The best restaurants in Dorchester East West Dorset South West

Wow fantastic, arrived on time , kept very hot.

I live locally, and can walk to the Bean from home, all uphill, but for a lovely reward at the top. Sat on the edge of the Village Green, with tables outside and under the trees in the summer, this is a wonderful little charming cafe'/restaurant. Eclectic decor with vintage tins and china cups abound, which make the shabby chic interior so pleasant and welcoming. The two ladies who own this little gem (I think), are always so welcoming and helpful. The menu is quite small but perfectly formed, consisting of breakfast, toast toppers, soup and sandwiches. A lot of their choices are vegetarian and vegan friendly, and their homemade cakes are wonderful. They don't do an afternoon tea as such, but will make scones to order. I've been here several times before with work colleagues and my son, and have never had a bad experience or bad food. I felt I had to leave a review on this occasion particularly because I had to review the sandwich I had. Had I had a better one in Dorchester ? I couldn't remember it if I did. The bread was soft and freshly cut, the filling plentiful, the bacon crispy (Can't abide floppy, soggy bacon), and I could taste every item of filling individually. Service was timely and efficient, and I will always be going back for a very, VERY reasonably priced lunch. The large mug of coffee was excellent, lunch for two was £16. Can't beat it. I think they also do dinner events, or takeaway evenings, but I'm not sure on that. One recommendation, and one only. GO !

The restaurant was packed solid. Meals were luck warm. Or burnt. Was not impressed. No tea or coffee the machines were not working.

Fish and chips and battered mushroom and curry sauce was absolutely 💯 lovely food
