Visited here for lunch with the kids whilst on holiday in the area. Friendly & welcoming staff and the food and drinks we had were really tasty. The coronation chicken baked potato was delicious and we all had cakes too which were lovely. It gets really busy and can see why. Definitely recommend!

A weekend away in the Scottish Borders led to us unexpectedly finding this wonderful restaurant in the Yarrow Valley today. It was one of the best Sunday roasts we’ve had in years (delicious local beef and pork) and a seriously tempting menu focussed around local ingredients by Bryn Jones. The honey cake for dessert by @she.likesbaking was also incredible and I’ve only just realised that Oxana Jones is not only a wonderful front-of-house host, but also an extremely talented baker. Thank you to your team, it was a memorable lunch and we’ll definitely be back for one of your tasting menus and an overnight stay.

Booked a table for Easter Sunday thinking it would be busy but it was surprisingly quiet. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating (jokingly wanted to steal our Easter eggs). The food was sensational and they didn't skimp on the portions. The mussel dish that arrived as one of the starters took two people to eat.

My husband, son and I spent New Year in the Scottish Borders and booked a meal on 31 December at the Smiddy Bar. We had never been there before and didn't know what it would be like. However, our expectations were exceeded - the dinner was excellent, for both the carnivore and the vegetarians. There wasn't much choice but my husband's sirloin steak was apparently very good while the butternut squash option was delicious. These were accompanied by four very tasty home-made sauces, including one made from hawthorns hand-picked in the local countryside, we were told. The dessert course was help-yourself to delectable home-made puds, presented in small glasses - but you could have two or three! The meal was rounded off with cheese and biscuits and coffee. All the above were included in the very reasonable price of £25 per head. The service was good and very friendly, the dining area small but pleasant and cosy, and altogether we had a very enjoyable evening.

Went for a lunch and very nice indeed. Decided on scampi and food came quickly and very generous portions and reasonably priced. Only downside was room was a bit smokey from the kitchen but will definitely be back.
