The best restaurants serving British food in Selkirkshire Scottish Borders Lowlands

Searched online and shown to be dog friendly but visited and told dogs aren’t allowed inside, you can sit outside with your dog, so more dog tolerant.

We were a group of 18 friends who had arranged a private lunch at the Gordon Arms. Bryn's food preparation and Oxana's service excellently complimented each other as we all enjoyed a couple of hours of great socialising. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a private function of simply for regular dining.

Booked a table for Easter Sunday thinking it would be busy but it was surprisingly quiet. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating (jokingly wanted to steal our Easter eggs). The food was sensational and they didn't skimp on the portions. The mussel dish that arrived as one of the starters took two people to eat.

Stopped on our way to Edinburgh and what a great find. Just a few tables and lovely home cooked Sunday lunch. It was lamb with roast potatoes and nicely cooked veg. We had rhubarb crumble and custard to follow which was also top notch. Service was spot on and extremely friendly and I think it was his wife in the kitchen. This sort of place is dying out and it's such a shame - good honest home-cooked food at a reasonable price. Give Hawick a miss (not difficult) and give this place a try.

Great place. Good COVID cleaning protocols. Very nice little outdoor area out back. Delicious sweet treats. Great latte. The service was the best part. They actually cared how you liked the food. Very friendly service. Very attentive

Went for a lunch and very nice indeed. Decided on scampi and food came quickly and very generous portions and reasonably priced. Only downside was room was a bit smokey from the kitchen but will definitely be back.
