The best restaurants serving British food in Hertford Bengeo East Hertfordshire East of England

My first visit today Mother’s Day, I was with my daughter and granddaughter. It is such a quaint place very well set out with a lovely garden although we ate inside. The service was very good and we we served very quickly although it was starting to get busy, the food was excellent in my opinion ( could have done with some parsnips though 😃) and with drinks a very reasonable price and am looking forward to Father’s Day next, definitely a place to return to.

I have never been so disappointed in an evening out. Staff lacklustre, didn't seem to want to be there. Took ages to take order then over an hour for food to come. Vegetables were raw. Awful, awful, awful.

Rude staff. My food never turned up. I had to go ask them where it was, clearly forgotten. Then when it eventually turned up it was smothered in sauce so I sent it back asking for a refund. The waitress took the plate, didn’t say a word and walked off. Staff need training!!!!

Great view for a Sunday early evening and no busy at all. Mushroom soup is so creamy and tasty and the bread is great.

Friendly service, peaceful atmosphere, and great coffee. I came in on a very rainy day for a coffee, ended up staying way longer than intended partly because of the sandwich, mostly because it was so calm.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips! The batter was perfectly crispy, and the fish was fresh and flaky. The chips were golden and just the right amount of crunchy. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. Definitely one of the best spots in town
