Great place for a pint and food very friendly staff always a warm welcome

As usual good food, home made mushroom soup and a well filled tuna sandwich for £6 and husband had bacon, sausage and mushroom sandwich which was very filling. Service good and great selection of cakes to take home. Dog friendly which suits us.

All four meals were disappointing. Fish and chips both overcooked, stroganoff had lumpy rice and barely a mushroom in sight. Steak was good but mushrooms and tomatoes both overcooked. Worst of all, I had a chipped plate for my starters , and my wife had a plate for her mains with a huge chip in it. Also no one bothered to ask if everything was ok during our meal, or even when we’d eaten. I would have mentioned these problems when I paid, but there was a duo playing and the music was to loud for conservation. It was especially disappointing as it was a birthday meal for my wife .

I first visited this restaurant in September and had a lovely meal no complaints, I’ve since visited twice more, in early October, I visited again., I ordered a meal again and asked for a rump steak medium, when it arrived, it was rare, I left the table and quietly went up to tell the waitress that it wasn’t as I had ordered, she apologised and 10 minutes later my steak arrived back, it was inedible !! I called in tonight for a drink, & the chef’s wife asked if she could have a quiet word with me round the corner, - She told me in no uncertain terms that I was not welcome, & I would never be served again. I asked why, she told me that I’d complained before about the meal, and that I had gone into the bar afterwards and told everyone about the awful meal I had had. This was a downright lie as I am not that kind of person. It’s a sad time if a restaurant cannot take any criticism without banning someone for complaining.
