We was looking for a nice place to eat on a Monday afternoon, on my search I found this little cosy pub restaurant. We didn't book but we was able to have a table. The waitress allowed us to sit where we liked, which was a nice touch. The menu was perfect. Choose a starter to share. Our main courses was truly amazing, definitely worth the wait. Service was pleasant and relaxing. Highly recommend this amazing venue if in the area. Thank you Clare & Joanne for a lovely Monday Afternoon Lunch. 10/10

I rarely write reviews, but after my recent experience at the Butchers Arms, I felt it was necessary to share what happened. Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown from start to finish, with poor service and some really unprofessional behaviour from both the staff and management. When we first arrived, we were told it would be at least 30 minutes before we'd be served because they were "too busy." When we asked if we could at least sit at our table and grab drinks from the bar in the meantime, we were told, "If you really want to, but it's too hectic at the moment." After sitting for 45 minutes with no service at all, we finally had to ask for menus, which took another 20 minutes to be brought to us. We understood that there would could have been a wait for food, but the issues kept piling up. Staff constantly stated how stressed, busy they were. Our starters arrived at different times, so two of us ate starters with our hands after asking for cutlery twice and they weren't given because they were in the wash. No napkins either, and when we asked for them twice, we were told they hadn't been folded yet. One of us had to go behind the bar to grab them ourselves. To top it off, we ordered drinks during our meal that were never written down, and they were completely forgotten. When we asked again after our food finished, we were told they didn't have any available glasses so we had to wait. So we ended up eating our meal without drinks, which was incredibly frustrating. When we finally spoke to the manager about the issues throughout the night not mentioning any waiters names, their response only made things worse. Instead of dealing with the complaint privately and professionally, the manager discussed it to the member of staff who was serving us when we were still in the restaurant, making the situation feel awkward. The staff member was really upset crying infront of us in the restaurant, and her mother was comforting her in front of everyone, which made us feel even more uncomfortable. No customer should have to go through something like this just for providing constructive feedback. The manager shared the details of our complaint and our names with other customers in the restaurant, including the mother of the staff member serving us. The next day, the staff member's mother has contacted me directly, asking me to call her about the complaint, stating how 'disrespectful' we have been to her daughter (when nothing but politeness was given to our server her daughter through-out the night) and to 'take it up with her and to blame the chef' about the constructive feedback given to the manager in confidentiality about the service we had (nothing to complain about the chef and did not wait too long for our food). This was completely inappropriate and has made me feel very uncomfortable and upset, especially since the issue was supposedly resolved the night before with the manager. We were just trying to express that the service was poor and that the whole experience was handled badly. It's disappointing that a simple complaint about bad service turned into such an uncomfortable situation and been escalated too far with Facebook status from the mother about my group of friends last night. The manager handled the complaint in a way that breached confidentiality and caused unnecessary distress.
