My family and I arrived at the door about 10.45 pm ish Saturday evening only to be stopped by Marcus the security on the door saying we could not go in as we had been fighting there the night before. We looked at him stupid and said we had been there the night before until 1pm and seen no fighting there at all. Also we were dressed smartly just came from family baby shower. The other security went to get the manager? Who assessed the situation and said to leave us in. But there was no way would we go in then. I was mortified as I am 63 yrs old my husband 67 yrs old my daughter and son in law. When I said to Marcus later do I look the type of person to be fighting he said he got hit in the eye and couldn’t see properly. Well Marcus no excuse don’t accuse people if you couldn’t see properly, what a stupid excuse to make. The other security guy with the mask said it was mistaken identity. Too late I was humiliated in front of those waiting to come in , who talked about it with us outside. The homeless man sitting outside laughing and said you don’t look like the type of people to be stopped going in to a weatherspoons. So I feel Marcus who is black was being racist towards us because we are white and we were being victimised. If it had been the other way around I would have been accused of racism. Absolutely appalling. Never in my whole life have I experienced this. I did not sleep all night and went the next morning to make a complaint to the manager Lindy who was absolutely lovely and said sorry for this and would have it investigated. Surely the CCTV would have shown it wasn’t us .
