We ordered a takeaway afternoon tea for three for Mother’s Day and were not disappointed with the amazing selection we received for a very reasonable price. Everything was very fresh and tasty, from the finger sandwiches to the homemade quiche and sausage rolls, the macarons, tiny cakes and scones with jam. Displayed on my folding afternoon tea platter it certainly looked the part for a wonderful Mother’s Day afternoon celebration whilst staying at the nearby Castleview Holiday Lodges at Lauder.

Took my wee dog in about 11.15 am , exceptionally welcoming staff found us a great table - and even lent me their glasses to read the menu as I had forgotten mine 👍🏼 Squeezed me onto the breakfast menu which was about to stop , gave my dog biscuits and were all round great hosts. Breakfast mix was superb , a lovely spread of neatly sized , hot and fresh mushrooms, eggs , beans , avocado mash, tattie scone and whole meal toast.

This hotel has lots of cosy, quirky corners as well as an impressive larger dining room. We were here for Sunday lunch (note - this menu differs from other days) and were presented with a reasonable choice of well priced mains. Everyone's food was lovely (the roast beef was cooked superbly) - generous portions and beautifully presented. However there was no mention of small portion options which many places now offer - one of the group struggled to even eat even half of the meal (and sadly couldn't even consider dessert) so while the food was lovely, it would have been nice to have had more appropriate options for folk with smaller appetites without wasting food.

Solo trip for lunch and thought I'd try somewhere new. Bar staff a tad off hand but I was hungry so thought go with the flow! Ordered steak pie, veg and chips. Wish I had taken a photo now as there were TWO measly pieces of stew mixed in the gravy with veg to make it look better I guess. Saddest steak pie I have ever had, broccoli and carrots on side were cold and waited over 20 mins for it ( two small tables and I so not busy at all) Worked over 20yrs in hospitality, wouldn't visit here again unfortunately, especially at 15.95 for a sad meal
