The best restaurants serving British food in Levens South Lakeland North West

Fabulous meal the Venison pie was delicious and we all had something different. Staff were lovely this was our 2nd visit whilst staying in the Lakes and we will be back.

Always like to go to the Wheatsheaf but sadly no more. Much has changed and not for the better. Menu choice is dreadful,go to the Hare and Hounds down the road in Levens. The shock at having no cooked breakfast was a spoil of the weekend as that is part of the break . Continental is for France not the Lake District. Staff were great,beer good and room was fine but will go to the Crown at Coniston for the full monty package. Hope it gets it's clients back as it's in a lovely spot.

After a lovely bracing walk it was good to go into a pretty busy pub with a roaring log fire and some interesting specials on the menu. The service was very friendly and we had a nice tasty lunch.

We had intended to be somewhere else which was closed , & headed down a lane to this venue following signs, & wondering if we might truffle out a lunch . We were not disappointed. This is a little find , both the farm shop downstairs & the café up the stairs. I had a soup ( parsnip & apple) and ham batch combo , husband opted for soup & cheese scone. Great comfort food , & nice cuppa too! We didn’t get to watch the cows being milked (3.30 pm) but watched them on a screen in the café making use of what seemed to be an automated back scratcher….
