The lady who delivered the food wasn't very nice, she dragged my dachshund in which in my opinion was rude when I was already getting him in he's a friendly boy. The food. My eldest daughters panini: bacon was raw cheese was lumpy very disgusting. Eldest daughters pudding: we ordered leon sponge we cream we received lemon sponge with custard the sponge was rock hard like it was frozen in the middle and the custard was like water. My youngest daughters panini the pineapple with disgusting it was like someone had rubbed the pineapple into the ham the actual bread of the panini was dry. Her pudding was okay. Mine: same as my eldest daughter raw bacon lumpy cheese is was vile. My chocolate sponge was dry and tasted stale.

A long wait but nice food ** There did not appear to be many visitors to Talgarth that day, but even these limited numbers seemed to overwhelm the catering establishments. The first place warned us of a lengthy wait before we would be served, so we went to the Strand. A bit quirky with traditional style tables and lace cloths. Shelves of books a bit like the cafes in nearby (and more interesting) Hay on Wye. Quite hard to attract any attention to place an order and over an hour before we got any food. Off-hand (actually downright rude) and very unapologetic for these delays. I myself am apologetic for being such an inconvenience and will ensure I don't bother them again. Having written this while impatiently waiting, I have now been fed and this was tasty and decent size portions, not massively overpriced.

Julie is a warm and welcoming host and nothing was too much trouble. Good draft beer and excellent breakfasts. We stayed 2 nights to walk the Dragon’s Back and explore the stunning area. Do drop in after you have parked in the pub owned car park at the foot of the walk.
