Still my favourite pub in medway, nice walled garden with lovely pergola. Inside is charming and quirky, best to book if you wish to eat. Food is reasonable and good. Had 3 roasts and a roast baguette, great attentive service and staff couldn't do enough for you.

This pub has a nice, traditional vibe. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back there for a meal.

After a lovely walk along the river shoreline we stopped for lunch with friends at the pub. My wife and I both had the steak and kidney pudding which was delicious and our friends the roasts which they thoroughly enjoyed. We would like to thank all the staff and especially the chef/cook for a superb Sunday lunch which in our opinion put many others to shame. Ten out of ten and we are definitely going back. The only slight improvement would be that the restaurant area needs a makeover, it’s not very inviting when you first enter. However the overall experience was great, thank you once again.

Booked for Sunday 23rd Feb at 1pm. I was advised that they no longer serve a roast on a Sunday as they have experienced too much waste of food. We arrived just before 1pm to find it empty apart from two men playing darts and a couple sitting at the back of the restaurant area eating. We placed our drinks order at the bar and was given menus immediately. By 1.05pm we had ordered our food... 3 x starters -- prawn bruschetta with chilli sauce (as the soup of the day was not available) and our mains - 1 x lasagne, 1 x beef bourguignon & 2 x lamb shank in a potatoe pie. After enquiring what was happening and a quick visit from the chef to reconfirm the order, we received our starters 40 minutes after they were ordered. The mains were served 1 hour and 20 mins after the order was placed. Whilst the food itself was satisfactory, the edge had been taken off due to the long wait. It was not helped that during our wait we heard other guests who had arrived be told that certain things on the menu were not available! On being asked by the waitress as we were leaving if everything had been okay we said that it was a shame that the food had taken so long. Her reply was that everything is prepared 'fresh' on order and that they consider it better to be fresh than hurried and served quickly. It was claimed that we had been advised that the food is cooked from fresh to order, but we were not able to recall this and it was not mentioned on the menu. The waitresses and bar staff were polite and we acknowledge that the wait was not a fault on their part by any means. We just feel that it would have been nice to be told about the length of time it takes at the time of booking as other restaurants with equally nice food do not take a long to serve even when they are far more busy.
