustic' spot for caravan parking. Well worth a visit.
