Great village pub, very dog friendly and well frequented by the locals. Good range of drinks and well kept ales. Food is served on Sunday lunchtime, although various mobile caterers park opposite on several evenings and customers are welcome to bring their orders into the bar. Crockery and cutlery are provided. There is a games area with darts, pool table etc. Stayed locally for 3 nights and enjoyed the pub each evening.

Fantastic food, lovely fresh produce from Gold Hill organic farm and such a varied menu. Excellent tasty varied menu- changes regularly. All homemade - delicious sweet and savoury main dishes, whether for a meal out or a snack. Very good friendly service and even crochet items for sale and cards. Next door to farm shop.

Went for a Sunday Roast. Potato’s awesome! Meat, thin slices and not much of it. Cauliflower cheese burnt. Gravy had no taste and was clear and water like. There just wasn’t enough. Shame, as the pub and the staff are lovely. This is my opinion so don’t necessarily let me put you off.

DO NOT BOTHER!!!! 1.5 hour wait for a bacon sandwich is enough to test anybody’s patience. Refunded, walked out and had to change entire days plans. They were still taking orders at this point. Absolute joke Avoid Avoid avoid!!!

Great lunch, great service, great staff, lovely environment, beautifully clean, fantastic specials menu. And a superb pint. What could be better? Highly recommend (and I’m fussy). Also met the landlord and Landlady and they couldn’t have been more hospitable.

Thank you, so much! We had an absolutely smashing meal last night! The meals were huge and very tasty, great value for money. It was our first time visiting and it won't be our last! My father in law is still talking about his pie of the day, this morning and raving about how deep the filling was and how much he enjoyed it. Would highly recommend 👌

The Saxon Inn has become our favourite pub! We've enjoyed many lovely meals there, from Sunday roasts to delicious evening dishes. It’s the perfect spot to relax after a country walk, especially on sunny days when we can sit outside with our dogs and enjoy a drink or by the fire with some bar snacks. It’s always so welcoming, excellent service, and tasty food - couldn’t recommend it more!

Nice typical English pub, We enjoyed dinner and a beer and were served by an very kind waitress. The fiid was very English and good. it was not an authentic cozy old atmospheric pub, but well for just tonight.

For various reasons we haven’t eaten out much this year, so it’s a long time since we visited the White Horse. We won’t be leaving it so long next time, as we had a lovely festive lunch there yesterday. The pub, as usual at Christmas, was nicely decorated, with its amazing bottle tree, wish I’d got a photo! Colonel Waffle had a mushroom starter & I had spicy parsnip soup, both delicious. My main course was salmon in a sumptuous sauce, Colin had turkey with all the trimmings. The plentiful vegetables (roast & new potatoes, sprouts, broccoli, carrots & peas) were perfectly cooked. For dessert, Colin had a chocolate torte & I had something called ‘lemon berry delice’ which was one of the nicest desserts I’ve ever had. It was a bit like a cheesecake, but better! There was also coffee & mince pies. The service was as good as ever, because the staff are lovely. The atmosphere in the pub was good, too, even though not all diners were having Christmas lunch. We’ll be back!
