The White Horse

Bury, Chichester
26/08/2018: Had to post to say THANK YOU. Chris, Will and all the staff that we encountered on our stay (that due to family illness was 'cut short' by one night) were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The room was exquisite as was the fabulous bath. The food was divine and the wine chilled to perfection. We were 'robbed' of our full stay by circumstance but be sure when life calms down a tad we will be returning to 'conclude' our White Horse adventure <3
17/08/2018: This is a delightful country inn with a terrific menu, especially if you like seafood. Good value for money and a lovely ambiance. Staff are friendly and attentive without being in any way intrusive and the food is simply delicious. Highly recommended

Cricketers

Bury, Chichester, <20£
29/08/2018: We were staying at a campsite within walking distance of the pub, the staff were welcoming and the choice of food and drink was excellent. We sat in the garden which was very peaceful, our meals were well cooked and tasty. We would definitely recommend the Cricketers
27/08/2018: Visited for a lunch time after a walk in Petworth park. Good food and friendly staff. Will definitely visit again.

The White Horse Inn

Bury, Chichester, <20£
09/10/2017: Having booked all five rooms at this establishment well over a year ago for my son's wedding at Duncton Mill (a great location if anyone is interested) on October 7th, and having visited again in June this year to confirm the names and number of nights for each room imagine our surprise and horror when we turned up on Thursday 5th October, the first night of our stay, to find that it has been closed for refurbishment and will not open again until some time next year! Nick, the landlord/owner or whatever he called himself did not have the common curtesy to advise us that this was happening and left us with a massive amount of stress trying to find accommodation just two days before our son's wedding and when there were several events going on in and around the area which meant that accommodation was at a premium. I do not believe that when we visited this person in June he did not know that the place was being shut for refurbishment. As with one of the previous reviews I would confirm that Nick is not the most friendly of people and after this horrific experience I would say that he is probably one of the most inconsiderate and irresponsible people I have ever had the misfortune to come across. I would urge anyone that reads this to think very carefully before patronising any establishment that this man has any responsibility for. If he is still in charge of the White Lion after it's opening I would strongly recommend you do not go there. He ruined our weekend with his ignorance when we should have only had our son's wedding to consider. I cannot express strongly enough how angry we are with this man and his lack of respect for us. I would also point out that the phone number is still active, although it is not answered, and when you go on to Google reviews it still says it's open so please don't be mislead - it is definitely shut! If Nick reads this I would be interested in his response.
