I absolutely love this place it is by far the best best best fish and chip shop In herne bay! Reasonable prices the man there is always so lovely and friendly the portion sizes are amazing, this is my local chip shop now, he’s always so kind to my daughter who usually collects as I wait in the car but I’ve certainly not found better than this place you will not be disappointed

We compared prices and availability times for various deliveries online and John Lee, although they don’t deliver that I’m aware of, came out best in terms of price and quick service with collection in 20 minutes on a Friday evening. The food was clearly freshly cooked, had lovely flavour individual to each dish and the man who took our food order was polite, double checked each item and was helpful. A highlight was the chicken satay skewers. 100% will only order Chinese from John Lee in future.

We visited Reculver today Friday 14/02/25 for an afternoon walk in the sunshine and get some fresh air. We decided going into the King Ethelbert to warm up and grab a pint. The Pub had a good homely feel about and the landlady and bar staff were very welcoming. The menu looked great and another diners meal looked good do we decided to stay for afternoon lunch. There is a good varied menu and an extensive choice on the "specials" board. I decided on the prawn cocktail starter and my wife had the the breaded brie wedges served with fresh salad accompanied with a cranberry and onion relish. My delicious cocktail was loaded with prawns and the Brie starter was really good. We both decided on Lamb rump served with a mint gravy, buttery mash potato and vegetables for our main. It was delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly, being moist, tender and tasty. The food was great,! UNFORTUNATELY, 2 individuals insisted on vaping whilst sitting at the bar and anyone sitting in the restaurant area nearby could smell the this foul, sickly smell that we found off putting. I did ask the waitress serving my food to outline the pubs smoking /vaping policy. I was told that smoking is banned, smoking area outside, but the landlady endorses vaping inside the premises. Not wanting to spend any more time breathing in someone else's spent chemicals we decided to miss desert, pay the bill and leave. We won't be the only customers put off by this. Pubs loss..... Would have stayed stayed longer for desert and more drinks.! There are facilities for smoking/Vaping outside. They need to make sure the locals use them.

We went yesterday for Mothers day. We had a party of 8 people. Overall we was not impressed. The size of our meal for £16 was small! I had 2 slices of beef brisket 3 roast potatoes 1 Yorkshire and a few parsnips then the vegetables came in 2 small dishes to share between 8 of us!!! Just one dish of cauliflower cheese again shared between 8!!! I will not be going back. Then not to mention you had two very loud rowdy tables singing loudly too.
