A beautiful country pub very atmospheric and full of character. The decor and real fire enhanced all of this. A Very Professional & polished team from start to finish, small touches like a candle & a carafe of water on the table. Complimentary Artisan breads with amazing Homemade Garlic butter. There was no rush but I liked that, slightly different from ‘just waiting’ The food & service was exemplary, food was served with black gloves, nice touch. The quality was evident and using local produce where possible. Value wise, fantastic. You get what you pay for. If like us you want a proper Sunday lunch, where the food and service is second to none then this is your place. I can be super critical but to my partners amazement (knowing me, not the pub) I couldn’t find one thing negative or just ok. I have already recommended The Tickled Trout to other family and we will return.

Based on the reviews on here, my wife and I made a trip to this pub for beer and food only to find the car park blocked by concrete blocks. The pub appears closed and there’s a sign asking for new tenants so we’re assuming it’s temporarily closed.

First time eating here as we had heard they had new owners/chef recently. The food was very very good and much better than your average village pub. Really good pub classics but with everything done really well. The fish and chips I had was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their food. Service was good and overall pricing was very fair. We had the Vinho Verde wine with our meal and it was excellent.

we rang about 17.30 to book a table for eight and they said that they stopped serving at 18.00 but were willing to stay open for us on are arrival we were shown to are table after a few minutes are drinks were ordered when they arrived are food was ordered this is when it gets good after a short wait the food came and what a surprise the most amazing roast dinner every one said that its probably the best dinner ever so please except are many thanks all the staff should be told that they are brilliant and we would Highley recommend this place if we are back to vist york we will return many thanks john and his family from derbyshire

Just avoid 😉 Cold food, warm beer and dubious stains on the table covers - Andrew claimed to have an accident with the mayonnaise.
