Situated on Central Promenade, Newcastle, Co.Down the covered outdoor seating gives a truly Mediterrean atmosphere as you admire the views of the harbour and Slieve Donard, the highest peak in Northern Ireland, as it sweeps down to the sea. Choose one of the fabulous Base Coffee drinks or select from the range of herbal teas. For morning snacks try the sausage rolls, croisants or scone with fresh jam. Then later in the day you must try the home baked apple pie of one of the delicious (but huge) tray bakes. Base Coffee is not just a coffee shop, it's a hub for many regulars and undoubtedly you will very quickly feel welcome.

My goodness, this pizza is class. Hot honey pizza. Convenient car parking across the road. Good service, I really recommend here, best pizza in Newcastle, hands down.

The restaurant name is now PACHA. The staff are nice and friendly 5*, there is a single shared toilet which is clean though needs check from time to time as water pooling on the floor maybe from costumers drying hand 4*. The place is clean, nice view from window and close to Donard free carpark. I like the way you choose where you want to sit 5*. We dont wait too long for our food and all taste really good and steak cooked to doneness we ordered them. Chips and pepper sauce also taste good. 5*. Price of the food is not too expensive but not average either if you think of the taste, good service and and the location. We can recommend this and we will come back again.

Went in August and got the Caesar salad and was amazed by the large pieces of fresh chicken in it and the presentation. Went back for the first time yesterday and was very disappointed to receive greasy battered chicken pieces in my salad instead of fresh chicken. the reason I chose the salad was cause I wanted something lighter and it was the first time Ive ever had fried chicken in a salad. Wouldn't order it again.

First class operation run by a first class husband and wife team. Not sure where the owners did their training but the menu is fully worthy of a visit. I personally find the service to be of a proper American style "the customer is always right" standard with a very pleasant and relaxed dining environment. The daily soup and sandwich lunch deals cannot be beaten anywhere and the baked potatoes are a culinary delight, highly recommended.

Just had a fabulous taster menu for New Year’s Eve. Honestly the quality was something I’d expect in a fine dining restaurant. We have eaten here many times over the past year or so and never had anything other than excellent food and excellent service - and all at a very reasonable price

Oh my word. What a meal. Went in December 2023 to celebrate wedding anniversary. The dinner was *stunning*. We ordered the 'lamb rack for two' which was cut and served at the table. Beautifully cooked. It was like melt in your mouth lamb flavoured marshmallow. Crikey. Never had the likes of it before.

From the missing signage and unkept frontage this place cries out NO ONE CARES for me. It doesn’t get much better inside. From handprints all over the glazed areas of the both front doors ( it would be ok if it was form maybe one kid or something ) to greasy scummy surfaces half wiped tables to sad deteriorating fabric and edges of the chiller cabinets just plain not clean these owners must be blind or missing in action or just can’t be bothered their team are just lost being in minimum wages and very underperforming and undervalued and underpaid. You get out what you put in I guess. Looks like a CCTV heaven kind of place with some many cctv cameras littered around with the operators sleeping at the wheel. Like a Car crash waiting to happen. God love the staff in this godforsaken excuse for a cafe. It’s seen much better days and better times. Guess it’s at the bottom of the street for a reason. Needless to say breakfast was thrown together with the greasiest bacon known to man and the hardest egg I’d need a rock hammer to break the yolk. And so it continued. A visit to the toilet was an experience like no other. Flip me you’d need to wrap up before going here again. No climate control except to say it was colder in here than outside and it was cold and miserable out there not a radiator or fan heater in sight. Again tired old furniture and scummy feel. Toilets are all up a step which isn’t a problem but a tad unusual if they were clean, dirty toilet seats and toilet brushes. No soap to wash hands was to be found and a lively freezing cold taps to wash your hands in. Is there not some environment law being broken here? Is hot water/ warm water not needed to try to irradiate bacteria from travelling by handwashing ? The dryers were not much better and needed a good proper clean or replacing maybe. This place needs a really good gutting revamp and flushing of postive enthusiastic staff maybe selling by the delusional company/ individual(s) that own it . I really wanted to take the staff all out for a few pints to cheer them up and ask them what was worrying them or what made them look so unhappy. Everything comes from above so if the leadership is toxic so this will filter down in an organisation and it for sure has here. Someone close or sell this poor dump of a cafe and put the poor customers out to more well deserved cafes who actually care for this customers value their business and repeat custom.
