What a lovely traditional pub with a great friendly welcome. The Buttcomes beer well worth trying, I had the 5G pint, very good. We all had food which was very nice traditional food. Totally recommend looking the pub out.

Can't praise highly enough, very welcoming, amazing value. Was busy when we went but friendly staff quickly found us a table and service was very prompt. Will be back!

My husband came in today for a cake to take out , the selection they had was vast , he returned home with two slices coffee and walnut which I can say it was lovely, and at a good price, will definitely be coming back, thank you 😊 23/2/2024 …………. I am not sure I can put on your Facebook reviews, my son came in to your shop this morning to collect some flowers a wreath , 2 grave pots , watering can as well , they are beautiful and at a good price , I would like to thank your grandmother, I will be keeping an eye out for other things she does in the future. thank you 😊 ………. 1-11-2024 ……… my husband came in this morning for a poppy wreath for my dads bench , your grandmother has done a fantastic job yet again , she is so talented, it will be going on my dads bench over the weekend for Remembrance Day , thank you so much ❤️

Superb pub with excellent evening entertainment

Absolutely fantastic service. Very polite and friendly. Food is always piping hot, fresh and very tasty.

Don’t normally eat Indian food but last resort turned into a pleasant experience food was lovely staff was friendly nice delivery guy very efficient delivered half an hour before the expected time

Food an hour wait, was ok was hungry Was advertised as a Halloween night but the pub was very empty normally really busy on Halloween do? Hoping the Halloween night will be back to normal next year!

This place used to be excellent. Not any more and shopped there for the last time. The past twice I have been the chips have been awful and last time the batter on the sausages was obviously overcooked or reheated. The atmosphere is the shop is awful with whom I presume to be manager cooking at the back screaming at his employee. All the decent staff seem to have vanished and just appears to be two of them working now. Its an embarrassment and staff member constantly being belittled in front of customers who don't know where to look. Constant begging on Facebook as to how they can improve and they want to know what customers want...well a better non toxic atmosphere, fresh food cooked to order and bigger portions back as they were...a management course on how to treat your employees wouldn't go a miss either!

Standard fare. Generous portions. Reasonable waiting time for food which was freshly cooked. Service friendly and efficient

I really don’t like leaving bad reviews so I’ll start with the positives. This pub is within walking distance for us so we like to support it and have had drinks here often, the outdoor seating area is lovely. We decided to eat here last night (Monday), there were 3 of us. Menu was reasonable, typical pub food at a reasonable price. The waitress brought our sharing platter starter then disappeared, I had to go to the kitchen to get our own plates! The waitress then brought our main courses before actually clearing the empty starter plates, and god forbid if you ask for butter, our Lurpak portions were just slammed on to the table. The meal itself was absolutely fine, it was the service that was extremely disappointing. We weren’t even asked if we wanted desserts or coffee. As an observation, the lady who we assume to be the landlady (she’s been sitting on her backside in the bar area each time we’ve been in) appears to have very limited managerial and customer service skills; we have no issue with children in licensed premises, but there were children playing football in the bar area last night, and if these are the owners children, it’s not a very professional image. All in all, this wonderful big pub needs to pull its socks up, us customers want to support it but we want to be treated like customers and not as an inconvenience.
