This is the best fish and chip ever in the Hollinton area. Dont have to wait long even when cooked to order, very friendly and the sausage in batter is excellent. Well done

We decided to go because of the article we saw in Cotswold Living and so four of us went last night. (See attached article.) Started off the evening with drinks outside on the terrace (stunning) then we all had the six course taster menu which was fabulous....delicious. Daniella, our waitress, was very pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We'll be going again.

A few days ago we made a reservation because we were hosting some long-term military friends while they were in the area. We thought the menu was very good, covering most dietary needs and offering many choices. As many restaurants and pubs in the area are closed on Mondays, we were delighted to find they were free and had such a varied menu. On arriving, we noticed the main restaurant was empty apart from a book club meeting, so we thought the service should be exemplary. We commented jokingly to a staff member if he could light the candle on the table to enhance its ambiance, which he did. He commented that they did not normally light the candle due to a lack of customers, lol. We duly ordered starters, then three steaks (with chips), and a roast dinner (pork). We asked for various condiments, mustard, ketchup, and apple sauce. Eventually, they came (very slowly) and I mean very slowly, and the apple sauce comprised a teaspoon of sauce only and a small pot of ketchup, just enough for one person with chips, but there were three of us with chips!! Our guest asked for more gravy as very little was served with the meal. Eventually, all arrived. We found on receiving the bill that they had charged £1 for the extra gravy(we have never been charged for extra gravy on a Sunday)! Had we asked for extra pork, that would have been acceptable but we had not. We also learned that at no time even on a weekend, crackling is not served, which we thought very strange as every establishment we know of provides this, so it questions is a roast joint rather than pork pieces, probably left over from the weekend! The duty manager’s reaction although polite was a tad aggressive as he did not appreciate any adverse comments. I suggest that as they have the upper hand on a Monday evening it should be a gold mine as little competition locally because most are closed on a Monday! The fact the restaurant was empty now speaks volumes. We have been to the Manor on numerous occasions over the past 25 years but this was the worst experience that we have had. Needless to say, we have NEVER had problems with the staff or the establishment (the Manor that is) on a traditional Sunday lunch we will NOT return on a weekday for some time to come. We regards to food and ambience (even during the week) they should take a line from the other establishments not far from the Manor, such as Gloucester Old Spot, The New Dawn, and The Queens Head and not forgetting the Swan at Coombe Hill all of which, we visit often with no issues!
