The Sir Roger Tichborne

Plaistow, Chichester, <20£
15/08/2018: Food good, staff and service great and always a welcoming smile. Nice outside eating area too. Have eaten here in several occasions and it’s always been good.
11/08/2018: Five of us, mostly family, went here for lunch in the middle of the heatwave 2 weeks ago and were given a table on the outside terrace overlooking the wonderful rolling Sussex countryside. This was our first visit and we were a mixed age group of 2 x 80+ year olds, 2 x 50+ year olds and one just 25. We came from three different directions - Guildford, Storrington and Haslemere - and were delighted, after a lot of on line research, to have found somewhere almost completely equidistant for our occasional get-togethers. We were even more delighted with the meal and the friendly welcome and service we were given, we couldn't fault any of it. We shared two excellent platters, one fish and one vegetarian, and followed those with a range of different main courses: mussels, fish of the day and a couple of burgers, all beautifully presented and delicious. Everyone was very pleased with their choices. It was so lovely just sitting there under their large parasols on comfortable chairs and just be spoilt for a few hours by the kind and friendly staff! We try to arrange these meetings every few months and for the first time won't have to spend hours trying to decide where to go - we shall come back here, maybe on a cold day in the autumn, and sit in the spacious dining room next to a welcoming fire - difficult to imagine at the moment but it will happen! By the way, there is an enormous car park in front of the restaurant so no problems there. We are looking forward already to seeing you all again.

Onslow Arms

Plaistow, Chichester
15/08/2018: Recently changed manu so not quite so much choice as before. What we had was good but pizza not as nice as before! Pleasant enough staff but children’s play are looking very shabby now whereas it was always well maintained as was the side by canal. Used to eat here regularly but will not rush back.
14/08/2018: Passing by decided to have lunch there. Glad we did the staff were very accommodating and very helpful.

Half Moon Pub

Plaistow, Chichester
17/08/2018: Quirky pub as we stopped for a quick drink and sandwich. The ham sandwich was ok but the salad accompaniment was far from fresh! Now I know that negative reviews often get a reaction suggesting complaining at the time so my wife did precisely that - she stated that she wasn’t impressed by salad that gone slimey. The response was “the one that got away”! Not the best response to a complaint!
25/05/2018: We, my wife and I, stopped here by chance for lunch. The bar (walls and ceilings) are covered in many implements. We ordered food and drink. during our entire stay in the pub not a single other customer came in. In due course the food arrived: a ploughman's and a cheese and ham toastie. The toastie had a thick piece of ham, clearly hand carved, with tasty cheese. The ploughman's came with good bread and a large piece of cheese. Where it not for the place remaining empty we would rave about the place. However, I can thoroughly recommend the place

07/06/2018: Popped in today for a large cappuncino and a home cooked ham and chutney panini. Delicious tasting panini that was served with lettuce and tomato plus crisps, Definitely will return when in the area again. Definitely would recommend.
22/01/2018: dropped into here for some bacon and milk and stopped for a coffee. very nice and cosy with locals coming in for breakfast and to read the paper!
